Qualifications I am a Level 3 First Aid & Defibrillation Instructor. I also have a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF) and can teach the full range of Ofqual (The Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) regulated Level 2 and Level 3 Awards in a range of First Aid qualifications. My Background I have worked for over 10 years in the leisure industry as a lifeguard, duty manager and swimming teacher. Between 2009 and 2011 I lived in New Zealand and worked as a team building instructor running educational school programmes and corporate days. I instructed climbing, archery and many other activities. I also designed educational climbing programmes promoting road safety that I delivered in schools working along side the New Zealand Police and Ambulance Services. In 2012 I joined Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and work as a retained firefighter in Okehampton. I have gained many qualifications and experiences with this role and am trained as a casualty carer. It was 2015 when I gained a first aid instructor's qualification. I wanted to run courses locally and make them accessible for businesses and individuals. I am passionate about training and promoting the need for first aid at work and within communities. I am a practical person and endeavour to make my courses as interactive and hands on as possible. In 2017 I helped form a new charity to equip Okehampton with 8 Public Access Defibrillators. Oke PADs is an organisation that will maintain and provide training free of charge to the community.

Firstly, our programmes are completely personalised to each candidate; no two people have the same experience because we only train between 20 and 30 trainees each year. Unlike the big university models where you would be one of 200 trainee teachers, we tailor the year to maximise your skills and you will therefore be better prepared to teach. We have our own supportive SCITT community, our own wellbeing programme and our own life coach. Secondly, because our trainees don’t have to attend University lectures, we have time to give them a bespoke enhancement programme running alongside the mainstream school placements. Our secondary trainees have the opportunity to teach in primary schools, pupil referral units, Special Educational Needs settings, work with CAHMS and teach in Sixth Forms. They also spend time at our local private schools to teach children with English as an additional language. Again, trainee curriculum design is tailored to maximise preparation. Thirdly, our programmes are competitively priced because we know graduates are already carrying huge university debts. We charge £7705 for QTS, as opposed to £9000, but we also give a free qualification for secondary trainees in addition to QTS so they leave as qualified Teachers of the PSHE Association [Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education]. This gives them an edge over other candidates when applying for jobs, and fully prepares them for teaching beyond the curriculum and preparing their pupils for life in modern Britain.

Smartkids Tuition Centre near Wombourne, Wolverhampton We are a multimedia tuition centre based in Wombourne, on the outskirts of Wolverhampton. Most of our students come from all areas of Wolverhampton, Kingswinford, and Dudley as well as Wombourne. However, we even have children who come from as far afield as Sutton Coldfield and Stoke on Trent! Here at Smartkids, we offer private and small group tuition on a range of different subjects. These include 11+ preparation, ICT, KS1 and KS2 Maths and English, and KS2 SATs practice. For older students, we offer tutoring for both KS3 and KS4 in Science, English, Maths, Humanities, Languages and of course, ICT. As a tuition centre, Smartkids Learning Success Centre is unique because we are also registered as an exam centre. Through us, students as young as 10 sit OCR Level 2 Diploma in Computer User Skills. This exam is aimed at adult learners and is not only comparable to achieving 3 A*-C grades at GCSE, but is also a qualification recognised and accepted by 6th forms, colleges, and employers. We are especially proud of the fact that not only do our youngsters have a 100% success rate at this level, but also, that the average age of our candidates is just 13 years old! The students who come to Smartkids for private tuition are all individual. Some are described by their school as gifted or talented, others are on the SEN register and have specific needs or learning difficulties.
