When researching suitable first aid training classes she found that parents were restricted to longer certified classes aimed at the corporate market who often showed frightening videos and told distressing stories. Jenni felt she wanted to educate parents in a way that made them feel happy, confident and empowered rather than terrified and intimidated. Jenni has grown her business from table top to a being multi-award winning franchise with trainers running their own successful Daisy businesses UK wide. She is considered a paediatric first aid expert. She has featured in numerous publications, has a huge celebrity parents portfolio and volunteers her time at many national charity events. Jenni says “We train thousands of parents every year and when you get that call to say a parent saved their child’s life thanks to our class, that is the most unbelievably emotional feeling. None of this means that they shouldn’t be enjoying their learning; being challenged can be enjoyable. Excel Women’s Centre was formed in 2013 with origins starting all the way back to 1995. Excel Women’s Centre CIC is an organisation based in Barking & Dagenham and surrounding boroughs which supports women, families, young people, carers and individuals with all issues affecting their quality of life and wellbeing. We work mainly in Barking & Dagenham, and now across a lot of East London, offering a range of dedicated services aimed to support our service users, engage and enable the community. Thus, we strive to empower individuals of all ages and ethnicities to become valued members of society. About Us Excel Women’s Centre, CIC, is community hub that has an open door policy and provides services to all women, children and families residing in the London borough of Barking & Dagenham and surrounding boroughs. The centre offer help to vulnerable women and their families to fight discrimination demand their right and increase their self-esteem and confidence within our multicultural society. Empowerment is the key focus of the organization throughout. With empowerment, more services will be provided and service users will gain the skills and encouragement they need to change their lives. By developing as an organization, service users will be able to see a range of activities materialise in the area of mentoring programs, youth projects, IT clubs, Job clubs, Parenting classes for new mothers, healthy eating sessions and many more specifically suggested by the service users. Excel Women’s centre would like all our services users of the organisation to be able to integrate into Barking and Dagenham borough as well as all around London and have the same accessibility to services that everyone else has in London. By working in partnership with service providers, voluntary and community groups, Excel Women’s Group will lead the way, by illustrating that marginalized communities can integrate into society and become part of the community at large. The group will strive to break down barriers in the area of language by holding English Language Classes and breakdown social exclusion by involving community members in various training schemes and volunteering projects which can help their future ambitions. We provide a broad and balanced curriculum that offers all students the opportunity to succeed. A dedicated team of well qualified and skilled teachers and support staff provide outstanding learning and teaching for students and our work as a Teaching School helps to maintain and develop further the quality of the classroom experience. Our students are enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious to succeed and maintain very high standards of behaviour and engagement in their studies. They are encouraged to be reflective and creative in their thinking and to become increasingly independent learners as they progress through the school. Achieving Success Every student will need guidance and encouragement and at Seven Kings we aim to meet individual needs by providing the right level of challenge and support to ensure students reach their full potential. We support students with this by focusing on providing quality teaching, responding to their needs to ensure the right level of stretch and challenge. There are a range of intervention and support programmes for those students who need extra help, such as those with learning difficulties. We are very proud of the inclusive nature of our school and aim to personalise learning and teaching so that every student is able to succeed. There is a structured home learning timetable and all students are given a planner to help them organise their time and workload. Parents/carers are asked to check this on a weekly basis. There are home learning support clubs at lunchtimes and after school to help students if they need it. The school also has Learning Mentors to support students and mentoring schemes with both staff and student mentors available to support students. Beyond the Classroom There are many opportunities for students to take part in extra curricular activities at Seven Kings. A large number of clubs and activities take place outside lesson times. Staff are committed to providing different opportunities to enrich the lives of Seven Kings' students. Subject based clubs, such as those in Art, Drama, Music, Science, Sport and Technology enhance the curriculum and many trips and visits support classroom learning. We offer a number of residential trips, to places like Paris, Spain, China, outdoor pursuits and a skiing trip to Austria. Students are encouraged to enter competitions and to contribute to the community in different ways. Our peer committees and student leadership programmes help develop leadership skills and provide opportunities for students' views to be heard. There are termly Music concerts and many Drama productions each year which help students develop their performance skills and their self-confidence. The P.E. department run many school teams and have enjoyed considerable success in local competitions.
