Hello and Welcome to my site, I’d like to tell you about myself and my history within the Driver Training Industry as I believe this is vital to know when choosing an Instructor. My name is Gary Phillips and I have been an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) since 1991 when I was working with BSM from their Wigan branch, having established myself as their number one Learner Driver Instructor I Quickly progressed to become a Fleet Trainer and Instructor Trainer, my reputation as an effective Instructor Trainer was soon established and I was covering a large area including Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Leeds. In 1998 I won BSM’s National Competition “Instructor of the Year.” Soon afterwards I was “Head Hunted” by another National Instructor Training company to become their National Training Officer for the North of England covering an area between Birmingham and Newcastle where I was in charge of Training the regional Trainers and Quality Control of Instructor Training sessions, I also devised and wrote a new training system which became very successful. Unfortunately this company went into Liquidation and so I decided to use the vast knowledge and experience I had gained to offer my services to Learner Drivers who were serious about wanting to learn to drive to a high standard in a short time by taking an Intensive Course and Trainee Instructors who had the motivation to qualify as an ADI, the ambition to gain a better Grade in their Check Test or advance their career and become an Instructor Trainer. My Reputation as one of the Top Trainer’s in the Industry is well known throughout the North West & beyond. My Mission is to help you achieve your Goal and by using tried and tested Training Techniques along with my own carefully developed Training Methods and individually focused Tuition to suit your personal requirements, I am confident that if you follow my advice you will achieve your Goal as soon as possible. Please feel free to contact me for more information or advice if you can’t find the answer on the website.

Jane Woods Coaching

jane woods coaching

Empowering individuals and teams to thrive, navigate the ups and downs in life and reach their potential both personally and professionally is a real privilege and a passion. Resilience, confidence, collaboration, trust and emotional wellbeing (meaning purpose, strengths and values) are the areas in which I’m most interested. My enthusiasm for coaching evolved through my 35 years of sales and management, mostly within pharmaceutical sales with Pfizer Oncology and an early career in recruitment. From sales performance coaching in 2018 I progressed to personal development coaching and at the start of the COVID 19 pandemic I started coaching via the NHS leadership academy and private sector. It was at this time that I also trained to be a cancer coach with Cancer Support UK. Whether facilitating team and leadership development days or 1:1 coaching I bring energy, fun and creativity to virtual and face to face interactions. As an ILM5 coach and facilitator my approach is empathetic, encouraging, inspiring and strengths and solution focused, drawing on a variety of coaching models and leadership practices including Appreciative Inquiry and Brene Brown’s Dare to Lead. I am an accredited Conversations Worth Having practitioner, an ILM wellbeing coach, a cognitive behavioural therapy practitioner, a mental health first aider and Mental Health Swims host. I also provide cancer coaching and support for Cancer Support UK, Youth Cancer Trust and ALK Positive and EGFR positive UK. Inspired by my love of the outdoors, and a Nature as Co-Facilitator programme, I like to weave the natural world into our conversations where possible. My top Gallop Strengths are Ideation, Strategic, Focus, Achiever & Competition. Simply put, I love bringing people together to define the challenge, establish the best of what has been before and explore what is possible in the future. “Everything we need is within” is my coaching philosophy. What can we learn from nature about resourcing ourselves and adapting to life’s ups and downs? Identifying my clients’ purpose, meaning, signature strengths and values is part of this process. Adapting to change can be uncomfortable and, like trees, this can be when we grow the most. When we create the right conditions, we can blossom.

Inspiring Skills

Llanelli

Inspiring Skills Excellence in Wales prides itself for supporting young people across Wales to achieve excellence. We do this by supporting vocational learning through Skills Competitions and the Have a Go initiative, to help encourage young people to excel in the world of work. The project, secured by the Skills Ambassador Network (SAN) in 2014, is a Welsh Government funded initiative led by Coleg Sir Gar. The SAN, was established in 2011, and consists of a dedicated network of colleges, work-based learning providers and employer-led organisations. Its primary focus, in 2014, was to develop vocational excellence, and encourage and enable greater participation in Skills Competitions by widening the knowledge and expertise across the education and training sector. We recognise that Skills competitions specifically enable young people to achieve their full potential whilst raising their skills levels to meet employer needs. They can drive productivity and prosperity in our economy and create more resilient communities. Investment in skills is an investment in the future of our country, our businesses and our people. The success of the ISEiW project saw the initiative expand in 2016 to delivering what it is today. The project spans across three platforms; Have a Go, Skills Competition Wales and WorldSkills UK Wales, and inspires and elevates young people to achieve excellence. The project provides young people in Wales with improved employability skills and life changing opportunities, with employers benefiting from an additional competitive edge – through the employment of highly skilled individuals bringing proficiency, added value to their businesses and contributing to the prosperity for Wales as a whole. The project establishes a culture across colleges and training providers that delivers more than simply qualifications – it develops world class skills, with experiences that build the confidence and life skills of individuals. A joined up approach to sharing of good practices and expertise is a priority, contributing to raising the standards of teaching and learning across Wales and embedding Skills Competitions as a method of assessing the quality of provision. Through capitalising on the creation of a Team Wales ethos we drive to raise standards and support the creation of a larger pool of highly talented individuals.

