Motion X bridges the gap between the human experience and contemporary dance. We create inclusive work that promotes thought, while celebrating the artistic and technical skill of our dancers. VISION It is our vision that Motion X Dance DC creates a profound connection between the performing arts and the human experience. As a dance company we connect with our audience on a deeper level, offering an emotional experience that encourages community growth and acceptance. Motion X Dance highly values dance education. Our passion for training young artists is prevalent in our workshops and intensives as we have developed programs that offer a springboard for dancers moving towards a professional career. Motion X Dance is a unique dance force in Washington DC, opening up new partnerships and connections in the surrounding community. Through outreach, collaboration, and education we hope to use dance as a way to bring joy to the widest audience possible. In doing so we will stay true to our mission, showcasing technical strength while generating innovation in the performing arts.

The Adab Trust

the adab trust

Rickmansworth

The Adab Trust was set up in 2007 to facilitate improved employment outcomes for students from challenging backgrounds. Since inception, the Trust has worked with six universities and supported over 7,000 undergraduates and recent graduates. Our inaugural programme was the 'Leadership by Example Programme'. This involved high calibre graduates from ethnic minority backgrounds - particularly from modern universities – being put through a six stage employer-led training and selection programme. The selection programme was delivered by one of UK's leading executive search agencies - Odgers & Berndtson – alongside the market leader in psychometric testing - SHL group. Successful candidates were then marketed to employers and in our first year of operation, 45 candidates secured graduate level roles. From delivering our inaugural programme, we discovered that the principal barrier to most graduates being able to secure their desired jobs; was that they often lacked the soft skills employers sought. To address this, we developed our current programme - the very successful 'Employers in Higher Education (EHE) Programme'. The Employers in Higher Education (EHE) Programme: This programme aims to create a strong connection between education and employers. This is done by bringing employers onto campuses to deliver a range of creative and innovative training sessions to young people. There are five strands of the EHE programme: Masterclass Series Problem based Learning Guest Speaker Series Employability Workshops Mentoring Please see here for more information about the various strands. Also, please see here for more case studies highlighting feedback from beneficiaries of Adab's initiatives.

Benjamin Tree

Hi, my name’s Benjamin. Thanks for taking the time to get to know me and my work. I have been actively engaged in the field of health and wellbeing for over 20 years. In my teens, I was attuned to Reiki, and since then I have worked with various therapeutic modalities including; Nutrition, Massage, Reflexology, Yoga, Chi Gong, Meditation, Shamanic Healing, Theta Healing, Sekhem, Breathwork, Embodiment, and Coaching. I combine my experience and understanding of all these modalities in my present work. My initiation into the depths of life began as a teenager being alongside my mum whilst she journeyed with a chronic illness that eventually took her life. This was a powerful time and it was my wake-up call to the realities of life and death. Since then supporting awakening, healing, and transformation for myself and others has become my life’s mission. I have been very fortunate to travel the world and train in a diverse range of modalities with inspiring teachers. My offerings are a synthesis of all I‘ve learned and the practices that have empowered me. I know everyone has their own unique set of challenges and gifts and my passion is to support people to find the ways that best support them by connecting with their own deep inner knowing and combining the best of ancient and modern wisdom. I received my Reiki Level one initiation when I was 19 years old, which opened up my energy pathways and enhanced my awareness of healing energies as well as my practice of Yoga & Chi Gong that I’d been doing for many years. In my early 20’s I traveled to India, Canada, USA, and Mexico where I studied Ayurvedic Massage and Shamanic healing techniques. I also met and was inspired by many wise beings including his holiness the Dali Lama at his temple in Dharamsala. In 2005, when I was 25, I qualified as a Rebirthing Breathworker after training with Leonard Orr, the founder, in the USA. I then continued my studies and travels in Europe, Russia, and Turkey until eventually settling back in the UK in 2012. In 2013 trained with Ya’Acov and Susannah Darling Khan, the founders of The School of Movement Medicine. I qualified as a Movement Medicine Teacher and Facilitator in 2019. During this time I also trained as a Steiner teacher and outdoor educator as I have a deep calling to serve young people and their connection with nature. In 2020 I joined together my work with Rebirthing Breathwork and Movement Medicine to create the modality that I now work with called Embodied Breathwork. At the heart of my work, is a trust in the power of these intentional healing practices of breathwork and movement, to re-connect us to our true nature; to bring alive the light of our beings, and wake us up to live our full potential and bring our gifts to the world.

