Short Circuit

short circuit

We aim to become a key hub for emerging fiction filmmaking talent in Scotland, supporting writers, directors and producers to develop creatively and professionally, and stimulating the creative and commercial success of Scotland’s film sector. Short Circuit has an international outlook, helping Scotland-based filmmakers navigate the hugely exciting opportunities of the short film and first feature world. Sharp Shorts Our short film scheme – Sharp Shorts – invites teams, writers and writer/directors to submit their short film ideas, and also encourages directors and producers to submit a note of interest to take part. This year, up to 12 projects will be selected to take part in a 3-month development phase. After pitching for a production award in September 2022, up to 9 projects will be selected to receive up to £15,000 of funding. Applications for Sharp Shorts 2022 are now closed. Further information is published here. First Features First Features supports projects from initial idea to fully polished draft. There will be two levels of awards, distinguished between early development (to treatment or first draft) and further development (second draft and beyond). You will be able to apply via the online application form for support at either level. The scheme is for writing, writing/directing and producing talent from all across Scotland who have bold and compelling fiction projects with theatrical ambition and the potential to resonate with audiences globally.

Merseyside

We go by many names, but you can be sure that the good people who make up our fantastic team are agile, ambitious and extremely talented. Get to know us a little more and find out who you need to speak to below. You never know what you might discover! Michelle is our Managing Director. If you’ve met her then you will already know what she is about. In fact, she has probably got you involved in the quest to inspire and engage our young people. If you’ve yet to met her…then what are you waiting for? There is always cake on standby. Always one for the non-traditional approach Michelle began her career as an apprentice Gas Service Engineer in the early 90's and was quickly identified as one to watch. Moving swiftly through the ranks she swapped her gas van for a BMW and began the challenge of management in a large organisation. Fast forward a few years & the first incarnation of the company, MerseySTEM was born out of the need to take action to provide a translation and engagement service between industry & education that is honest, effective & innovative. As the reputation and geography of 'her patch' grew All About STEM became the natural successor and the new name and vision was launched in 2016. Merseyside and beyond!! Businesses need to attract new talent in a fast paced technological world and schools need to equip our young people for the future at the same pace. But, critically, both are often inundated with information whilst facing their own sectors’ evolving challenges.

Make and Create

This project is Walthamstow born, Walthamstow grown and Walthamstow based. Inspired by the creative blood running through its heart and community spirit which binds us together. The driving idea behind Make and Create is a desire to bring people together to encourage creativity and community. Have you ever uttered the words "I wish I was more creative?". Then you have come to the right place, my friend. Make and Create project boxes are designed to remove barriers to creativity, by providing you with everything you need to make something useful or beautiful. Or both. Now wouldn't that make our old pal William Morris happy? Creativity is a verb. Not a quality you are born with, but an action. Creativity is not about talent. It is about doing. It is about courage. It is about absorbing yourself in something outside yourself. A release. A distraction to the constant internal hum. A form of meditation. Which brings me to the other reason I set up this project. Mental health. In a world where we spend so many hours of our day on social media, comparing our lives to the lives of others, it's easy to get caught up in the illusion that we are not good enough. Not beautiful enough. Not fit enough. Not adventurous enough. Put down the phone. Turn off your TV. Pick up a box. Make and Create E17 run workshops and private events across London. We will also be selling project boxes online - so watch this space for more details on that, and check out our events page for tickets to upcoming Make and Create evenings throughout the year. Think inside the box.
