Course Description: The 18th edition course is a 3 day short course aimed at anyone involved in the design, construction and inspection and testing of electrical systems, also a nationally recognised ‘must have’ qualification for companies seeking to recruit electricians. It is intended to introduce the candidate to a working knowledge of the Wiring Regulations along with a brief overview of the Electricity at Work Regulations covering their statutory duties. Previous knowledge of the regulations is not assumed, however, a fundamental knowledge of electrical principles is assumed. Please be aware that the Wiring Regulations course is not designed to teach you every regulation in the book but it will teach you the best practices on how the reference the latest regulations as you would on the job. As such key topics currently covered on the 17th Edition will still be included. We have been delivering Wiring Regulations courses for many years and although it is mainly theory based you cannot beat real training in a real classroom. By training with other people in your class you will benefit from being able to ask relevant questions as well as finding the answers to many questions from your fellow students that you may not have even thought of. The examination is a 2 hour multiple choice, open book PC based examination with instant results. The course cost includes examination entry fees. Developing creative writing skills with a focus on imaginative writing, structuring, spelling, grammar and punctuation. The aim of the workshops is to help students to have written, or have made good progress on writing, their own 500 Word Short Story. We will be focussing on increasing range of vocabulary and language technique choices, along with introducing more advanced ideas about structuring stories; developing skills specifically pertinent to the Creative Writing tasks given in the English Language GCSE.

LOOKING FOR: ADULT FICTION, SCIENCE FICTION / FANTASY

After several years spent within publishing houses Bookouture, Canelo, Avon, One More Chapter and Head of Zeus, Hannah Todd became a Literary Agent at the Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency, before joining Janklow & Nesbit in January 2025. Hannah is keen to see commercial fiction across the board, but with a particular focus on romance, Science Fiction/Fantasy & mystery novels. She is drawn to books with exemplary characterisation, voice and strength of feeling. But don't let your characterisation overshadow the need for impeccable plot and if you can make her laugh or cry then you're onto a winner! 

Across the full light-dark spectrum Hannah especially loves SFF that features an unlikely band of heroes, like the Six of Crows series by Leigh Bardugo, Scott Lynch's Gentleman Bastard series, Becky Chambers' The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, T. Kingfisher's Nettle and Bone,and  the cosy themes/settings offered by Heather Fawcett and TJ Klune.

Hannah's advice is make sure you have a clear USP and hook: If you are sending your reader to a magical academy, or if we're riding dragons or waving wands, that's great! But what makes your book feel different and fresh? An excellent voice is key, but what else makes your take on these tropes stand out? An example of a phenomenal book that has turned the magical academy trope on its head, with layers of excellent world building, a unique magic system and plot twists galore is The Will of the Many by James Islington. If you have something crafted this beautifully then Hannah wants to see it!

Romantasy of varying spice levels, accessible to both romance and fantasy readers, is on Hannah's wishlist. And you can whisk her away with contemporary romance novels, romcoms, sweeping love stories that redefine the genre. Romcoms with great disability rep and LGBTQIA+ stories that focus on the joy of falling in love are high on Hannah's agenda. She particularly loves Emily Henry, Laura Wood and Abby Jiminez. Think more Nicholas Sparks than Sally Rooney, and Bonnie Garmus rather than Gabrielle Zevin. In this space, she is a big fan of Emma Donoghue, Bonnie Garmus and Jojo Moyes.

Meet with Hannah to discuss your crime and high-concept thrillers with an unsettling ‘it-could-happen-to-me’ feeling, coupled with a twist that's unseen until its delivery. The book she most wants to find in this space is something like Three Hours by Rosamund Lupton in both its themes (real-world emotional suspense) and its execution. Medication Awareness training is mandatory for all staff who are prompting or assisting clients to take their medications.
About this event
Medication Awareness training is for staff who have had never taken part in Medication training before or staff returning to the profession.
By the end of the course, you will be able to:
Understand medication types and uses
Learn legal and ethical responsibilities
Master medication administration procedures
Know proper storage and disposal methods
Recognize and respond to adverse effects
Develop communication and record-keeping skills
Apply person-centred approaches
Conduct risk assessments.

