Southsea

Perfect Skin Solutions was founded by Dr. Dev Patel, our medical director, who was surprised by the lack of medical training some providers have, due to the limited regulations currently in place for treatments such as Botox® and Dermal Fillers. He has over 20 years of experience working in various specialities, during which he developed a particular interest in dermatology and minor/aesthetic surgery. Perfect Skin Solutions was born out of this interest, initially, only providing non-surgical solutions to prevent and treat the signs of ageing. With an ever-growing client base and remit of services, we made the inevitable move to our own clinic premises in Southsea, in June 2014. This allowed our Skin Clinic to merge with the highly successful Podiatry/Chiropody Service run by Nishal Patel. We strive to remain up-to-date with the latest advances in our fields and aim to reflect this in the treatment options we provide, whilst considering cost-effectiveness and clinical efficacy. From laser treatments for fungal nail infection to non-surgical facelifts with naturally-based hyaluronic acid, we believe that our passion for what we do allows us to stay ahead of the competition. We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and client loyalty. We are a local company and do not use visiting doctors from outside the area. Our clinical team is made up of practitioners following the same ethos and highest of standards. If you have any questions or concerns, we are here for you. Traveling to the Clinic By Rail: The nearest station is Fratton (on London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour route). After exiting the train, walk up the set of steps towards the front of the train. At top of the steps, turn RIGHT for taxis/Uber or turn LEFT if walking to the clinic (15-minute walk). By Car: There are variable parking restrictions around the clinic. However, there is currently free and unlimited parking in the nearby side roads till 1630 or 1730 (roads leading off Winter Rd opposite the clinic). If you are likely to be in clinic after that time, please use either the 1 hour (free) zone immediately in front of the clinic or for longer stays, the 3 hour (free) zone 2 parades north of the clinic (outside Q Build and David Antony). Unfortunately, we cannot take responsibility for any parking fines and ask that you read any parking signs carefully to avoid receiving a parking ticket. Accommodation: There are numerous good value hotels within walking distance or short taxi ride. Please let us know if you need any advice or assistance in this regard or with any other travel arrangements.

Exeter

At STAR Exeter, teaching is based on communicative principles. Teachers take account of students’ backgrounds, needs, learning styles, strengths and weaknesses. A variety of approaches are employed, ranging from more formal structured activities to freer task-based exercises. A big proportion of class time is devoted to genuine communication. Students are valued for the knowledge and experience they bring, and are encouraged to share this with each other, supported by the teacher. We find this is the key to building students’ confidence in communicating in English. Morning classes follow a recognised course book of the appropriate level. Supplementary materials are taken from a wide variety of sources, including authentic listening texts, newspapers and videos, so that each student’s interests and needs are catered for. Skills work is also an important part of the curriculum, giving students a balance between learning grammar and vocabulary, and practising the skills of listening, speaking (including pronunciation), reading and writing. Independent learning is encouraged, and students are given advice on how to continue their learning at home, when they are out and about in Exeter, and when they return to their own country. Homework is set regularly, checked by the teacher and remedial work is given if necessary. Each student has an Individual Learning Plan. Through weekly tutorials, the student is guided in the areas he/she needs to focus on, and the teacher can adjust the syllabus according to individual interests and requirements. Afternoon Academic Skills classes The afternoon lessons complement the morning General English course by providing an opportunity for students to activate their language, with output, rather than input, being emphasized. The syllabus is therefore topic-based, focussing on real-life communication and transactional English. Students have a direct input in the choice of topics for the afternoon lessons. We have a wide variety of specialised material at all levels, which teachers use to build lessons around. Vocabulary exercises, reading texts, and listenings are used as springboards for further work. Errors are corrected as students speak, and teachers often highlight areas of difficulty, in order for more in-depth practice. Afternoon classes are also ideal for focussing on pronunciation. IELTS Exam Preparation classes Students work to gain competence in all four study skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing) to obtain the result/score they need. Students develop strategies to carry out IELTS tasks in class and be prepared for the exam conditions in the near future. Lessons ensure that students have the necessary language to successfully deal with the exam components, and practice strategies needed to cope with the exam questions: integrated grammar, vocabulary, spelling and pronunciation. Teachers build students’ confidence in their abilities and sustain their motivation, and give students feedback on their progress by using real IELTS materials. A variety of IELTS-specific resources are used to maximise your achievement.

London

The London Suzuki Group ( LSG ) was founded in 1972 and was the first group in the United Kingdom to teach music by the Suzuki Method. With 60 qualified teachers and over 600 children currently receiving tuition, the LSG runs individual and group classes, orchestral and chamber music courses, workshops and an annual residential summer course at Bryanston School in Dorset. The group offers instruction in violin, viola, cello, piano, flute, recorder and voice. Public and private concerts are regularly organised at venues throughout London and elsewhere, providing much more than the opportunity to learn an instrument. Children and parents form lasting friendships. Parents and teachers are able to share experience and ideas. Music, and the love of music, becomes a natural part of the life of the whole family. Talent is not a prerequisite The Suzuki approach stimulates and develops musical abilities inherent in all children. Despite its sustained record of success exemplified in the many distinctions won by LSG students in music examinations, competitions and scholarships to major schools and conservatoires, the LSG’s overriding achievement is the provision of joy through music making, and the enrichment of the lives of the families involved in the learning process. Sohbet Society