Dr. Amanda Bowen Yoga & Retreats

Hi there, I am a yoga teacher with a PhD in Metaphysical Science, a certified holistic life coach and spiritual counsellor, an organiser of wellness retreats, a teacher on the global meditation app, Insight Timer and creator of Lovable Yoga Clothing As well as my organic clothing line, I’m proud to be an Independent Consultant for the amazing certified B corporation, Arbonne. Their Mind.Body.Skin products provide clean vegan, cruelty free skincare, beauty and nutrition that has made my life so much easier and my skin clearer! Conscious living is ingrained into me now and allows me to support companies that are not harming the planet and its inhabitants. There is no Planet B! Being diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome then post traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety fifteen years ago left me unable to function. I led myself down the holistic route to get my health and, ultimately, my life back, and along the way stepped into my role as a teacher and wellness guide centred around yin yoga. I discovered I have a skill in teaching and happiness in sharing my practice with others. This powerful yet very human journey has so far involved nearly six hundred hours of Yoga Alliance teacher training, including an advanced yin yoga teacher training course and yoga for trauma recovery. My intensive studies have included hatha, ashtanga, vinyasa, yin, yin yang and aerial yoga. Of these, yin yoga was the completing piece of the jigsaw for me. Yin is where my healing finds its natural flow. While I was being treated for depression many years ago, I developed a fascination with how the human brain works and the connection between the mind and body. What my consultant shared with me was incredible, and I needed to know more. This drive to understand more led me into gaining my PhD in Metaphysical Science. The fact that I had gone from being unable to function, to completing a PhD, was beyond any belief I had about myself. I never imagined I would be able to use my brain, and heal my body and mind, to the extent that I have. The intensity and depth of my yoga training and academic studying and the way in which they come together in my sessions has created my unique style of teaching yin yoga. Postures, nurture and calm are combined with the brain science behind the practice and meticulous preparation, bringing wisdom and learning from many different sources into each session. Dr. Amanda Bowen Yoga Instructor Dr. Amanda Bowen Yoga Teacher Counselling on stress management and how to mitigate against the devastating long-term effects it can have is woven into my teaching. I bring healing stillness into people’s lives in order for them to better manage their challenges and find – and enjoy – the balance that is so often missing. My inspirational and educational yoga classes, workshops and worldwide transformational retreats are for everyone.

Touchtennis

Leatherhead

Thank you for visiting touchtennis.com, and welcome to the tribe. touchtennis was founded by Rashid Ahmad in 2002 (or it may be 2003 depending on how many slams he wants to credit himself with) and his initial vision was simple – to create a sport that works for every age and every ability, possible to play anywhere, that will foster fun and connection above all, as well as of course getting people fit, energised and moving. Played on a 12 x 6 metre compact court with foam balls, a foldaway and easy to set up net and 21 inch tennis racquets, you can set up to play wherever you like from your school, park, garden or even the beach. Although the game is particularly attractive to beginners and less experienced tennis players looking to improve their hand-eye coordination, if you want to take it a step further from your garden, you might be interested in joining the growing touchtennis world tour. With Slams and Masters Tournaments, the tour has attracted players of all abilities who compete like lunatics for ranking points and prize money. But mainly just for the larks! Because, you see, the key to touchtennis is the amount of spin, deft stroke-play, chess-like tactics and unique, sometimes even silly, rules like using your body to make shots after (and only after) you’ve made a shot by throwing your racquet at a ball you couldn’t reach. It’s a game that is brains over brawn, touch over power, spin over strength, flair over fighting. And this is where the bigger vision comes in and why we would love you to join us – we believe as people soften their approach to sport they can soften their approach to life and that touchtennis can become about connection, community, purpose and a sense of belonging in something fun and healthy instead of to violent gangs or peer pressure activities or just to break the habit of your life stressors. We all have them. The bigger picture is to see touchtennis being a force for change and good around conflict and violence. A court straddling the borders of warring countries where individuals from those nations are seen battling their feelings through the skill and expertise of touchtennis and having fun doing it, perhaps even sharing a doubles partner with someone from the opposite country would be Rashid’s dream. (We are also striving to make our products sustainable and cheap for the whole world to be able to afford to play.) touchtennis shows that what divides is not as great as what unites us in this instance via a playful, intricate but easy sport. As Gandhi said “The golden way is to be friends with the world and to regard the whole human family as one.” We would love you to join the tribe. The touchtennis website is packed with further information including where you can give it a go and how you can set up your own court, but if you want to know more or to get involved don’t hesitate to get in touch by emailing here. We hope you enjoyed the pun!

