This is my philosophy. There have been times when I might have said yes too quickly but equally, no-one lives forever.. This is why I decided to go for my Yoga teacher training. A passion to learn and to teach. Following a trip to Thailand I got back to my desk in Edinburgh and thought no! No more... And so I did it, and I want to share my journey and musings. MY YOGA JOURNEY I started ballet at a really young age of 2 and fell in love with being free to move and letting my imagination run wild. Often I was found looking at my mum's Iyengar Yoga book and imitating the yoga images over and over. This connection with movement has never left me. Inspired, I studied Performing Arts specialising in Contemporary Dance at De Montfort University, Bedford, and continued to study Community Education at Edinburgh University where I specialised in Community Arts and Youth Work. I found my way to Yoga after going to a gym class during a stressful period of work where I tried Power Yoga. My coordination at first was terrible and I was struggling to keep up with the class but still really enjoyed attending. I then decided to do a beginner class to see if that could help my coordination and balance. At this point Yoga was still a purely physical practice to me. It was not until several years later that I went on a trip to India where I travelled to Kerala and Goa and really started to be drawn to the spiritual and meditative side of Yoga. I got up as early as 6am to do Yoga practice and discovered Ashtanga Yoga. I was hooked. I liked how the physical benefits improved my health and was especially drawn to the chanting and the wonderful philosophy of Yoga. Two years of regular yoga practice later, after attending a Yoga retreat in Granada and a trip to Thailand, I took the leap and signed up to a Yoga teacher training course. This course would become what I felt to be a challenge and reward at the same time, learning and memorising sancript and Yoga philosophy, finding self acceptance and realising that it is ok if you cannot do every single yoga pose. This course has given me real confidence to teach yoga in the community and share this feeling of excitement. YOGA FOR KIDS My style of kids Yoga classes is drawn to delivering fun and creative yoga sessions. Yoga journeys are a vital part of these classes, where kids can nourish their creativity using movement in their body to tell a story while breath work helps the kids feel more calm. Having completed my Kids Yoga Teacher training with Rainbow Kids Yoga in London, I quickly realised how passionate I am about working with kids of all ages to help them reach their full potential. YOGA FOR ADULTS My style of classes is drawn to delivering dynamic sequences with focus on flow and restorative styles of yoga where students can focus on deep relaxation and connection of movement with breath. I love sharing that inner work with others and for them to leave feeling happier at ease and with a smile. I strongly believe that everyone can do yoga in the right supportive environment. I am a registered RYT-200 Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. Having completed my training at Meadowlark Yoga Edinburgh in 2015 my style of yoga is distinctively Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow influenced. BABY MASSAGE My baby massage courses are about providing quality time between parent and baby, relaxing and enjoying special time together. Parent and baby are introduced to baby massage, loving touch, gentle stretches and songs. I work with you to promote confidence, help you learn how to communicate with your baby and understand their cues of responsiveness in a nurturing and stress free environment.I am a qualified Baby Massage Instructor, having completed my training with the Scottish School of Child and Baby Massage and an accredited Massage Therapist with the Scottish School of Massage where I obtained Diplomas in both, Sport and Remedial Massage as well as Indian Head Massage. PREGNANCY YOGA As a Pregnancy Yoga teacher I am extremely passionate about the holistic mind and body benefits yoga can bring to support women through birth and after. I believe yoga is for everyone and is a great support to help mums to de-stress, connect with others, share our journeys and become part of a community. Pregnancy Yoga classes are a fantastic way to nourish our bodies and physically and emotionally improve our health and wellbeing. I am currently running weekly classes in Pregnancy Yoga where I offer a relaxed and calming space for women to practise and provide practical tools to support women during their pregnancy and birth. MUM & BABY YOGA My style of Post natal Mum & Baby Yoga classes is focused on supporting women after birth. It is a great way to nourish our bodies physically and emotionally, as well as improving health and well being. I especially focuses on breath awareness, building strength and flexibility and creating a safe space for women to bond with their baby. I am currently running weekly classes in Mum & Baby Yoga where I offer a relaxed and calming space for women to practice yoga with their baby and supportive space for women to meet together and share experiences.