Before you book:
Please do not send along staff who have just worked a nightshift or who will be visiting clients immediately before or immediately after a training session. People arriving tired, stressed or late cannot gain the most benefit from a training course. We reserve the right to turn away individuals too exhausted to focus on the training or staff who turn up late for a course and disturb the flow of the proceedings.
All CH Care Training courses are fully inclusive, but if you have any concerns about a member of staff's ability to participate because of physical, sensory or learning differences then please let us know in confidence in advance, so that we may make the appropriate adjustments.

Cancellations
CH Care Training operates a sliding scale of cancellation; If you cancel more than two weeks before the start date of a course, you can ask for a full refund, to change the names of the delegates being sent along, or to transfer a delegate to another training date. If you give less than two weeks but more than one week's notice of cancellation, 50 percent of the booking can be refunded. If you cancel less than a week from the training delivery date we wont be able to refund. There are no refunds for staff who do not turn up on the day of the training course.
If CH Care Training needs to change the date or cancel a course for any reason we will give you the maximum notice we can. In exceptional circumstances we may cancel a course due to extreme weather or circumstances at the training venue. You will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to transfer your booking to an alternative date.

Please ask your staff to read the following guidance before they attend the course:
Arriving at the Venue
The course will start promptly so please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time of the training to allow plenty of time to use the toilet, and be seated ready for the start of the course.
You can call Training direct on 0798 999 5180 if you are struggling to arrive on time. Please note that the meeting will be locked to late arrivals 10 minutes after the actual course starts.
When you arrive please come into Reception and a member of staff will come to book you in prior to directing you to the training room. This room is located on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible.

Covid-Secure Premises
Please do not attend the course if you have symptoms of Covid or are feeling unwell. 

During the course
As this is a working environment please ensure you allow the necessary time and focus to get the best from the material being presented. Please bring pen and paper to make notes during the course. Our training sessions are fun and very interactive. We will encourage plenty of comments, points of view and the sharing of lived experiences. Delegates should not share any sensitive information about a client or organisation. Our session agreement asks delegates to maintain confidentiality about individuals and organisations and to respect the views of others on the course.
All CH Care Training courses are inclusive, but if you have any concerns about your ability to participate, such as sensory or learning differences then please let the Trainer know in confidence before the start of a course, so that they may make the appropriate adjustments.
If the course contains practical elements such as Moving & Handling or First Aid, then please wear appropriate clothing to take part in these activities. You will be asked confidentially if you have any health concerns that could prevent you from taking part in the practical activities. Please let a Trainer know if you have any concerns about taking part in the practical courses.
Refreshments are provided for free. Please bring a packed lunch for any full-day courses.

After the course
We will email you a pdf of the course once the training has finished and we have checked that everyone was able to join. If your Manager booked you onto the course using your work or personal email, or if you book yourself onto a course, you will receive the pdf directly. If your Manager booked you onto the course using your organisation’s email address a copy of the course will be available on request from your Manager.
We will also email a link to an online evaluation and we ask that you please fill this in and return it to us so that we can continue to improve our services. All of our evaluations are gathered anonymously.

Medication Awareness training via Teams

The City and Guilds 2391-50 electrical course has been designed to meet the needs of the electrical installation industry, and is aimed at practising electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update of training before going on to other City and Guilds qualifications. Candidates who achieve the City and Guilds 2391-50 qualification could progress on to the City and Guilds 2391-51: the Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations. The City and Guilds 2391-50 course will focus on the teaching and learning of initial verification and certification of electrical installations. In order to claim the full City and Guilds 2391-50 qualification, students must successfully complete: One 1 hour 30 minute online multiple choice test to be completed during the courseOne 3 hour 30 minute practical test to be completed after the course, broken into two sections as follows:Task A – Initial Verification and Certification of the Complete Installation – 2hrs and 30minsTask B – Short Answer Questions – 1hr To further support this course, we offer a 1 day practical workshop (at the cost of £120.00 Net VAT) available to candidates who have completed the course and require further ‘hands on’ practical experience prior to their practical exam. Most students who take this option elect to complete this the day before their practical assessment. The City and Guilds 2391-50 course costs include examination entry fees.
