The Smokin' Elk BBQ School

the smokin' elk bbq school

I’ve been cooking on BBQs for the last 20 years in one form or another. Up until 7 years ago, most of my experience was on gas BBQs, usually the cheap type that you buy off the shelf one year and it rusts out before the following ‘BBQ Season’. This all changed after watching programs such as ‘Man vs Food’ and salivating over all of the American BBQ that was often on the show! I had to get me some of that, but where? There weren’t exactly any BBQ restaurants around in the UK so the only option was to do it myself. I found myself on forums, on Facebook groups, on YouTube and with my head in many books but nothing beat the experience and education of just getting out there and getting on with it. Cue lots of mistakes along the way on a very steep learning curve but here I am today, a whole lot more competent than I was back then. I don’t think its possible to master BBQ or cooking with fire. There is always more to learn and that’s why I love it. There are hundreds of ways to achieve the same end result – good tasting food that puts a smile on your face. Everyone will have their own methods, secret recipes, tips and tricks that work just great for them. I like to try and learn as many of these as possible, inhaling as much fire cooking knowledge as I can along this amazing journey I’m very proud to represent some amazing brands that share my passion. I’m a Fire Squad brand ambassador for Kamado Joe and a Team Temperature brand ambassador for Thermapen. I also work closely with several other brands that share the same principles and together, we help to spread the word of BBQ as far and as wide as we canI’ve decided its now time to share some of the tips, tricks & techniques I’ve learnt over the years, in the hope that it’ll ignite the same passion within you that I feel every day. This is why I’ve created The Smokin’ Elk BBQ School, a project that I’m absolutely buzzing about. This is a school where you’ll learn but almost as importantly, we’ll have fun. And we’ll cook up some damn tasty food along the way! Check out the ‘Classes’ section to check for available classes & dates. I look forward to welcoming you to The Smokin’ Elk BBQ School!

DWS Drone CEO Theo Nix Jr Discusses the Drone Business withWITN22-TV – https://www.facebook.com/WITN22/videos/10155508397465927/ Don’t Get Left Behind Get Trained In a rapidly-developing industry, both new drone pilots and experienced operators should invest in training to stay competitive. We offer tailor-made classes that cover everything from flying techniques, building a drone from scratch, editing data and starting a drone business to learning the aeronautical information you need to know to become an FAA licensed drone operator. Why Fly A Drone At a time when the aviation field is reinventing itself, picking up a drone has never been a more exciting (or profitable) endeavor. Executives across the country see small unmanned aircraft as a key strategy to enhance their businesses and stay competitive. Drones are helping big box retailers keep track of the inventory in their warehouses while real estate companies are using the technology to create more vibrant footage to advertise their properties. Insurance adjusters and utility companies are investing in drones to inspect infrastructure and equipment. Farmers are taking advantage of the technology to help them produce better crop yield. The potential for new career opportunities is unlimited. In fact, the commercial drone market was valued at $3.4 billion dollars in 2014 but it is projected to reach at least $100 billion dollars by 2020 by Goldman Sachs. To top it off, leading manufacturers are releasing newer, more advanced drone models capable of doing things that were considered just a pipe dream a few years ago. Drone Workforce Solutions is here to help you get your start in this rapidly developing industry.

Lorna Scott Fitness

lorna scott fitness

I have been teaching exercise for 25 years and thrive on working with my clients to achieve their health and fitness goals! I live and work in Potters bar, Hertfordshire and had been teaching exercise and fitness classes at venues in Potters Bar, Barnet and North London until the recent Covid-19 pandemic restricted group exercise (amongst so many other things!) In the early days of "lockdown" I kept in touch with my wonderful clients with regular video blogs and 5 minute daily exercise challenges. When it became clear that the restrictions were likely to be in place for many months, I started organising live streamed classes via Zoom. This new way of exercising remotely has been hugely popular with my members and has influenced the way I hope to take the classes forward. I am very aware of the impact on us all during such unsettled times and I firmly believe in the importance of nurturing both physical and mental health. Taking time to look after ourselves is more important than ever. I pride myself on making all of my members feel valued and adapting my style to meet their needs. Most of all, I believe that exercise should be enjoyable and I endeavour to bring fun to all of my classes! My Background In 1996 I bought a Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness franchise and worked hard to build a successful group of classes in my local area, which many of my current members attended! The exercise and nutritional training that I received from Rosemary Conley was invaluable and has been the foundation for my career in the industry. In 2004, I launched "Health for Life", my own diet and fitness programme, with classes in Barnet and Potters Bar and qualified as a Zumba instructor in 2010 to revitalise the classes. Having discovered the benefits of Pilates, following a significant back injury, I decided to qualify as a Fitness Pilates teacher. The addition of Fitness Pilates to the classes I teach has provided my members with an alternative way to exercise, that focuses on physical and mental health and wellbeing. As the modern world becomes ever more challenging, the popularity of Fitness Pilates has grown and is now the basis for the majority of my classes. In addition, I am qualified to teach exercise to children, and also teach Exercise for Older Adults at a number of retirement communities in my local area. As Charles Darwin said, “It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is most adaptable to change.”

