Date: 24th October 2023 Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Sorcha Kurien-Walsh, a former pupil at Central Film School, has kindly agreed to join us to discuss her career as a TV screenwriter and her work on the upcoming comedy series Rivals, set to star David Tennant and Danny Dyer and release on Disney+ next year. Additionally, she will speak about her BBC Studios short film 'The Pink Pill', and answer any questions students may have about working as a screenwriter in the TV industry. Make sure to come along and bring questions to ask her!

Time: 4pm Date: Thursday 9th November Location: Studio A Writer and director Andrew Legge joins us via Zoom for this exclusive screening event, where we'll be showing his recently released film 'LOLA' in Studio A, followed by a discussion and Q+A. Set during World War 2, the film charts the amazing invention by two sisters of a computer that's able to show glimpses of the future. By altering events in the present, the world changes around the two women, as time and space reach near breaking point. One of the best underground films to come out this year, be sure to come and see it, and then get a chance to speak to the man who made it afterwards!

DATE: 18th January TIME: 6PM LOCATION: Curzon Soho Theatre, 99 Shaftesbury Avenue, W1D 5DY BOOKING DEADLINE: 9th January SONY SCREENINGS have invited CFS students to attend an exclusive, complimentary screening of Michael Mann's motorsports biopic Ferrari, at the Curzon Soho Theatre on Thursday 18th January. It will consist of welcome drinks from 6 o'clock, with the screening itself starting at 6:40pm. After the screening there will be networking until 11pm. This great event MUST BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE, and has limited availability. ONE TICKET may be booked per CFS student (sorry, no plus-ones this time). The deadline to book onto this is Tuesday 9th January. It will be first come first served, and tickets will be booked according to remaining availability from the organisers. Date: Thursday 15th June Time: 4pm Location: Studio A - Landor Road Event Details: Tim Haines is a television producer and director, having worked on several highly-respected documentary and drama productions over a storied career. Tim will speak about the following topics as well as others at the event: Approaches to Documentary How a Documentary Gets Made The Purpose of a Documentary Modern Combinations of CGI & Live Action Throughout students will have the chance to ask questions about the topics being discussed, before wrapping up with a wider Q+A session at the end. A multiple Emmy and BAFTA winner, Tim has worked on many well known series, including: - Walking with Dinosaurs - Director & Producer - Primeval - Producer - The Loch - Producer - Surviving Earth (currently in production) - Producer This is a free event that all students are welcome to attend. Be sure to book tickets in advance though so that you don't miss out!

DATE: 15th February TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Classroom 2 St John Ambulance have kindly agreed to provide a First Aid Safety Information workshop to any interested Central Film School students. Areas of focus will include how to be safe on a night out, and also how to handle injuries specific to film sets (burns, electrocution, etc.) This is fantastic information to have both for your professional development and personal life. You never know when you may one day need to call upon what you've learnt. Be sure to book in advance and email academics@centralfilmschool.com if there are any issues or questions.

Join us for some festive fun as we close out the first term of the year with our CHRISTMAS PARTY! Taking place from 5pm at ARCH Clapham (next to Clapham High Street overground station), it'll be a relaxed atmosphere with music, drinks and good cheer. Drinks tokens will be given out to those attending so please be sure to book your tickets in advance so we know how many of you to expect.

Date: 31st October Time: 4pm Location: Studio A A classic of the horror genre and 1970s cinema, The Exorcist focuses on a battle of wills between a troubled priest and the demon possessing a young girl. William Friedkin's masterpiece of terror is one of the essential scary films everyone needs to see.

Featuring a wide variety of different visual stories, genres, themes and ideas, we are proud to be showcasing all these films in Studio A on the big screen! Be sure to book your ticket to come along to our school's own miniature film festival!

DATE: Tuesday 11th June TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Join us for a frank and informative discussion on mental health, how best to maintain and support yourself and others during times of stress and anxiety. Hosted by our very own school counsellor, Alice Coyle, this session will be a great way for you learn new key skills that will develop your own mental health and help you cope with everyday stress, both from personal circumstances and school assessments. We hope to see you all there!
