We can’t fix it all, but we can give you a fun creative space, with free tea and coffee and gentle music for you to do your best learning in. If it involves textiles it can be done with us, and the wonderful guest teachers we get in especially for you! 2024 WORKSHOP PROGRAMME UPCOMING WORKSHOPS & ACTIVITIES Each year we run a series of workshops that are open to members of the group. Most of these require booking in advance and have extra costs associated to cover things such as tutors and materials. Participation in workshops is optional. If you’re interested in taking part in any of these please speak to Jenny R at the next meeting. (Non members can book places through Facebook/Eventbrite. Workshops are added to Facebook/Eventbrite during the year as details and publicity are confirmed) JANUARY 2024 – OPEN DAY Demonstrations of weaving and spinning, giant knitting needles, items for sale and tea and cake.  Open to all. FEBRUARY 2024 – AGM No booking required. Usual AGM things – review of group finances, voting in officers, etc. Also, of course, crafting and nattering!  MARCH 2024 – CROCHET HEXAGON CARDIGAN We will be learning how to make a Hexagon cardigan in crochet.   Booking required. Non Member cost £15 APRIL 2024 – STEEKING WITH FIONA MORRIS  We will be learning how to “steek”.  We will make a “mug hug” which is knitted in the round and then cut (“steeked”) to make a space for the handle Booking required.  Non Member cost £30 MAY 2024 – BEADING ON CANVAS WITH ELIZA MCCELLAND We will make a sampler of different beading techniques  Booking required. Non member cost £30, plus materials kit £5 if required JUNE 2024 – SHOBORI DYEING WITH JENNIFER HUGHES This workshop includes a silk scarf, a silk hanky and 2 cotton squares to dye Booking required. Non member cost £35 JULY 2024 – FLAX PROCESSING WITH BRIGITTE KALTENBACHER Booking required.  Non Member cost £40 AUGUST 2024 – A VISIT TO THE ALPACA FARM No booking required to visit the farm SEPTEMBER 2024 – FINDON SHEEP FAIR No booking required. No additional cost. Findon sheep fair is the same week as our September meeting, so we’ll be heading there, rather than meeting in the hall  OCTOBER 2024 – TALKS ON ROMAN TEXTILES WEAVING AND THE HISTORY OF KNITTING WITH CAREY FEINER Booking Required. Non Member cost £10 per talk NOVEMBER 2024 – TBC DECEMBER 2024 – CHRISTMAS PARTY! No booking required, any group member welcome. It’s Christmas! This online or in-person, private one to one live lesson is for machine knitters from absolute beginners to advanced knitting professionals.  My background After graduating with a Royal Society of Arts' Young Designer into Industry Award, I now have over 35 years of knowledge of working, designing & teaching knitwear design, machine knitting & lecturing in fashion knitwear & knitted textiles. I lecture part-time at the world-renowned Nottingham Trent University on their Fashion Knitwear & Textile Design  BA Hons course, as well as DeMontfort University in Leicester, UK. Since the 1920s, Morley Exhibitions has been supporting the creative development of Morley’s students and providing cultural engagement across all centres and subjects. Based across nine display spaces at the Waterloo, Chelsea and North Kensington Centres, Morley Exhibitions maintains a regular programme to showcase the talents of the student and staff community. Morley College London is home to artists working across all art forms and at all stages of their careers: students, emerging and established. Our exhibitions programme presents new ideas and different perspectives in ways that are inclusive, innovative and inspiring. Most prominent of our exhibition spaces is Morley Gallery, a two story state-of-the-art art gallery in a converted pub at the Waterloo Centre. Opened in 1969, it is currently in the last stages of a major refurbishment and will reopen in Spring 2021. We’re excited to announce a new programme of shows in the new year. Morley Exhibitions also maintains our important permanent collection of artworks on display around the college buildings. This including murals by Edward Bawden and large installation paintings by Martin Froy, John Piper and Bridget Riley. Also on show are portraits of Morley’s principals painted by Maggi Hambling, a highly valued member of our teaching staff since the 1970s. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, exhibitions and displays can be seen online at www.morleygallery.com. We look forward to welcoming you back to our physical spaces soon!

If any works need to be left to dry, they can remain securely here, and collected when convenient. It is a creative environment, relaxed and friendly. Most of our classes are led by artists, enthusiastic about their practise and experts in their field. Tea and coffee is included, and biscuits and cakes are often provided.
