Hello and welcome! We’d like to tell you a little about Flux Jewellery School. We’re based in London and we’ve been running specialist jewellery courses here since 2008. We provide opportunities for anyone wishing to explore, extend or develop jewellery making skills. We’re part of Flux Studios, a membership-based collective of professional jewellers who work together to share knowledge and skills, and to develop their independent jewellery businesses. At Flux Jewellery School our remit is a simple one – to provide a platform where expertise, enthusiasm and the open exchange of ideas combine to inspire creative genius! Here we have a unique approach to providing educational experiences alongside professional practice, and this gives proven added value to our students and our Flux Studios members alike. Our History Flux Studios was established by Vicky Forrester in 2008 with the desire to support all elements of the jewellery industry. The intention was to create a home to both aspiring professionals and the interested public, where each could thrive. Since these early beginnings, Flux Studios has evolved into a busy, creative jewellery hub. We have become a global destination where people come to share ideas and jewellery skills with open enthusiasm. About Vicky Forrester Vicky Forrester is a designer – maker of contemporary bespoke jewellery. Inspired by organic structures, Vicky combines the inherent qualities of her materials with innovative techniques, to produce wearable, precious forms that delight the senses. She makes her jewellery here at Flux Studios, London. Vicky set up Flux Jewellery School to share the skills and knowledge she has gained though her own 30-year career as a jeweller and teacher. In 2010 Vicky was commissioned to write ‘Elemental Jewellery’, an inspirational look at jewellery making. The book includes twenty projects that aim to introduce new approaches to making jewellery, while also exploring ways to develop a free spirited design methodology.

The company has grown and with it our collective experience and knowledge of the properties and methods for making and using leather as a craft material. We aim to be a one stop shop for everything leather and leathercraft, with a wide selection, and variety of leathers in small and large cuts, as well as an extensive range of leather craft supplies. We are a a small dedicated team based in beautiful old farm buildings in West Sussex on the edge of the South Downs National Park. Green Farm Butchery is owned by Richard Cook who began his butchery career in 1965. He has also worked extensively in the corporate event market and has combined his butchery knowledge with his corporate expertise to provide our range of Butchery Courses. In the last six years our courses have become extremely popular. We have three butchery tutors who share the same passion and commitment and enjoy passing on their skills. Our course attendees benefit from these tutors' excellent knowledge and experience. We now provide a full calendar of butchery courses throughout the year with new courses being added all the time. Most of our attendees are aware of us through recommendation. Some are regulars and are working their way through our full range of courses! We like to make sure that each and every person who attends one of our courses will come away from Green Farm feeling that they have achieved some of the skills of a butcher and will take home a very generous goody bag of the meat that they have butchered. Our butchery courses vary from three hour sausage making courses, to a full day beef butchery course. All our butchery courses take place in an Environmental Health approved cutting room. We love what we do and we are passionate about high quality, locally sourced produce.

Steph hated school and couldn’t wait to leave. After a number of jobs that she didn’t enjoy, she returned to further then higher education and (ironically) became a teacher. Steph taught in secondary and further education as a business and economics teacher amongst other subjects. She was then offered a role within Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council Education Directorate managing the EOTAS (Education other than at school) service. A diversion from teaching to managing teachers and other support staff for 11 years, Steph decided to take the plunge and set up her own education company. Almost 5 years on, she runs a successful business employing over 100 staff. Having previously been a supply teacher, she understands the role and empathises with how overwhelming it can be for staff going into different schools sometimes on a daily basis. She is a totally hand’s on, fully supportive manager who will go out of her way to ensure all staff and schools are looked after. Jacob Blackmore OPERATIONS MANAGER Jacob originally joined the company in 2016, working as a part-time Teaching Assistant alongside his studies. In 2018, he graduated from University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Carmarthen, achieving BA (Hons) in Primary Education and gaining Qualified Teacher Status. Jacob continued to work for B.E.S.T in his new role as a Primary School Teacher. B.E.S.T allowed Jacob to complete his NQT induction and gain valuable experiences in a number of schools across Neath Port Talbot. Keen to apply his passion and knowledge of education, further develop his skill set and continue to contribute to the growth of the company, Jacob joined the office-based team at B.E.S.T as Operations Manager in January 2020. Jacob is also a keen sportsman, with a passion for rugby. He has played for many representative teams including Wales u16s, Ospreys u16s-18s and was captain of Neath Port Talbot College for the 2014/15 season. Jacob has also had previous WRU Championship and Premiership experience with Carmarthen Quins, Aberavon and is currently playing for Neath RFC.
