Having been a keen sportsperson from a young age, I know first-hand what exercise has done for me in my life. This helped develop my passion for helping others to learn the benefits of exercise for themselves. As a mum of two boys who has lived through divorce, car accidents, broken ribs, a gall bladder operation, heart palpitations and a prolapsed disk, my life has certainly had its ups and downs. As a working mum, I have juggled bringing up my boys with both full and part-time employment, whilst using evenings and weekends to set up my private fitness business, teach classes and support women. So I know what it’s like to be a busy woman …. What I have learnt…. How our life’s journey affects our health, the impact of life’s pressures and just being a busy mum. We often find it is hard to put ourselves first, but neglecting our own health and wellbeing can cause weight gain, reduce energy levels, affect sleep and how we cope with stress. This can eventually lead to low self-esteem, anxiety and depression. While recovering from various illnesses and injuries, I have learnt that planning, preparation and determination are essential. It is this positive mindset that I'd like to pass on to my clients. What I can do for you…. Sometimes we need to take stock of where we are, what we want to achieve and set goals to help us take control of our future. I can help you understand how to achieve your goals and appreciate what changes you need to make. I have developed a passion for women’s health from pre & post-natal exercise to menopause and older women. As I started the menopause early and have tried a variety of methods to relieve the symptoms including HRT, I wanted to learn more about the effects of menopause on women. By understanding what happens to our bodies on an almost scientific bases I begun to realise how menopause has such an impact on so many aspects of our minds and bodies. It has become such an interesting journey learning more about menopause and how we need to change the way we eat, exercise, sleep, deal with stress and so much more. I am continually learning and researching women’s health. Every time I do a course one of the groups will ask another new question and I will do my best to go away and find out an answer if I do not know it myself. This us how I will learn with you. We will celebrate wins however small, recognising achievements can help us visualise the end goal and that it is reachable. Our classes are hands on and we hope that you learn a new skill and have a great time doing it! We aim to provide a creative learning environment to support and inspire fellow crafters. Alongside offering current and innovative workshop classes we want to promote historical textile crafts and share these endangered crafts to encourage their revival. Hi, I’m Jane Barrett, co-founder of The Career Farm and co-author of “Taking charge of your career”. I started my career in in-house recruitment (recruiting MBAs for PricewaterhouseCoopers) and retained search consultancy for blue-chip clients, private companies and start-ups across a variety of sectors including Finance, IT and FMCG. As a recruiter it was clear to me that many well-qualified MBA and Masters candidates were poorly prepared for the interview process, and were unable to explain what they wanted and what they had to offer. This lack of preparation meant that good candidates were failing to get offers. We founded The Career Farm to support the careers teams at Business Schools across the UK and Europe, using our 3-step “GPS” process to help students get better jobs on graduation. Over the years we’ve worked with thousands of students, originally in face-to-face workshops and more recently through our online courses. The Bigger Picture The work we do with Business Schools and our corporate clients helps to support “The Future of Work”, a not-for-profit initiative aligned with the UN Sustainability Goals that gives young people an opportunity to explore the jobs that will help our economies and communities meet the diverse challenges of the 21st century. Smartkids Tuition Centre near Wombourne, Wolverhampton We are a multimedia tuition centre based in Wombourne, on the outskirts of Wolverhampton. Most of our students come from all areas of Wolverhampton, Kingswinford, and Dudley as well as Wombourne. However, we even have children who come from as far afield as Sutton Coldfield and Stoke on Trent! Here at Smartkids, we offer private and small group tuition on a range of different subjects. These include 11+ preparation, ICT, KS1 and KS2 Maths and English, and KS2 SATs practice. For older students, we offer tutoring for both KS3 and KS4 in Science, English, Maths, Humanities, Languages and of course, ICT. As a tuition centre, Smartkids Learning Success Centre is unique because we are also registered as an exam centre. Through us, students as young as 10 sit OCR Level 2 Diploma in Computer User Skills. This exam is aimed at adult learners and is not only comparable to achieving 3 A*-C grades at GCSE, but is also a qualification recognised and accepted by 6th forms, colleges, and employers. We are especially proud of the fact that not only do our youngsters have a 100% success rate at this level, but also, that the average age of our candidates is just 13 years old! The students who come to Smartkids for private tuition are all individual. Some are described by their school as gifted or talented, others are on the SEN register and have specific needs or learning difficulties. However, Smartkids Learning Success Centre is fully committed to tutoring all children regardless of individual skills and abilities.

Firstly, our programmes are completely personalised to each candidate; no two people have the same experience because we only train between 20 and 30 trainees each year. Unlike the big university models where you would be one of 200 trainee teachers, we tailor the year to maximise your skills and you will therefore be better prepared to teach. We have our own supportive SCITT community, our own wellbeing programme and our own life coach. Secondly, because our trainees don’t have to attend University lectures, we have time to give them a bespoke enhancement programme running alongside the mainstream school placements. Our secondary trainees have the opportunity to teach in primary schools, pupil referral units, Special Educational Needs settings, work with CAHMS and teach in Sixth Forms. They also spend time at our local private schools to teach children with English as an additional language. Again, trainee curriculum design is tailored to maximise preparation. Thirdly, our programmes are competitively priced because we know graduates are already carrying huge university debts. We charge £7705 for QTS, as opposed to £9000, but we also give a free qualification for secondary trainees in addition to QTS so they leave as qualified Teachers of the PSHE Association [Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education]. This gives them an edge over other candidates when applying for jobs, and fully prepares them for teaching beyond the curriculum and preparing their pupils for life in modern Britain.
