Welcome to McCabe PilgrimagesMcCabe Educational Trust The McCabe Educational Trust (MET) was set up in 1991 to give structure to our support for the Christian communities that we meet on pilgrimage. We are humbled at the way pilgrims have responded, and to date the MET has distributed more than four million pounds in grants. Getting to know the Living Stones of the Holy Land is an integral part of every McCabe itinerary. A pilgrimage might include Sunday worship with a local congregation, a visit to the Jeel al Amal Boys Home and lunch at the Bethlehem Rehabilitation Centre. Our visits give encouragement and practical assistance to a community which now numbers less than 3% of the population of the Holy Land. We invite all travellers to become partners in this work. A optional donation to the MET’s work is added to each invoice and all money raised is given in full to the projects the MET supports. This is a voluntary scheme and nobody is put under any pressure to participate. The McCabe Educational Trust is a registered charity with an independent Board of Directors. No deductions are made for the charity’s administration as all running costs are paid by McCabe Pilgrimages.

Rob is an NVQ A1 assessor (administration and management) and has been an MSc assessor for Kingston University. His educational qualifications include BSc(Hons) (City University), MSc (Kingston University), NVQ Level 5 (Operational Management) and he is a Chartered Member of CIPD. Following a highly successful operational and training career in the Royal Navy, he is an experienced Bursar and financial manager. He has been instrumental in setting up a fast-track Academy as interim Finance Director, and has delivered consultancy in finance, governance and compliance. Angie is a fully qualified adult ESOL and EFL teacher (CertEd and Level 5 ESOL subject specialism - University of Southampton; TEFLA Certificate - University of Portsmouth) with over ten year's experience of ESOL and EFL teaching across the full range of proficiency in both class situations and tailored one-to-one tuition for individual and corporate clients. Her background is in commercial and sports management.

The University of Patras was founded in the city of Patras on 11 November 1964 as a self-governed Academic Institution under the supervision of the Greek Government. The University was initially established with the intention to focus on natural sciences, technology, economics, business administration and social sciences. The role of the University of Patras was to set an example of a highly qualified Higher Education Institution, thus serving as a stimulus for the modernization of the entire Greek Higher Education System, with priority given to the fields where highly trained personnel would be able to contribute to the economic development of the country. In the course of time, the above objectives had to be adapted to the new prospects arising from the recognition of the key role of knowledge and technology in social and cultural growth and of the contribution the University was expected to make towards addressing major regional, national and even international challenges. The inauguration of the University of Patras took place on 30 November 1966, on the same day as the celebration of Saint Andrew, the patron Saint of the city of Patras. For this reason, the emblem of the University is an X-shaped cross symbolizing the one on which St. Andrew was crucified.

The LSSM started the first ever Sports Massage course in September 1989. Set up and taught by Mel Cash, this was based on the first ever book on Sports Massage that he wrote the year before. We were also the first massage school to be externally validated by BTEC (the main Government-backed awarding body in the UK). Ours is a ‘Customised Qualification’ which we design ourselves and operate in the way we believe is best. BTEC then independently assess this and they approved our first Sports Massage qualification with a Level 4 standard. BTEC annually carry out a thorough audit of our whole operation to ensure we maintain the high standard and quality of our training. We have carefully designed our course to meet the needs of mature (non-school leaver) students looking for a new career which is why we run part-time courses at weekend spread over a longer period of time. The weekend classes are devoted mostly to teaching hands-on practical skills which can only be learned properly in a classroom along with other students and experienced tutors. The underpinning theory is now taught online so students can fit this in with their lives better. But LSSM has always been more than just a school, we are also the pioneer of a new sector of modern healthcare. We are led by Mel and his close team of tutors who are all dedicated hands-on therapists that have constantly strived to better meet the needs of their clients. Developing from their Sports Massage roots they acquired higher skills in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of people suffering with pain and injury. This has also given them a much wider scope of practice and made it a much more stimulating and rewarding life-time career. Over the years we have integrated these new clinically proven skills into our training and our BTEC qualification is now Level 5, called Soft Tissue Therapy and takes about one-year. It still includes Sports Massage but is now much more focused treating musculoskeletal pain and injury with people from all walks of life. Our main training centre is in central London, at Regent’s University premises inside Regent’s Park, and we have another branch at Totton College near Southampton. Our administration office is in Willesden Green, NW London.
