Peacock Mosaics

Joss Hughes is a self-taught mosaic artist working from her studio in a beautiful rural setting near Romsey, in Hampshire. When not working on commission, she creates mosaics for sale at local outlets or plans her next adult “Mosaic and Cake” workshop. She marvels at the natural creativity of children taking part in her “Make a Mosaic” parties or in after-school and holiday camp mosaic sessions. Mosaic creations in stained glass and mirror dominate her portfolio however, she also particularly enjoys working with beach-combed sea glass and driftwood. The latter are mainly sourced from her beloved South Cornwall. Other materials she occasionally uses include 'found' objects from the garden or beach, and the commercially available glass tiles and nuggets. After a crafty childhood Joss focused her mind to pursue a career in Paediatric Medicine. Six university years and a further seventeen, mainly working for NHS England, left little time or energy for creativity! Job rotations and RAF deployments (her husband) necessitated living at fourteen different addresses (in the UK and in Australia). Retrospectively she realises that the repetitive home-and-garden making was expressing a hidden natural creativity. Five years ago she made the life- changing decision to say 'goodbye' to Dr J Hughes, Neonatal Doctor, and to say 'hello' to Joss Hughes, mosaic artist. A birthday gift of a two day beginners’ course (Clare Goodall, Oxford) in 2009 had sown the seed of the addictive nature of mosaics. Following up on two chance sightings of the same incredible huge floating mosaic ball, she tracked down the artist and a second two day course (Sue Smith, Devon) in 2014 reignited Joss's passion and introduced her to the media of stained glass and mirror. There followed lots of trial and error at the kitchen table with glass shards flying everywhere before she finally produced a mosaic she felt able to show anyone! Slowly amassing the prerequisites of a basic studio she moved into her own working space and, in May 2017, she decided to officially launch her own business: Peacock Mosaics. In 2018 Joss attended a 5 day residential mosaic course at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation, learning from the fabulous Sonia King. The emphasis was on developing artistic expression. In 2019 Joss became the Editor (a voluntary role) for "GROUT", a thrice yearly publication by the British Association of Modern Mosaic for its members. This has been a superb networking and knowledge-boosting opportunity. She also attended the 2018 and 2019 BAMM Forums, in London and York respectively, furthering her contact with the UK mosaic community. She has had mosaics accepted for exhibition in Penzance, York and Andover during 2019. In 2020 Joss will attend a short course at the London School of Mosaic, with tutor Debra Collis, exploring further her preference for abstract design, and practicing colour studies and andamenti.

Camera School

I've taken other photography classes, but nothing compared to what I learned from the classes I took at Henry's. I looked forward to taking them each week. Jim, the instructor, was very knowledgeable, patient and explained the material with great detail. He took the time to fully answer any questions we had and provided quality feedback about my photography. Since taking the classes, everyone noticed the great improvement of my photos, and I'm more excited than ever to trying new things with the photography techniques I've learned. The other students in the class I was in also enjoyed it as much as I did, so much so that almost everyone took the more advanced classes together. Now, I no longer rely on the auto-mode on my camera and enjoy tweaking the setting and seeing the improvement of my photos. The classes and the expert instruction gave me the opportunities to see what potential my camera has and what setting work best in any given environment. I can't stress enough how many compliments on the improvement of my photos when posting on Facebook. My photos really now capture what I'm seeing, instead of dull version of real life. My only disappointment is that there's no more classes left for me to take. To anyone who wants to take their photography to the next level, The courses at Henry's Toronto are for you. Thank You Jim for opening my eyes on how easy it can be to capture truly special moments, and taking the lens-cap off of my imagination. - Kat Soderstrom FAQ/Contact Courses for Interchangeable lens (DSLR or Mirrorless) cameras I read everything I could get my hands on when I started photography as my new hobby and was skeptical that taking any courses would provide much more than I’d already learned. But I took the leap and signed up for Henry's 101 course with Jim Ogilvie. It was the best decision I made. Jim was great at explaining and demonstrating the various aspects of photography - I was amazed at how much we covered in 5 weeks. There’s no replacement for having an instructor walk you through concepts and answer your questions directly. I was so pleased that I signed up for 201 course with Jim and it was even better! I recommend both courses, whether you are brand new to photography or, like me, are self-taught and you know there may be some gaps. The quality of my work has grown and I credit Jim! - Judy Hauserman Taking the photo 101 and 102 courses at Henry's Toronto location are a great way to learn and be introduced to the world of photography. Jim is a wonderful instructor who is friendly, easygoing and has loads of knowledge on photography and different types DSLR cameras. These courses include both discussions and hands on assignments that further help you understand your camera and your new skills. - Sabrina Belardi-Redin