We are delighted to have this opportunity to introduce SPRAWLING BUDS ICSE SCHOOL, THE FIRST CISCE AFFILIATED SCHOOL in J&K, to you and thank you for expressing an interest in our school. We believe we provide a very special environment in which both our pupils and staff grow and develop, and I hope what you see here will convey a small sense of what we have to offer. Our purpose is simple: We want to develop confident, articulate young men and women, who are interesting, balanced and independent people who care for each other. Our school provides an outstanding learning experience, but we are so much more than just our examination results. Although we do pride ourselves on our academic success, the outcome of a school should never be measured only in statistical summaries, but rather it is the journey, as well as the destination of our pupils, that is key to our success. This means we focus on every aspect of the development of our young people – their cultural, physical, moral and social development. We recognise the importance of developing a strong sense of belonging and believe in educating the whole person and teaching traditional values. This is reflected in our diverse and full extra-curricular programme and we expect our pupils to embrace the opportunities offered to them. By encouraging pupils to take part in the wide variety of activities available, we can nurture their leadership qualities, promote high moral values and encourage excellent communication skills. We want our pupils to be simultaneously competitive, co-operative and caring, as this will ultimately prepare them for life. At Sprawling Buds we have high standards, and we expect the same of our pupils; we want them to be ambitious for their own development, and apply themselves to their studies with intellectual curiosity and academic endeavour. The celebration of success is important to us and we take every opportunity to commend our pupils for their achievements, whether they be at house, school, regional or national level. Our pupils are an inspiration to others around them. Education is a lifelong journey, and we have the privilege of being able to prepare young men and women for the next part of that journey. If you share our values and aims and are interested in learning more about Sprawling Buds, then we invite you to pay us a visit, meet some of our inspirational pupils and spend some time with us in school.

British Society of Gerontology

british society of gerontology

Waterlooville

The British Society of Gerontology was established in 1971. It provides a multidisciplinary forum for researchers and other individuals interested in the situations of older people, and in how knowledge about ageing and later life can be enhanced and improved. Until 1979, the Society was known as the British Society of Social and Behavioural Gerontology. BSG is a registered charitable company (Charity number: 264385) and is the professional organisation representing gerontologists in Britain. The Society was elected as a member of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) in 1987, and is affiliated to many other organisations in the UK and abroad. As a learned society, our aim is to advance gerontological research, education, theory and practice. We are active in raising the profile of ageing and in drawing attention to its social, economic and policy implications. To this end, we are working to a five year (2015-2020) strategy entitled ‘Raising the Profile of Ageing Research in a Changing World‘. This aims to position the BSG as a world leader in the development of ageing research. To accomplish this aim, BSG brings together researchers, practitioners, educators, policy-makers, students and older people. Our members have varied backgrounds and come from: the social and behavioural sciences; humanities; medicine; health; housing; social care; nursing; policy arenas and voluntary agencies. BSG has Memorandums of Understanding with both AgeUK and the ILC-UK. For more information on either of these, please contact the Secretariat. The society is also in the process of updating a formal agreement with CPU in collaboration with CPA in relation to the publication of Ageing and Society. The Society holds an annual conference (either in July or September) organised and hosted by members from different Centres and Institutions around the country. The annual conference attracts international delegates as well as domestic participants and is a prime opportunity to meet and network with like-minded colleagues. The Society publishes a regular journal – Generations Review; was instrumental in the establishment of Ageing and Society – one of the premier peer-reviewed journals in the field; and is responsible for a range of other publications including a Directory of Members’ interests and ‘Making the Case for the Social Sciences: No 2, Ageing’. The work of the BSG is overseen by an elected Executive Committee assisted by a part-time Secretariat. In addition to the annual conference, the Society supports a variety of other events and activities. In particular, we have an active group for postgraduate students and early career researchers – ERA; make bursaries available to support conference attendance; and award prizes and funds to recognise the contributions of members.