I am a therapeutic consultant, trainer, play therapist and supervisor who has worked across a variety of settings for over thirty years. I am able to offer a range of services and strategies to support children, families and the staff who work with them to make positive changes in their lives. I have worked as a therapeutic consultant across seven schools in Manchester, Derbyshire and Tameside since September 2010 providing play therapy, group work, staff training staff and head teacher consultation, parent consultations and parent child sessions. Along side this work I have published several articles and also written three books Understanding and Managing Children’s Behaviour Ages 3-5: A child-centred group work programme published by routledge on 5th April 2016 Understanding and Managing Children’s Behaviour Ages 7-11: A child-centred group work programme published by routledge on 7th May 2013 and Understanding and Managing Children’s Behaviour Ages 5-7: A child-centred group work programme published by routledge on 16th November 2014 I also provide individual supervision for qualified play therapists, art therapists and drama therapists. I qualified as a Play Therapist in 2004 and worked for the Calm Spaces Project in Manchester for seven years until March 2011. I worked as a Project Supervisor for the last two and half years of this which involved working as a therapist with children and families, offering regular staff consultations, delivering training to schools and provided individual and group supervision to a team of 9 therapists including Play Therapists, a Drama Therapist and Massage Therapists. In addition to the list of services I provide, I am also able to design and deliver tailor made support and training on all aspects of therapeutic work , emotional health and wellbeing and behaviors for learning, to meet the needs of individual children, families, staff and schools. I have provided consultation and contributed to the Therapeutic Standards for Schools in Manchester document which was published in November 2010. At Fight for Peace young people make friends, get fit, and develop their interests, skills, and confidence. Our aim is to ensure young people achieve their full potential in life, and we welcome any young person from our communities aged 7-25 years old. We embrace the power of sport for the life lessons it teaches, such as resilience and discipline, as well as improved health and wellbeing. And we combine this with one-to-one mentoring conversations with qualified youth workers, personal development sessions, and education and employability support. Young leaders also shape our services, being part of staff recruitment and strategy development, producing communications, and progressing to employed roles as ‘Next Gen’ staff. We support around 500 young people per year at our Academy in east London and, in order to reach as many young people as possible, we train and work with like minded community partners across the UK and the world - something we call the Fight for Peace Alliance. We also coordinate Collectives in east London and Jamaica to bring together diverse partners from across communities in support of young people. Having been a keen sportsperson from a young age, I know first-hand what exercise has done for me in my life. This helped develop my passion for helping others to learn the benefits of exercise for themselves. As a mum of two boys who has lived through divorce, car accidents, broken ribs, a gall bladder operation, heart palpitations and a prolapsed disk, my life has certainly had its ups and downs. As a working mum, I have juggled bringing up my boys with both full and part-time employment, whilst using evenings and weekends to set up my private fitness business, teach classes and support women. So I know what it’s like to be a busy woman …. What I have learnt…. How our life’s journey affects our health, the impact of life’s pressures and just being a busy mum. We often find it is hard to put ourselves first, but neglecting our own health and wellbeing can cause weight gain, reduce energy levels, affect sleep and how we cope with stress. This can eventually lead to low self-esteem, anxiety and depression. While recovering from various illnesses and injuries, I have learnt that planning, preparation and determination are essential. It is this positive mindset that I'd like to pass on to my clients. What I can do for you…. Sometimes we need to take stock of where we are, what we want to achieve and set goals to help us take control of our future. I can help you understand how to achieve your goals and appreciate what changes you need to make. I can guide you to take manageable steps towards lifestyle changes and overcome barriers that may have prevented you from achieving things in the past. I have developed a passion for women’s health from pre & post-natal exercise to menopause and older women. As I started the menopause early and have tried a variety of methods to relieve the symptoms including HRT, I wanted to learn more about the effects of menopause on women. By understanding what happens to our bodies on an almost scientific bases I begun to realise how menopause has such an impact on so many aspects of our minds and bodies. It has become such an interesting journey learning more about menopause and how we need to change the way we eat, exercise, sleep, deal with stress and so much more. I am continually learning and researching women’s health. Every time I do a course one of the groups will ask another new question and I will do my best to go away and find out an answer if I do not know it myself. This us how I will learn with you. We will celebrate wins however small, recognising achievements can help us visualise the end goal and that it is reachable. Working flexibly to find exercise that you like, foods you enjoy and habits that are sustainable. Let’s do this … my aim is to create a healthy lifestyle together.

We all go through low points at times in our lives and it is not unusual to experience symptoms related to stress, anxiety and depression. Merton Uplift is an integrated Primary Care Mental Health service accessible to anyone living in the borough of Merton or registered with a Merton GP who are 18 years and over. We support anyone who has a mental health or wellbeing need, whether this is due to emotional difficulties or life stressors. We also offer a service for people with a stable mental health diagnosis such as psychosis and Bipolar Affective disorder. Merton Uplift is a partnership between the NHS and local voluntary sector organisations and launched on the 1st April 2019. With values based on empowerment and building resilience within the community we tailor support to the individual. Wellbeing is core to our service with Wellbeing Navigators working in collaboration with all elements within Merton Uplift. We can support your mental health and wellbeing needs through a number of ways including: Self management courses Psychological therapies Psychiatric assessments Recovery and Wellbeing support Liaison with other Trust services: There will be seamless liaison with, and transfer of service user care to secondary care mental health services run by the Trust from Merton Uplift if clinical risk requires this. This pathway will be managed through daily interface meetings between Merton Uplift and the Merton Assessment Team.