4JW,

Stoke Park School was established in 1919 as a grammar school and although it has changed considerably in the last 100 years, our high expectations and academic curriculum remains the same. Through providing a quality education, alongside a range of exceptional experiences, our central aim is to enable all of our students to Build Brighter Futures. The state of North Carolina requires anyone under the age of 18 to complete a driver education course consisting of at least 30 hours of classroom and a minimum of 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction. To be eligible to register for a class session, you must be 14 years and 6 months old by the first day of class. During the school year, students must register for class at the school that they attend. During the summer, students are permitted to take the class at any school within the county in which they attend school. Students may not cross into other counties to attend driver education class at any time. Your first step will be to visit our class schedule listing to see the upcoming sessions and sign up for a class. If your school does not hold online registration through our website, you will need to contact the school directly to register for a class. Though class sessions vary from school to school, most class sessions are eleven school days long with each session three hours in length and typically, there are no class sessions on Fridays. During the summer, there are no excused absences. Students must attend all sessions to get credit for the class. Once the student has completed the classroom phase of driver education, the students from each class are placed in order by date of birth from the oldest to the youngest and will be driven in that order. You should receive a call within 30-90 days of classroom completion from your instructor to set up your behind-the-wheel schedule. Some of the larger areas are between 90-120 days due to the shortage of instructors. Our instructors will do their best to work with your schedule. Most instructors drive afternoons, evenings, and on Saturdays. Some instructors drive mornings before school. There is no one-on-one instruction. There will be a total of two or three students in the vehicle at all times. Students will be picked up and dismissed from the school campus. It is the parents’ responsibility to provide transportation to and from driver education. It typically takes three to four days to complete the behind-the-wheel phase. On the last day of driving, the instructor will issue a completion certificate. This certificate does not expire. You will then need to obtain a driver eligibility certificate which is provided by the high school and verifies that the student meets the requirements of the adequate progress law. The driver eligibility certificate expires 30 days from the issue date. Once you have these forms (along with your birth certificate and social security card) you may visit the DMV to apply for your permit. We hope you have a pleasant and rewarding driver education experience. If we can be of any assistance, please call and speak with our office staff.

Hull Business Training Centre Limited

hull business training centre limited

HBTC (Hull Business Training Centre) was founded by Judith Dolman-Williams and Margaret Wingfield in 1994. At this time the world was a very different place. The use of mobile phones was extremely rare. The internet had been created but not many people had heard of it. A small band called Oasis released their debut album. The TV show ‘Friends’ first aired and Forrest Gump was the top grossing film of the year. Initially HBTC was based out of small office on Coelus Street, Hull. We carried out training for employers on our premises, across Hull and the East Riding. Within just a couple of months, the office on Coelus Street proved to be too small, as the business grew rapidly. So we relocated to an office block within Chamberlain Business Centre on Chamberlain Road, Hull. Initially we rented just a couple of rooms in this large block. But HBTC went from strength to strength, and added further rooms to our lease, as other businesses moved out. By the late 1990s, HBTC proudly occupied the full block. We secured our first apprenticeship training contract in 1996. Which has become the main focus of the business. The main areas were, and still remain, business, IT and teaching. In late 2001, an exciting opportunity arose to expand our already successful Job Centre Plus contract. This saw HBTC move our unemployed provision to the city centre. We decided to move all of our operations to one location on Spyvee Street at the end of 2004. In more recent years we have expanded our provision to the south of the Humber. Opening our Grimsby office in 2011 and our Scunthorpe office in 2013. Enabling us to cover Hull and East Yorkshire, Northern Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. In 2015 we moved to the city centre at Charlotte Street Mews. Where we are still currently located. Not far from the New Theatre and Queens Gardens. In the old Citizens Advice building. We have moved with the times as the business landscape has evolved due to the impact of technological and digital advancements. But the core emphasis on what we offer has remained the same. The offer now includes apprenticeships, online courses and work-based learning opportunities across a range of sectors, including team leading, digital and customer service. HBTC are an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ training provider. Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They inspect services providing education and skills for learners of all ages. HBTC also hold the Matrix Standard, which is the international quality standard for organisations that deliver information, advice and/or guidance (IAG). At lot has changed since 1994, but our original HBTC Mission Statement still remains. “Committed to providing the opportunity for everyone to develop, in a caring and nurturing learning environment, through a highly trained and motivated workforce.”