I am a certified Blossom and Berry Baby Massage and Baby Yoga instructor and a qualified Hypnobirthing Instructor with The Calm Birth School I also hold as BSc in Social Science and have always been interested in people, other cultures, why they do things & how they benefit both families and society. I loved Hypnobirthing and the tools it taught me to prepare for a safe, empowering and positive birth. Despite our birth not going to what we had ‘planned’ or rather what my first preference was, utilising the tools and techniques my husband and I had learnt through Hypnobirthing we were able to have the best birth ever!! Like many I found the first few months of motherhood very overwhelming – my world flipped 180 in both an amazing and positive way – which obviously I am so grateful for, but also in a scary and at times, lonely way. In having my son I both lost myself and found myself all at the same time… My aim with Little Love Harts is to give the tool for safe, empowered and calm births and to teach parents that they are enough for their baby, yes read the books, yes seek advice from family, friends and when needed professionals – but always know that you are all your baby needs. At Little Love Harts I the importance of love and connection through nurturing touch, massage & yoga to help babies and children reach their full potential & make the world abetter place. My mission is to grow babies with love, touch, responsive care and positive interaction. Little Love Harts aim is to create nurturing experiences for all parents and babies to deepen their connection and confidence. I want to make sure that parents feel nurtured and in turn get the space and tool to nurture their babies in a loving and supportive environment. My classes are an inclusive, accepting, welcoming and safe space for all. I am committed to promoting the wellbeing of parents and babies through the provision of inclusive, educational and supportive classes and services. I will welcome you with a smile, listen to yours and baby’s needs, hold space for you when you need it and give you the tools to bond, soothe, relax and aid your baby’s development – be this at the Little Love Harts studio or via Zoom. I also provide several free services in the Colchester area, to help parents connect such as coffee and catch ups, buggy walks and online community to share and exchange ideas. I can’t wait to meet you, your birth partner and if they are already earth-side your baby! I will share the tools I have learnt through Hypnobirthing, Baby Massage and Baby Yoga to connect with your baby and teach them love, nurture and some amazing techniques to aid both their mental and physical development!

St Bede's Catholic College

st bede's catholic college

Bristol

A very warm welcome to St Bede’s Catholic College. We are committed to the principles of Catholic education and academic excellence, as envisioned by our namesake, St Bede.   It is the responsibility of our college to prepare children to be good citizens and the servant leaders of the future. Through our culture that focuses on gospel values such as service, compassion and forgiveness, Catholic and non-Catholic students alike leave St Bede’s ready to be beacons of light to future generations.  Each member of the school community is recognised as being created in God’s own image and so equally valuable. Non-Catholics feel equally welcome and their spiritual journey as important. The learning of knowledge built through human history is an intellectual human right. Knowledge provides liberty, freedom and power. Therefore, the curriculum at St Bede’s is designed to give access to a wide range of subjects, with expert teachers guiding students through the traditions. Through this curriculum, students have the chance to develop character traits such as fortitude and perseverance, as well as skills including reasoning and critical thinking. As students have different areas of aptitude and interest, St Bede’s caters for all, as we know that often it is only through exposure to these opportunities that they find their God-given gifts. Expectations for effort and application are very high to ensure all students reach their potential, regardless of ability. Such high demands are supported academically, socially and spiritually. Students feel valued at St Bede’s because of its personalised approach, celebration of difference and its desire to develop confidence and independence. St Bede’s nurtures young people’s self-esteem and sense of worth through the provision of a range of opportunities both within and outside the classroom. As Saint John Henry Newman said, any education worthy of the name must involve ‘heart speaking to heart’; a personal connection. We know that the selection of a secondary school or sixth form is a very important decision for families and hope that our website gives a sense of our college. If you wish to explore in greater detail what a St Bede’s education means in practice, please do not hesitate to come and see.
