In the spring of 1965 a few members of Belmont church were concerned that their children, born in 1961, would not have a place in Belmont primary school in September 1965 as there were too many children for the place available, and it was felt that there was a need for a playgroup. Belmont Church was approached to see if a hall could be used for the group. All financial and other arrangements were organised by the church committee and in May 1965 Belmont Pres-School Playgroup opened its doors in Belmont Church. Belmont was the first Nippa run playgroup in Northern Ireland. UTV broadcast a programme from Belmont around 1980-81 which was hosted by Frank Carson and starred the children and staff. Funds were raised through hosting coffee mornings and it was also an opportunity to meet parent and children on a social basis. We remained at Belmont Presbyterian Church until June 2002 when we were to move to pastures new at Belmont Tower. However we were accommodated by St Mark’s Church due to awaiting completion of renovations to Belmont Tower. We spent from September 2002 to April 2004 at St Marks and moved to Belmont Tower in May 2004. In June 2006 the preschool room was awarded an accreditation by NIPPA (The Early Years Association) which was a great achievement. We spend a happy two years in Belmont Tower but when our lease finished we were grateful to St Marks for accommodating us on a temporary basis. We spent over a year in St Mark’s Heyn Hall offering a variety of indoor and outdoor play in a happy and relaxed atmosphere. In November 2008 we were filmed for the Peoples Millions with the support of the community, past pupils, staff , friends, family and our current parents, we won the £50,0000, that with our past fundraising events and the support of the Education Authority we obtained enough funds for a new build which commenced building in February 2009 and was completed 3rd April 2009. We opened our doors on the 20th April 2009 and with the opportunity of new ventures for the playcare.

The 100th BOOBS Approved venue is a new cafe-bar in Swinton, Salford. Hadfields cafe became BOOBS Approved after opening just weeks ago.Be Open on Breastfeeding Salford (B.O.O.B.S) and our sister project BOOBS in Bury are open community groups set up to empower women to be open about their breastfeeding experiences and inspire others to breastfeed for longer. We believe every mum should have the chance to have a happy, safe and comfortable breastfeeding journey. BOOBS is part of our parent social enterprise Visit from the Stork CIC and was first set up in 2014 by CEO Kimberly Bond. The project is led by Rachel Parkinson (Project Manager), Kerry Purle (Administrator and Peer support lead) and our team of amazing volunteers. Meet our team here. We support mums by; Offering online and face-to-face breastfeeding support across Salford and Bury, Running monthly social and educational Breastfeeding cafe events at our BOOBS Approved venues in Salford and Bury Holding antenatal ‘A BOOBS introduction to Breastfeeding’ sessions for mums-to-be, currently in Prestwich but open to all mums. Pram walks and small meetups in Radcliffe, Bury Campaigning for mums to be supported in the community through our BOOBS Approved campaign. Offering a membership scheme with exclusive discounts at our BOOBS venues to support families and local businesses.

Newcastle Quran School is an established Quran teaching school located in Newcastle upon Tyne UK. The school is run by a group of highly qualified Quran teachers who are keen on teaching Quran memorisation and recitation to Muslims in the UK and abroad. After five successful years and more than 200 learners memorising one chapter (juz’) to the entire Holy Quran, we’ve decided to expand our reach and start our online school to serve the wider Muslim community in the UK. We teach students how to master reciting the Quran using ‘Al Qaidah An-Noraniah’, which is a special method for teaching Quran recitation that has proven to be very efficient for learning and correcting pronunciation for native and non-native Arabic speakers. The school is a branch of a well-established Quran School in Menya, Egypt where thousands of students from all over the world memorised the Quran and graduated. (https://www.facebook.com/hafazatalquran/) The Principal and the Director of Newcastle Quran School are both Hafiz (memorised entire Quran) with Ijaza and they too are graduates from Menya in Egypt. Alongside other members of the school board, together they have founded the school in Newcastle as an extension to the school in Menya. The school follows a special curriculum developed by the parent school which is designed to help students memorise and revise the Quran in accordance with their individual abilities.

Parents/guardians are within their rights to seek consent to withdraw from the roll of a Highland school for home education rather than having them taught at one of the local authority schools. Who is entitled to home education? Any parent/guardian can choose to do this as long as they provide an efficient education that is suitable for the age, ability and aptitude of the child. Parents/guardians have a responsibility to seek consent from the Highland Council to withdraw from the school roll for home education (if in attendance at a Highland Council school). In line with the Scottish Government guidance, we aim to issue a decision within 6 weeks of the receipt of the original request. Until consent is granted the young person remains on the school roll and should attend school. If a family have moved into the Highland Council area from another local authority area in Scotland or another nation, the parents/guardians do not require the consent of the authority for home education. However, we do encourage families to contact us as the advice we can provide and the information about services for school aged children provided by the NHS, further education providers and Skills Development Scotland is found to be very helpful by families home educating. When you adopt you legally acquire full parental responsibility for the child, just like any other parent. Adoption is a way of making a real difference to a child, by giving them the love, stability and safe nurturing environment every child deserves. After adoption, all rights and responsibilities are transferred from the original parents to the adoptive parents. The child assumes the surname of the new parents, receives an adoption certificate to replace their birth certificate and becomes a permanent and full member of the new family. We believe that the stability of a forever family gives children the best possible chance of realising their full potential. Training and support will be provided to help you prepare for adoption and this support is continued for as long as you feel it is needed. Adopt South West aims to find safe, secure, permanent homes for children who are unable to live with their birth families. We work in partnership with Devon County Council, Plymouth City Council, Somerset County Council and Torbay Council.
