After all, I have worked with so many talented, amazing women who are entrepreneurs and experts and business leaders; why were there not more opportunities for women to speak on stage and be recognised as in-demand business experts? That’s why I decided to start my Des O’Connor Women In Business (WIB) events. I launched my first Women In Business event in London in September 2017, with the goal of inspiring women to become business experts, build brands, deliver value to their clients, and sell their expertise to a global audience. In the years since, I have put more than 150 people on stage at my events (many of them women, many first-time speakers) and I have helped create a more expansive community for women in business (and men too). I also provide business consulting for business experts, entrepreneurs, professional speakers, coaches, and companies that need help with social media marketing, digital marketing, webinar marketing, website development, online lead generation, and more. I know what it is like to be that child who dances around the living room, who lives, dreams and breathes dance 24hrs a day and who needs that special mentor to fine tune that raw talent and guide you in the right direction.. I also know what a daunting yet exciting time in life it is to transition from dance school to dance college and make that big decision of finding the right studio/home for you to thrive and set you up for an exhilarating career.

Some of our best childhood memories involve dance. From creating routines in the garden with friends, to proudly hanging certificates on the wall; from being mesmerized by the Flamenco dancers on holiday, to the excitement of getting new ballet or tap shoes... And of course there was dance class each Saturday and all that came with it - fun, friends, performances, new skills, achievements. Some years on, those children are now the teachers. Dance routines with friends in the garden are less common (although not completely unheard of!) and we hope to provide the kind of fond memories for our dancers that have always stayed with us. Dance for all Our philisophy is making dance accessible to all. West London School of Dance is proud to be part of English National Ballet’s Ballet Futures: The Pipeline Project. This new children’s training programme aims to encourage and incentivise more dancers from traditionally underrepresented groups (African Diaspora, Caribbean, South Asian and South East Asian heritage) to participate in professional ballet training at the earliest possible point. Run in association with English National Ballet, this platform will provide gifted and talented young dancers aged 8 and above the training and space to grow into their potential as young artists. Following an audition, the participants will receive: free weekly training at our school financial support towards shoes and school uniform the chance to work with English National Ballet

If you’re wondering if you could try Fair Isle knitting, double cloth weaving, nuno felting or natural dyeing we can help. If you’re looking for some time out, we are true believers in the mental health benefits of crafts. It’s a moment to stop and focus on one thing. It has always been all about dogs. My journey started in a local pet rescue centre where in seven years I have probably seen everything: various pet illnesses, serious behavioural issues, rehabilitation and success cases, you name it - I bet I have a story or two about it. Let me tell you a secret, though: once you become a volunteer, it does not take long until you rescue your first dog. I was not an exception and soon enough Beta joined our crazy family. Now, this is the point in the story where I immersed myself into dog training - my dog was far from perfect. It makes me smile now to remember all the chewed leashes, carpets, mom's shoes (it honestly seemed like Beta just enjoyed the expensive ones best). Oh, do not forget leash reactivity, barking at the house and doors shredded to pieces (I'm still convinced she was aiming for a Louvre worth art piece)! A number of dog psychology and training seminars, workshops, classes and courses were where you would have found me during my free time. At the same time, I started my professional dog show handling career and traveled around Europe showing dogs I trained. It was a no brainer what I want to do when I came to Scotland and so Sky Walks Glasgow was born. Two years later I finished my first diploma with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) and kept helping people to become the coolest puppy parents! Dog and girl sitting in the nature What once started as a hobby has grown into this big team of four-legged stars and their humans that just could not fit under the old name anymore. So we grew. It's my pack and we are Sky Walkers! I was never about simply giving you instructions on what to do. Ruth Adams founded Second Chance Ballet circa 1965 Ruth's classes at the Crescent Arts Centre attracted numerous students of all ages, genders and ranges of experience. Ruth was inspiring and exceedingly patient, and had great artistic flair which extended to intricate costumes and beautiful props for her students’ performances. She saw the best in her students and always reminded them to keep smiling and keep breathing no matter how difficult the exercises were. Ruth was working in Dublin, when cycling home one day, she heard the sound of music and followed its strains to a ballet studio. She was greeted by a vision, just like the ballet dancer in the film, the Red Shoes, who inspired her to establish her career as a dancer and then as a teacher. She moved on to train in Belfast with the late Maxine Graham, a highly-respected local tutor, to become a member of the Royal Academy of Dance. She subsequently got involved with the Lurgan Operatic and Ulster Operatic Company as a performer and choreographer as well.