Bristol Art For All

Bristol

My name is Amy Powell and I am a catalyst for reconnecting people with their innate creativity. At Bristol Art For All we facilitate friendly, inclusive learning environments where people can explore their creativity. We started in 2015 running an open access drop in face-to-face community art class in Easton in Bristol. From December 2019 to March 2020 sessions moved to Hamilton House in Stokes Croft Bristol and since April 2020 have been online. Online sessions are run in partnership with local charities as well as sessions open to all adults. Current partners include Age UK and St Mungo’s Recovery College. All online sessions are around a theme selected by the participants, who use the art materials and skills they already have to devise their own projects. Support is on hand to give input on what is made. The sessions act as an online art studio with time for making and opportunities to share and get feedback on artwork. Participants are seen as artists first with the acceptance that we are all on our own life journeys. The focus is on creating learning environments where people enjoy the process of making. With this strong foundation people can have the confidence and resilience to develop further skills. This website gives a taste of the work made over the course of Bristol Art For All. Myself and Rosa Hewitt began Bristol Art For All in 2015. In 2017 Rosa went to the University of Hertfordshire to study Art Therapy. She now works in London as an art therapist with children. I continued with the project in Bristol with the support of volunteers, building my knowledge, experience and skills by studying courses in teaching, facilitation, communication and social enterprise. As well as volunteering with Arts and Health organisations including Studio Upstairs, Bristol Art on Prescription, Workers Education Association (WEA), Milestones Expressions programme and St Mungos Recovery College where I currently run their online art class. I love being a catalyst for people to reconnect with their creativity. It is a great privilege to have worked with over 200 people across Bristol and beyond. Some have attended for years others for one session but all have been welcome and encouraged in their art making. I am currently in the process of making Bristol Art For All into an online art school to reach people who would otherwise struggle to access mainstream arts education. I am interested to connect with organisations, which work with clients who would benefit from exploring and developing their creativity with the support of being in a group.

Space to Balance

space to balance

Through yoga and mindfulness, I help people to slow down, prioritise their wellbeing and feel more peace day to day. I’ll let you into a secret though… the old me was not a calm, happy, chilled out yoga teacher! The old me worked long hours in jobs I didn’t enjoy, feeling constantly stressed and overwhelmed. I said yes to everything and put way too much pressure on myself. Life felt busy, I wasn’t happy and my mental health started to suffer too. It was at this point I realised something had to give. So I left my job at the time, took a step back and dived into all things health and wellbeing. Little did I know, three things would change my whole way of living. First, I found yoga. What started as 30 days of Yoga with Adriene on YouTube (highly recommend!) turned into a regular practice, and I realised how amazing it felt to properly slow down and take care of my mind and body in this way. Yoga has made me stronger, happier and more myself. It’s given me a way to find peace amidst the busyness of life. As I learnt more about yoga, I started practicing meditation regularly, and found that it gave me an even deeper sense of calm and mental clarity. Meditation has taught me how to become present and cultivate a calmer, clearer mindset, and it’s become a daily practice that I now couldn’t do without. I love to share this with others by starting every yoga class with some meditation. And last but not least, I discovered mindfulness. This is perhaps the most valuable practice I’ve ever learnt, and weaving it into my daily life has had such an impact on how I feel and experience the world around me. Mindfulness has helped me to appreciate my life more fully and find a balance between doing and being. This is something I want everyone to experience, so I now use my classes, workshops and other offerings to spread mindfulness more widely. Movement. Meditation. Mindfulness. These practices have become the three M’s I live by. They’ve improved my life more than I can say and now everything I do is about sharing them with others. I hope you’ll join me in exploring these ways of living, and find this space a welcoming place to learn, grow and nurture your wellbeing. Please reach out anytime. I’d love to hear from you.

The Libra Partnership

the libra partnership

We challenge conventional boundaries and champion our clients’ capacity to lead successful and fulfilled lives. Our coaching and teaching takes a systemic approach. We recognise that behaviour is shaped by personal, family, professional, cultural and other values. These hidden loyalties inform perspective and impact performance. In this way individuals and teams are influenced by what is conscious and unconscious, what is known and unknown, what is felt and what is seen. Life does not recognise strict boundaries and divisions. Neither do we. The Libra Partnership honours the seen and the unseen dynamics that inform all facets of your life. We support you to find strength in and with them. We strive for your potential. When people first meet us, they ask: “How did you two meet?” The answer is simple. We met in a pub. In the fading light of a late summer’s day, a conversation started. Among some differences, some common interests revealed themselves. Most notable was an interest in personal development and the innumerable benefits this brought to the professional realm. As our discussions continued, we discovered that our differences and similarities when combined held the material to forge a healthy and productive working relationship. At that time, neither of us had any idea that this conversation would bring us to where we stand today. As our relationship grew, a theme continued to present itself: what is unique about our shared skills and vision? When the mind of a lawyer meets with the mindset of a coach, preconceived boundaries retreat. Limits on what is possible dissolve. Choices are significantly enhanced. We soon realised that we each had perspectives, experience and learning that conventions usually keep separate, and in combining them a wholly unique way of working would emerge from the parts. It was clear that this could create something purposeful to benefit others. Challenging conventional boundaries and combining differences revealed a rich and resourceful seam of learning and creativity. There is an apparent gap between creativity and logic; it does not have to be that way. There is an imaginary space between the past, the present and the future. The imagined space is a flaw in perception: we all know that our past and future reside in our present. There is an outmoded belief that our personal lives and professional lives are distinct from each other. Yet, we all remain at the centre of both. When we bridge these gaps, rattle our perceptions and challenge outmoded beliefs, new opportunities reveal themselves, often in surprising and exciting ways.
