I wish you a very warm welcome to our website. I am a practising teacher who has over 20 years experience in the secondary education sector, my specialist subject being science. Currently, I hold the position of Deputy Headteacher in an 11-16 secondary school with responsibility for curriculum development. Since being a senior leader, I have gained significant experience in leading whole school professional development and the quality assurance of the quality of education. I have been awarded a distinction in a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and in doing so have carried out research relating to curriculum and social justice. I strongly believe in: Creating an engaging, challenging curriculum which allows all children to flourish and achieve their potential. Providing high quality professional development which allows staff to improve performance in the classroom. An education system that empowers learners and promotes social justice. Have a look at the full project over at Toms website. Click here. BEEKEEPING AT FURZEDOWN FARM... Caring for the bees, is at the heart of everything we do. We consider looking after the bees to be a responsibility and we do so in a way that is harmonious with the natural behaviour of the bees. We only take honey that is excess to the bees needs, and make sure they have more than enough honey stored in the hive to see them through the longest of winters. Each hive is treated with special attention and care. BEEKEEPING HAS BEEN A PART OF THE NOBLE FAMILY FOR THREE GENERATIONS... Fred Noble [pictured] was a keen hobby beekeeper for many years. He kept ten beehives in an apiary just a stones throw from Furzedown Farm. He taught son; Deryk the craft, who later on inherited the hives which he relocated over the road into Furzedown Farm Conservation Area. Deryk was a beekeeper for many years and sold the honey that the bees made in the Farm shop. Unfortunately Deryk became allergic to bee stings in the 1980's and consequently was advised by his doctor to give up beekeeping, however he left three hives in a secluded apiary in the woods and left the bees too it.

Youth Resilience UK is a community interest company that aims to use a restorative approach to help young people build resilience by understanding their relationships, their choices and how they fit in to the world they live in. We understand that schools especially, are facing increasing pressure on their budgets and that the two main barriers to restorative approaches are time and money. With this in mind we hope to work alongside national and local funding bodies to create unique pathways for schools to access funding support to help underpin the restorative approaches we offer. We believe that once young people begin to; understand the impact of their actions, take responsibility for their choices and develop the tools to be able to repair harm and conflict, they build emotional and behavioural resilience and make positive choices going forward on their path. At Youth Resilience UK CIC we recognise the need to support those working with young people as they face the pressures of modern families, social media, diverse cultures, lack of services and funding. All these issues have the potential to continue to shift the way we support the development of this and future generations. Young people have more choices, a greater voice, access to an instant world at their fingertips, but many of our most challenging young people have fewer skills at their disposal to help them navigate this new territory.