During the years at the Conservatory he has developed his own vast and technically complex musical repertory. Starting from "The Well-Tempered Clavier" by Bach up to Gershwin's Jazz; rising from the pillars which are Beethoven's music and Liszt music. This repertoire requires considerable technical skills and an extraordinary passion for music. He was invited to perform in piano and chamber music concerts, music lectures, music master-classes, music workshops in ITALY, UK, AUSTRIA, meeting great public acclaim. He regularly performs piano and chamber music recitals around Cambridge; most of them in colleges like Homerton, Trinity, Robinson, Clare, Girton, Newnhouse College. No more than 6 students at the time. A perfect opportunity for students to perform in front of an audience. A good training in preparation of exams or music competition. Nottingham Writers' Club

nottingham writers' club

The club was founded in 1927 from an existing group of Nottingham writers eager to expand their membership. Among the founding members were a number of published writers, one of them Arthur E Ashley who wrote under the pen name Francis Vivian – produced two sets of books for his Brother Ignatius, and Inspector Knollis series, over many years. In the 1930’s NWC began to publish a regular club magazine Scribe, and the journal continues to carry the name today. As it did at the start, Nottingham Writers’ Club still prints successes, winning club competition entries, and items of interest to writers. Only during an enforced break during the Second World War, when a number of members were in the armed forces and the scarcity of paper suspended the production of Scribe, was the life of the club interrupted. Among its most well-known former members are Helen Cresswell, and Alan Sillitoe, who became a Freeman of Nottingham in 2008. The role of club President has been filled by writers too, including Eric Malpass who was succeeded by Peter Walker (the author Nicholas Rhea, whose Constable books became the TV series ‘Heartbeat’) in 1994, who in turn handed over the role in 2007 to the Mansfield based writer Roy Bainton. Speakers have always been an essential part of the annual programme, and have had among them, Leslie Charteris (the author of the Saint books, which became a successful television series in the 1960’s). During the last ten years the club has hosted talks by local authors Stephen Booth and John Harvey – both crime writers; the multi-talented Simon Brett, and novelist and short-story writer Jean Saunders. During the club’s 75th Anniversary (in 2002) our main speaker for that year, Edwina Currie, gave her talk amid the press and television coverage surrounding the disclosure of her close relationship with ex-Prime Minister John Major, in her latest book. The club has met in many buildings across Nottingham; among them the Black Boy Hotel that bordered the Market Square, The Elite Café on Parliament Street and The Bell Inn on Angel Row. The Black Boy Hotel and The Elite Café are no longer standing. In 1987 the club began its long association with The Nottingham Mechanics, moving into the card room at Birbeck House in Trinity Square until relocating to the new home of Nottingham Mechanics on North Sherwood Street in 2003, where we continue to meet.

Scalpel - University of Manchester Surgical Society

scalpel - university of manchester surgical society

Manchester

Scalpel is the University of Manchester’s Surgical Society and a partner of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. As a society, we aim to create and foster an interest in surgery for medical students through regular lectures, workshops, and our highly-regarded annual conference. Scalpel was originally formed in 2001, but it was not until 2006 that a core group of Manchester medical students re-formed the society under guidance from the Royal College of Surgeons, creating Scalpel as we know it today. Since this re-invention, Scalpel has gone from strength to strength to become the great society it is today with over 600 members. As an undergraduate surgical society, Scalpel has three key aims: To organise events that showcase surgery and all of its specialties, To excite and enthuse students about surgery, To provide students who are interested in surgery with relevant careers information and advice. We hope to achieve these aims by organising talks and workshops delivered by charismatic surgeons from each and every surgical specialty. We want to get students excited about surgery early in their medical training on so that they can start to truly consider whether surgery is for them. With competition for surgical jobs becoming more and more fierce, students are being forced to consider their career options earlier than ever before. Students hoping for a career in surgery, therefore, must start to think about how to make themselves more competitive. Scalpel hopes to help these students by organising surgical careers events and by providing students with surgical role models. Scalpel also seeks to encourage students from minorities into surgery, whether those minorities are ethnic, gender, or otherwise, by inviting role models from all walks of life as speakers at our events. Women in Surgery (WinS) events are a frequent feature of Scalpel’s events calendar, and a diverse range of speakers ensures the calendar remains of a high calibre and continues to be interesting and relevant. In 2009 Scalpel held their first ever national conference providing delegates with the opportunity to present their case reports and original research to an audience of esteemed clinicians and students. The conference proved to be a resounding success and it has now become a major annual event attended by medical students from all across the UK and beyond. We are delighted by your interest in our work and look forward to meeting you! Disclaimer: The Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS) does not accept responsibility for the action of this surgical society.
