All models for your training will be provided by Peaches as part of the academy service, we will also carry out our own thorough consultation with the models along with our new Covid-19 screening consultation, keeping everyone safe and well. The rest of the club will remain open but whilst we will make every effort to keep disruption to a minimum there will be members of our maintenance team in the gym throughout this period. We have opened access to all Glasgow clubs for members so for a workout there, please head over and use your QR code to enter. Acclimatise to the cold water. Do this over time, take colder showers, introduce yourself slowly to the cold, build up your time in the water slowly. You may wish to wait until temperatures rise rather than starting in the ‘cold season’. Wear what YOU need. Don’t be put off if you need to wear a wetsuit rather than swimming ‘skins’ it really doesn’t matter! If wearing a wetsuit make sure it is on correctly (Some Tips here) and is a good fit – you may need lubricant to prevent rub (we like coconut oil for this purpose). You may like to consider a neoprene cap, rash vest, ear plugs or wear two caps. Neoprene gloves and socks are also great for keep your extremities warm. Shoes are good for safety underfoot. You don't know what hazards are underneath the water. We are all different wear what is right for you. Know the risks. Know the risks of cold water swimming in terms of hypothermia and cold water shock. If you have any medical conditions check with your doctor before starting a new cold water hobby. Have some knowledge about where you are swimming such as safe entry and exit points, submerged obstacles, water craft, tides and currents etc Don’t swim alone. Even experienced swimmers can get into trouble if you can’t pair up with a swim buddy have someone spot from the shore. Look out for each other

I’m a writer and teacher and I’ve been sharing my heart online since 2006. I’m the author of This I Know: Notes on Unraveling the Heart and my mission is to help people access their creative joy and nurture a deeper relationship with themselves. Words have been at the centre of my world for as long as I can remember. I started writing a diary aged 11 and grew not only a life-long journaling practice but also an unending curiosity about my place in the world. Studying photography at art school followed by a degree in journalism lead to me working as a journalist for many years, but the truth is my life, as I now know it, began in the spring of 2005 when the man I loved died very suddenly from a heart attack — everything I thought I knew about life changed in that instant. Walking through the fire of bereavement is how I truly came to inhabit every part of who I am, the shadows as well as the light. In 2006 I started writing a blog and being able to share my thoughts and feelings online was incredibly empowering, my way of getting back out there from the safety of my living room. Blogging helped reopen the door to my creativity, connecting me to other souls around the world as I found my way back to what was meaningful for me.