As a coach I’ve been powering women for over half a decade to take a stand for their best selves, careers and lives. I’ve worked with thousands of women to shift from survive mode to strive and thrive and honestly, I’m just getting started ;) I love what I do and I’ve got big dreams, you could say I’m a woman on a mission! But I didn't always have it this figured out… The truth is I didn’t know what I wanted to do when I grew up. I spent my twenties trying to figure it all out, often feeling lost, frustrated and like I wasn’t realising my potential. In 2013 I’d reached a low point, I wasn’t happy in my job, living situation, relationship, I certainly wasn’t operating as the best version of me and I knew I had to make some big changes. That’s when I discovered coaching. Coaching and personal development became the catalyst for hugely positive change in my life. Of course, Rome wasn’t built in a day. I had plenty of figuring out to do, life decisions to make, and big action to take to create the career and life of my dreams. In fact, I switched jobs 3 times before I finally plucked up the courage to set up my business. But at the end of 2016, She Almighty was born - just before I turned 30. There’s nothing quite like a birthday milestone to create some urgency! I chose my freedom, and I haven’t looked back since. She Almighty has become my vehicle - to empower me and empower other women worldwide and I’d love you to be a part of that! Are you here because you feel like you need to take a stand for you, your best self and life? Are you ready to create the space, do the inner work, get the clarity and take the necessary action? If so, that's exciting - I promise, but then you are in my sweet spot! My mission is to free you from your limitations, expectations, the shoulds, the coulds and the what ifs, so that you can step courageously and confidently into your power, shine bright, thrive and create the impact you are destined to have. You only get one go at this thing called life, there’s no time to settle or put up - we must embrace, live and love who we are and what we do. Because when we do that, we live a life of purpose, joy and fulfilment and we lead others to make our world a better place. She Almighty is now an incredible community of aspirational mission-led and impact-driven women, and we recently launched our new home She Almighty Collective - be sure to check it out! Needless to say, I am delighted that you are here and I’m looking forward to supporting you on your unique life journey, so that you can be your best, happiest, most powerful and peaceful self.

WITNEY,

Wood Green is a true comprehensive school in the thriving town of Witney, 10 miles west of Oxford. Our motto, ‘Excellence for All’, means that we strive to create a school in which all students are motivated to learn, achieve highly and develop the wider skills and qualities necessary to be happy and successful. We are a school with strong values and everything we do - our curriculum, the wide range of enrichment opportunities and a focus on student achievement and welfare – are based on these values and contribute to ensuring there truly is excellence for all. Some features of Wood Green School include: Our GCSE results in 2018 were the best ever for attainment and progress, demonstrating year-on-year improvement. In February 2017 Wood Green and three other schools in Oxfordshire co-founded the Acer Multi-Academy Trust. This is typical of our desire to collaborate with like-minded schools and brings more opportunities for staff development and student enrichment. Our Sixth Form works in close partnership with Henry Box School and Abingdon and Witney College to ensure our students have the widest choices anywhere in Oxfordshire. Our curriculum and wider enrichment are organised into our Wood Green Baccalaureate, which ensures that every student from year 7 through to year 13 are recognised for their achievements and effort. I have over 20 years of experience in the behaviour and training of dogs and am a member of the Kennel Club Accredited Instructors. I have a Diploma in Canine Behaviour, and am a full member of INTO Dogs, ICAN and The Pet Professional Guild. My passion is working with dogs to help them reach their full potential in a fun, fear free way, whether they are working and competing dogs, fearful rescues or family unit members. I work completely on a positive reward basis, and as an ex Veterinary Nurse I also understand the anatomical and physical restraints that some dogs have, and will work with owners to overcome the problems. I have a special interest in arthritic dogs as per my Canine Arthritis Management qualification. As both a trainer and a behaviourist, I am fully insured and offer both group classes or one to one behaviour assessments and training. Debbie Goodwin Pawsitive Dog Training I run a Rescue and Rehoming Service for my breed, Papillons, and I have extensive knowledge on rescue dog behaviour, particularly the fearful foreign dogs. I regularly, successfully compete in agility, scentwork, showing and obedience myself. Behaviour consultations typically last an hour (or more if needed) to enable me to understand your dogs issues, to suggest a way forward and to start a programme. This will be followed up with a full written history and plan. Follow up visits very much depend on the issue, the implementation of the behaviour modification plan and the individual dog. General Training for dogs and puppies can be in either a class situation or one to one training. Some dogs do really well in class, whilst others need some one to one training first, especially where a class situation is too stressful. Again, it is very much dependent on what you wish to achieve with your dog, the dog itself, and its progression as to how many sessions you will need. To book a consultation or training session please complete the Questionnaire which can be sent by e mail or downloaded here, e mail to dogpawsitivetraining@yahoo.com and I will ring you to book an appointment. If you would like to discuss your requirements prior to this, please telephone me on 07956 547769 and I will be very pleased to answer your questions at no extra charge. Consultations normally last a minimum of 1 hour and are carried out in your own home at a time which is convenient to you. It is helpful for the whole family and any other carers to be present. The cause and motivation for the behaviour will be fully explained and a staged programme of behaviour modification advised. You will receive a written report and advised of follow up visits. I am able to provide a secure field for training on a Sunday afternoon so please contact me if required.
