Welcome When I originally established my website I wanted to provide healthcare professionals with essential Travel Medicine information and resources. Thanks to improvements in technology and the range of resources available I’m happy to say there is now a wealth of accessible information. The aim now is to provide a “one-stop-shop” for information for travel health consultations. However if you’re not sure what travel medicine is all about, click on the image below for E learning in the ‘Quick Links’ section at the bottom of this homepage. This will take you to a short module entitled ‘What is Travel’. This will explain more about this field of practice! Ensure you make the best use of the help this website provides! Go to the menu at the very top of the page and hover the ‘mouse’ over each topic – for example, the tab ‘Education’ also includes a page providing information on malaria; a number of videos are found under the ‘Tools’ tab; there’s a large number of resources under the ‘Help’ tab and ‘Links’ tab not only has an alphabetical list of resources but news of other conferences and job adverts in this section. Whilst my experience lies in a GP surgery, if you are a healthcare professional working in one of the settings mentioned, and find it hard to find the time to keep updated, then I hope these tools and resources will help to make your working life in travel health that little bit easier!

Edinburgh School of Music is an independent music school based in Edinburgh city centre. We are a team of highly experienced, enthusiastic and professional teachers who provide music lessons in a wide range of instruments. Our goal at ESM is to bring the love of music into all our student's lives in a fun and enjoyable way as well as providing all the necessary skills to pass exams, perform with confidence and compose music and songs. We are very proud to maintain a 100% pass rate in all our student's instrumental and vocal music exams making us Edinburgh's favourite music school for private music lessons. One - to - one tuition Lessons are available for a range of instruments including voice, piano, guitar, violin, viola, cello, saxophone, clarinet, flute, recorder and drums. We offer one to one private lessons in our studio in Meadowbank or online lessons. Groups We offer a range of music group activities including our Baby music groups (for ages 0-5), youth singing groups, performance coaching workshops and summer school music groups. Please contact us to find out the groups that are currently available. Concerts At ESM we believe that learning to make incredible music is just not as rewarding if you don’t share it with others. We provide monthly showcases at Edinburgh's Jazz Bar in addition to end of term concerts. This gives our students plenty of opportunities to showcase their progress and develops our pupils into confident performers. Unfortunately, due to current restrictions surrounding concerts, we are unable to host any concerts at this time.

In 2004, Steve McGill’s son Matthew was studying at Condover Hall School in Shrewsbury, which was run by the Royal National Institute for the Blind. When the RNIB announced the school was under threat of closure, Steve stepped in. He was on the board of governors at the time and put in a bid to lease the site for an initial ten years. Though we started with just our educational centre and three residential schemes, we now have 12 residential schemes, Short Breaks at our Greenfields scheme and an Opportunities Programme which enables our learners to fulfil their greatest aspirations. We believe our success is due to putting our learners first, always aiming for excellence and remaining focused on meeting individual needs. This ethos is reflected in our business structure. We’re a charity exempt from registration under the Cooperative and Community Benefit Societies Act, so we’re not about making money for shareholders. We put everything back into the people we support. Sadly, our founder Steve passed away in 2014. Today we are still honouring his passion and commitment in providing the best possible care and opportunities for all.

Aerial PerformerHello, and welcome to my site! I am a multidisciplinary aerial acrobat and circus performer. My journey to becoming a professional aerial performer and teacher started after moving to the UK from Spain, where I grew up. It was not until I saw a breathtaking aerial show in 2004 that I knew I wanted to become an aerialist. Shortly after realising I wanted to pursue a career in circus, I joined a 2 year professional full time course in aerial acrobatics in Bristol, specialising in silks, corde lisse and aerial hoop. Straight out of circus school I landed my first ever performing job, a year contract with a traditional circus company in North India, that was both challenging and fascinating. I have never looked back. In 2012 I went back to India to work at Kingdom of Dreams, the first large scale live entertainment theatre in India. The Bollywood style musical shows at KOD feature a fully automated flying system covering an area of 30m x 20m and almost 20 meters above the heads of the audience. I worked there for several months as head of aerial with the dancers involved in the aerial scenes, mainly hanger type harness and silks. The shows at Kingdom of Dreams feature a lot of heavy props flown across the auditorium in conjunction with the performers. Another big circus production I have been part of is Circus Rocks by the Generating Company, a UK touring show around seaside holiday resorts where I performed rope and was part of the aerial and dance ensembles.

Wilfrid (634-709) is one of the greatest and also one of the most controversial English Saints. Born to a wealthy family in Northumberland, Wilfrid was second generation Christian. He had an interest in the things of God from a young age and went to study in Lindisfarne, a centre of Celtic Christianity, under St Aidan. Intent on continuing his education, Wilfrid set out to travel to Rome, but was beguiled by the high lifestyle of the Archbishop of Lyon and stayed for quite a while living the high-life. Eventually he arrived in Rome about 654, when he was about 20. He stayed for a short while, but returned to Lyon where he continued his education under the patronage of the Archbishop. At the age of about 27, Wilfrid designed a magnificent new abbey at Ripon in Yorkshire with fine stonework using skilled men he had brought from France. He directly influenced the move away from Celtic to the more orderly Roman church practices and is best known for championing and winning the case for the Roman, as opposed to the Celtic method of calculating the date of Easter at the famous Synod of Whitby in 664. He became Bishop of York with a See covering the whole of Northumbria. During this time, he built magnificent stone churches at Ripon and Hexham, acquired vast landholdings and established monasteries in Northumbria, Mercia, Sussex and the Isle of Wight and converted Sussex, the last vestige of paganism, to Christianity.

This increased my desire to transform the performance of both executives and senior managers; and by that, to improve organisational performance too. This interest led me to the world of HR and in particular, guiding organisations through down-sizing processes; and supporting people through the redundancy experience – empowering them to become more self-aware and articulate their value to new potential employers. Specialising at executive and senior manager levels, means I make a real difference to them as individuals, drawing out their real values that positively impact on performance, profitability and stakeholder esteem; and therefore benefit new roles or organisations. For over 25 years, I have provided specialist and focused support to executives and senior managers spanning all key disciplines and the entire spectrum of industry, public sector and 3rd sector organisations. My interest is always in finding a better way to help smooth the process; guiding clients in a more professional way through each stage of their career transition – always with high quality and unlimited 1:1 support – and a unique approach supported by technical reasoning and psychological evidence.
