National Back Exchange (referred to as “NBE”) is a non-profit membership association whose goal is to develop, disseminate and promote evidence-based best practice in all aspects of moving and handling and musculoskeletal health. It is run on a voluntary basis by a National Executive elected from the membership and administered from a central office in Gosforth, Newcastle. NBE’s vision for “Excellence in all aspects of moving and handling” is supported with aims to reflect the growing recognition and significance of its work. The association consults widely with other organisations / stakeholders having similar goals and actively contributes to national working parties and projects as well as supporting research and practice development. ‘Column’, the journal of NBE, provides a valuable means of communication and is supported by web-based members’ forums where topics can be freely discussed and advice sought. Since 1992 NBE has run a highly respected and successful 3 day residential conference in September for people with an interest in moving and handling. The membership of NBE includes professionals from a wide range of disciplines, including: Health and social care Therapies Education Health and safety Ergonomics Equipment manufacturing Industry The development of an Advanced Membership category (similar to a post graduate diploma) in 2006 has increased the professionalism and recognition of personnel engaged in this field. Networking and support of our members is facilitated by an interactive website, including a membership directory, links with organisations who share similar goals (both at home and 3abroad). NBE has a number of local affiliated groups located throughout the UK which run meetings on a regular basis. The local groups are an excellent way to promote networking, to share and disseminate information and support members at a local level. NBE also provides a number of resources to support and develop practice including a series of information leaflets and professional publications.

Foundation funding will be primarily directed to programs that address issues within our three focused program areas that impact children in these identified vulnerable neighborhoods of greater Long Beach. Long Beach, the 7th largest city in California, is on one hand a city of great resources: culturally rich, boasting beautiful ecological features, and home to esteemed higher educational institutions. On the other hand, it is a city of great needs: facing high levels of poverty and its multiple effects, environmental pollution, and rising housing costs. Over the years, Long Beach has become “a tale of two cities,” where certain neighborhoods are characterized by the benefits and resources of affluence and other neighborhoods are bearing the brunt of low incomes, decreased resources, and the challenges of communities of poverty. *Slides & facts courtesy of the Long Beach Community Action Partnership, LBCAP.org Long Beach’s areas of affluence—concentrated primarily on the east side of Long Beach– are characterized by high annual median family incomes, longer life expectancy, higher employment levels, and overall community safety. Areas of critical need are concentrated primarily within North, West Central, and Southwest Long Beach. These neighborhoods experience high levels of poverty, exposure to environmental pollutants, and low levels of educational attainment. Families and children in these areas face great barriers in accessing health care resources, support in early education and educational attainment, and affordable arts programming. These neighborhoods also contain the largest concentration of children in the city.

Our friendly comprehensive swimming programme is spread across 29 progressive levels suitable for the early introduction of babies, from 10 weeks old in our Level 1, right through to children of approximately 7 or 8 years in our Child Level 29. We not only teach the children how to swim but also, water confidence, water safety and when older, snorkeling, rescue and how to use underwater scooters! And you can choose between many venues with weekday or weekend classes Not only has the Aquatots programme been carefully enhanced and adapted over the 22 years to be the best Baby, Toddler and Child swimming program available, but we also take care to ensure that the babies and children are swimming in a suitable and warm environment. For example our baby classes will always be taught in warm, shallow private pools ensuring the perfect relaxed surroundings for new parents and first time swimmers. Once the children are able to swim independently, we move to bigger pools providing the extra space required, so all swimmers are encouraged to develop their skills to their maximum potentials. We also want and need our parents to join us in the water throughout the programme, even into the later swim levels. This not only keeps this activity as a shared family event ensuring learning continues outside of our lessons, on holiday for example, but also avoids that common issue in many other swim clubs without parents, where children sadly spend lots of wasted time waiting for a Teacher to swim with each one individually. During that time they often start to get bored and lose their enthusiasm. Having a parent in the water ensures that each child has a personal assistant at all time, to enhance and speed up the learning process altogether.

We currently provide entertainment for ages 0 – 5 years and up to reception in schools. We can perform just about anywhere! We are fully insured to provide children’s entertainment and educational music sessions and have met or exceeded all health and safety guidelines. All staff are DBS checked and have been through a series of training under the Little Notes umbrella. Representatives are always kept up to date with new legislation so that you know your child is getting a high quality experience! Little Notes Music Club! was first opened in 2010 by Gemma. I am a dedicated Mother of three and I hold many years of experience with children, as I was previously a Childminder and Nursery Manager. I hold a BA HONS degree in Early Childhood and Education so you will always know that Little Notes has been built on a firm foundation of experience! At Little Notes Music Club! we hold a good understanding of children and their need to have fun and at the same time we hope to use our skills and knowledge to help children learn. Find out more here --- RHET SBCI can help you with: Farm Visits Classroom Speakers Resources Projects Events Farm Visits For Primary and Secondary schools RHET SBCI has a number of farms in the area with a network of volunteer farmers and their families who kindly give their time to support RHET. A farm visit can support many areas of the curriculum such as environmental studies, IT and business studies, technology, science, mathematics and enterprise. Visits are provided from Level 1, linked to experiences and outcomes, and compliment DYW, STEM and LfS agendas. We carry out regular risk assessments of all participating farms to the standard recommended in the Health and Safety Executive’s Guidelines on Educational Excursions. Around two weeks prior to the actual visit, the class teacher will visit the farm with our Project Coordinator to meet the farmer, walk the route and check over the risk assessment. Classroom Talks For Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools. We have a network of trained classroom speakers, made up of volunteer farmers from the local area, who can visit your school and bring farming and the countryside to life. Once a booking has been confirmed, the speaker will contact the teacher to discuss the format, content of the session and curriculum links.
