DATE: 15th February TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Classroom 2 St John Ambulance have kindly agreed to provide a First Aid Safety Information workshop to any interested Central Film School students. Areas of focus will include how to be safe on a night out, and also how to handle injuries specific to film sets (burns, electrocution, etc.) This is fantastic information to have both for your professional development and personal life. Supervising First Aid for Mental Health FAA Level 3 Award in supervising First Aid for Mental Health (RQF). Award in Leading First Aid for Mental Health at SCQF Level 6. This course builds on the Level 2/5 Award in First Aid for Mental Health and covers a wider range of mental health conditions. Duration 1 Day Validity 3 years Course Overview The Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work is a nationally recognized qualification designed for individuals who need to act as first responders in workplace emergencies. This course equips learners with essential skills to provide immediate assistance in a range of emergency situations, ensuring they can help preserve life, prevent further injury, and promote recovery. Ideal for those working in lower-risk environments such as offices, shops, and schools, this qualification meets Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements for emergency first aid in the workplace. Upon successful completion, learners will be qualified to act as Emergency First Aiders, playing a vital role in supporting workplace safety. What’s Covered Roles and responsibilities of an Emergency First Aider Assessing an incident quickly and safely Adult CPR & AED usage Managing unconscious casualties (including recovery position) Providing treatment for minor wounds and bleeding First aid for choking Handling shock effectively Responding to minor injuries, including cuts, grazes, and burns Understanding incident reporting procedures Entry Requirements Participants must be at least 16 years old on the first day of training. There are no formal entry requirements; however, learners are advised to have basic literacy and numeracy skills to complete the assessments effectively. Course Information Venue: All our 'Open' courses are delivered from our dedicated training venue: Pulse South Coast Ltd, Bentley Wildfowl, Harveys Lane, Ringmer, BN8 5AF On occasion we may use a separate venue, this will be advised on the course booking. Facilities: On your course you will be provided with tea & coffee making facilities and biscuits. We are in a rural location so we recommend brining lunch with you on the day. There is a microwave & fridge on site for your use. There is a garage that is approximately a 10 minute drive from our venue. Parking: We have a dedicated car park that is approximately a 300m walk to the training venue. There is no additional cost to use this parking. We accept no responsibility for any personal loss or theft while you are on our training courses or premises. Please ensure to keep your personal belongings safe at all times. What is required from you: All courses are delivered in English, you must have a basic understanding of the English language to attend. There is a requirement for you to show that you are capable of performing the skills you are taught on the course, due to this you will need to be physically able to demonstrate all practical elements of the course. Dress: As a company we pride ourselves on running immersive & practical training courses. You will often be expected to kneel & work outdoors, please dress appropriately. Identification: As we deliver Ofqual accredited courses, there is a requirement for you to show a form of ID on the first day of the course. This could be; a driving license, passport or something that clearly shows who you are. Timings: All of our courses have a minimum training time of six hours a day, we will often advertise a course as seven hours to include break times. On occasion it is required to go over the scheduled times, however this will always be discussed with the group on the day. Trainer: During your course you will have a designated trainer for the duration. They are there not only to assess for the qualification, but to offer you guidance and support throughout. Course Overview Teaching the theory and practice of suicide intervention skills that can be applied in any professional or personal setting, this programme is delivered over 3.5 hours as a suicide prevention awareness session. We use only the most experienced suicide prevention trainers to deliver this unique learning experience: for anyone who seeks greater understanding and confidence to intervene with people at risk of suicide.  The Suicide First Aid Lite (Virtual) course gives learners the knowledge and tools to understand that suicide is one of the most preventable deaths and some basic skills can help someone with thoughts of suicide stay safe from their thoughts and stay alive.  Course Content SFA Lite is comprised of 2 parts, each 90 minutes duration. The programme teaches the skills needed to identify someone who may be thinking about suicide and to pass the person onto a suicide first aider.  Part 1: Introduction to the session; programme, ourselves and suicide prevention Stigma and survivors of bereavement by suicide and the Hidden Toll Suicide thoughts and suicide behaviour Intention of behaviour versus outcome of behaviour Possible causes of suicide thoughts Suicide – the ripple effect Part 2: ‘I’m really glad you told me’ audio visual Suicide Safety Guidance Recognising and asking about suicide Referring a person onto suicide first aiders Suicide First Aid Lite (Virtual) training offers learning outcomes that are knowledge based and factual. This training can be used as a stand-alone programme or as the first part of a journey to learn suicide prevention skills.  The one-day programme Suicide First Aid through Understanding Suicide Interventions is a City & Guilds qualification programme and the next step for people wanting a more in-depth practise-based approach to the learning. The information in SFALV is easy to grasp for people of all skill levels and those with no prior knowledge of the subject. It is designed to meet the needs of virtual groups and could be used as a forerunner to the one-day Suicide First Aid Programme.  Evidence Base Two independent evaluations in 2016 and 2017 by Dr Paul Rogers demonstrated significant statistical change in 14 of 19 measures. Increased confidence and reduced anxiety in dealing with suicide, were among the leading outcomes.  Format Taught over 3.5 hours using tutor facilitated socratic learning, tutor-led practise sessions, mini lectures, group work and audio-visual presentations. This is a has some interactive elements and is an emotionally engaging learning experience.  Pre-training requirement No previous experience or training is necessary. Participants will be asked to self- reflect and empathise with a person having thoughts of suicide. There is no expectation on participants to share personal experiences.  Who should attend?  Multi-sector managers and practitioners including health, housing, social care, education, criminal justice, call centre operators, private, voluntary and public sector workers and community groups or members. 

This course includes all the content of the 1 day First Aid for Mental Health, and in addition provides insight into a wider range of mental health conditions. It explores the range of therapies and professional support an individual may be offered. The course is suitable for all within a workplace although is aimed at those who hold a supervisory/managerial level position and/or are responsible for implementing a positive mental health culture for First Aid for Mental Health within an organisation.
