Many plastic items are used for only a few minutes but last for hundreds of years, they break down releasing microplastics and toxins into the environment. Plastics contain chemicals which can disrupt hormones and cause cancer and these, along with the microplastics are being consumed by animals. Microplastics have been found to pass into fruit and vegetables from the soil, they are found in our water, our bodies and even to cross the placenta into growing babies. Ocean litter also entangles and chokes marine animals, it is our duty to prevent plastic from polluting our environment. Plastic is a resource which we need to use wisely. We need to move towards a circular economy, reduce single use plastics, reuse and recycle as much as possible and dispose of plastic carefully.

A person’s membership shall be recognised only after completing a mandatory membership form and upon receipt of confirmation from the Secretary-General (SG), through text message, email, or phone call. All members shall commit to a regular contribution as agreed by the General membership and subject to periodic review. The Executive Committee shall reserve the right to reject the application of an individual but only if such action was taken solely to the best interest of the association.

I started practicing woodcarving the year before the pandemic, driven by a natural inclinations for natural crafts, and also as a way to decompress and ease the stress of working as a musician/busker full time. It turned out to be an activity that quite literally kept me going through the difficulties of lockdown years and consequentially I’ve gained skills and developed confidence in the craft even if completely self-taught. As soon as the borders opened up, I went on a long journey across the US crafting for donations on the streets and working on private commissions, making up stories for my hand-carved characters and sharing them on social media while constantly absorbing inspiration and ideas. Ultimately, I started teaching my first classes and workshops, and found a new passion in teaching alongside the carving itself. Once back in Scotland I decided to put all that energy into building a community and developing more skills and possibilities to bring together ancient natural skills, tradition, creativity, innovation, mindfulness, well-being, storytelling, mental health and more, all in one room, with just a little block of wood and a sharp tool. She is a nationally registered paramedic and has been board certified in emergency nursing (adult and pediatric), trauma nursing, orthopedic nursing, medical-surgical nursing, gerontological nursing, critical care (adult and pediatric), neuroscience nursing, stroke nursing, flight nursing, and nursing professional development. Laura holds advanced practice certifications as an adult acute care clinical nurse specialist and as a critical care clinical nurse specialist. Dr. Criddle has been a clinical nurse specialist since 1990, practicing as an emergency, trauma, flight, or neuroscience CNS at 6 health care organizations across the country. Throughout her career, Laura has cared for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations and has published over 100 journal articles, books, and book chapters covering a wide range of topics. She has been an editorial board member for the Journal of Trauma Nursing, the Journal of Emergency Nursing, the Advanced Journal of Emergency Nursing. Dr. Criddle is a fellow of the Academy of Emergency Nursing and former chair of the Academy. Laura has held academic appointments at 4 universities and colleges and is the co-founder of TCAR Education Programs where she currently serves as a faculty member, clinical nurse specialist, and chief clinical officer. Rankings are important as they give an independent way of judging universities. However it is very important to understand that every ranking has its own criteria and some maybe aimed at UK students or undergraduate students so it is very important to understand what the rankings are for and who they are aimed at. Below is a variety of rankings and your UKEAS counselor will be able to guide you through the different rankings and which ones focus on the aspects which are most important to you. Remember rankings should just be one factor in selecting your chosen school and it also makes sense to pay just as much attention to course content, location, cost, type of university and student experience: Academically, school standards of teaching are very close at the top; a schools ranking one year does not necessarily mean that it will be in the top 100 by the time your son / daughter has competed their studies as the smallest differences in GCSE and A level or IB results can allow a school to move up or down several places. In addition, looking for a school that excels at art or music for example is a folly. All UK schools have to adhere to the national curriculum and the top schools will all have exceptionally capable teachers for all subjects as they can pay for the best. School curriculums are designed to give students a well rounded education and allow them to explore a host of interests that in turn will prepare them for specialist study at university in a specific subject. Finally, choosing a school on rankings is only one criterion and as much as possible it is best for students and parents to go and visit schools so that the student can determine the best fit school for them. Public (private) schools come in a wide range of guises from the small schools located in the countryside, to large schools in the middle of cities. Using rankings tables should not be the be all and end all of a decision that is going to have far reaching consequences for the student in question; it should be one part of a process to help determine the best school for a particular student.

A fine art woodcarver based in northern England and Wales. Carving nature inspired art spoons and jewellery by axe and knife with naturally fallen wood.”With a background in photography and graphic design but a lifelong love of woodlands and wilderness, I started teaching myself woodcarving in early 2015 as a way to spend more time in the small woodland that I manage in the mountains of North Wales. Using only the tools that I already had for looking after the woodland, my axe and a knife, I began carving wooden spoons from wind fallen trees and branches that I would find and forage for on the woodland floor. After twelve months I abandoned my life as a designer and photographer to pursue my wood carving full time.