sohbet society

London

Sohbet Society is a non-profit organisation (limited by guarantee company registration no.11613566) providing religious learning and spiritual activities for Muslims. Sohbet is a Turkish word and means ‘to talk, converse, discuss and engage with one another in a friendly, caring, warm and informal manner’. In our context, we use the word sohbet to mean to converse with one another in a study or discussion circle on the big questions of God, purpose, meaning, faith, religion, and society. Through Sohbet Society, we provide opportunity for religious learning and spiritual growth and development for Muslims in Britain. We achieve this through a series of activities including study groups, mentoring, outreach, retreats, excursions and social action. Religious and spiritual learning is achieved through semi-structured study groups as well as practical experiences such as social action and retreats. In all, we aim to offer a friendly, positive and constructive form of authentic religious expression and an environment for genuine spiritual experience that speaks both to the mind and heart, to the personal and social needs of the individual. We believe this nurtures a religious understanding and spiritual mindset that emphasises peaceful social relations and respect for human diversity and dignity. Sohbet Society is an active component of Hizmet, an Islamically inspired social movement that focuses on education, dialogue, and disaster and poverty relief work. It originated in Turkey in the 1970s based on the teachings and scholarship of Fethullah Gülen, an Islamic scholar and peace advocate. Today, Hizmet is active in over 160 countries worldwide. Like other social movements Hizmet includes formalised entities and organisations, but is largely based on informal networks and practices. The Sohbet Society is now formalising Hizmet’s pre-existing informal grass-roots religious activism in the UK in order to achieve greater visibility, transparency, professionalism, and structure so that we may be able to diversify the people who benefit from our services and to further develop our projects and services.

The Feminine Principle

the feminine principle

Cardigan

We all come from woman, from a mother, and yet woman and mother in today’s sense of the word have become so mired in a sense of who we ‘should’ be rather than who we truly are. Who is at the heart of ‘woman’ and ‘mother’, has been the centre of my attention for as long as I can remember. Having been born to a single 19-yr-old young woman in the 70’s, who suffered greatly bringing me into the world, and had to face the uncompromising prejudice of her status in the eyes of society and the health professionals who were supposed to offer care and support for us both. Two years later, she would choose to give me up for adoption, a decision which created a rupture in her relationship with her own mother, my maternal grandmother, who fought for legal custody of me to save me from a life in care. What behaviour and belief system drove this decision for both women, as individuals as part of the collective? What made one woman choose a different life separate from her child, while another dedicated her whole life to me? Who am I between these two generations of the motherline, and how do I reveal, heal and integrate the internal conflicts that arose for me as a woman and a mother within them? These have been questions that have fuelled my curiosity, desire and a deep longing to understand the hidden threads of the feminine that connect us all and define and shape the relationship we have with ourselves, others and our beloved planet from past, present and future, across lands, cultures and generations. A journey which has taken me through a BA/BSc in Psychology and Women’s Studies, Esoteric Goddess Wisdom and Matriarchal Cultures, through to the transcendental and metaphysical realms with an intensive 5-yr Shamanic Training, and an experiential path of Homoeopathy and Astrology that opened the deep cavernous space within me to explore the soul’s journey and the invisible threads that create our human nature.

Kew Learning

Kingston Upon Thames

Kew Learning combines all the advantages of private tutoring with those of learning in a classroom environment. Many children struggle in large classes at school, as teachers are unable to meet the individual needs of 30+ students at any given time: some children are left to struggle through work they do not fully understand, while others may be bored and unstimulated by work they find too easy. At Kew Learning, by working with small groups, we can provide tailored, sensitive support and teaching according to the needs of your child, while also maintaining the focused, collaborative environment of a school classroom. Our lessons cover multiple fields, from curricular subjects like English and Maths from primary to secondary level, to extra-curricular activities such as Mandarin Chinese, Junior Computer Programming, Speech & Drama, Chess, Painting and tuition in Musical Instruments. Our courses are specially designed for different age groups, so you can rest assured that your child will receive the best support for their educational needs, as well as learning in a fun, stimulating environment. Inspiring Tutors At Kew Learning, the quality of our tutors is at the heart of what we do. All of our tutors are hand-picked for their experience and expertise in their given fields, so you can expect only the best teaching for your child. We look for tutors who have a genuine passion for their subjects, which they can instil and inspire in their students. All of our tutors are DBS checked and undergo a rigorous application process to ensure that they are driven, academically accomplished and, most importantly of all, inspiring teachers. Moreover, we ensure that our tutors are equipped with the best teaching resources, lesson plans and materials to ensure that your child learns according to a constructive and progressive scheme of work. This also allows us to assess and respond to each child’s individual needs and to gain a thorough understanding of how they learn, while providing parents with periodical academic reports so you can stay up to speed with your child’s progress. Exciting Learning Environment Children learn best when they are engaged, focussed and comfortable. Our Twickenham centre is a lively, friendly and well-equipped teaching environment, but most importantly it is a safe place where children can feel at home and develop a passion for learning. We’re confident that the moment you step into the centre, you’ll want to sign up for our classes, come see for yourself! A Culture Of Encouragement At Kew Learning we celebrate every child. Too often, schooling can focus on test results, league tables and assessment criteria. We recognise, however, that the best teaching is achieved by developing the confidence of the individual and ensuring that, for them, every learning experience is a positive experience. Certificates, stickers, reward boards and our prize cabinet are just some of the ways that we celebrate our students’ efforts and achievements. Furthermore, a great deal of research shows that rewarding children for persistence and thinking intuitively has a positive effect on their academic attainment. As such our reward system focusses not only on results, but also on the quality of thinking and the process of reaching those results. Frequent & Open Communication You know your child better than anyone. That’s why it’s important that you are involved every step of the way. Tutor’s written feedback after every session ensures you are always kept up to date with your child’s progress. What’s more, our monthly reports give you a thorough and comprehensive insight into your child’s work, areas where they may be struggling and their progress through the curriculum. We’re always available to discuss progress and answer questions, keeping you up to date curricular developments and offering parent information evenings on a whole range of topics.
