Papu Jordan is a fully qualified Reiki Practitioner & Teacher and Massage Therapist with a particular interest in women’s health issues. She is also a Sound Healer, Meditation Teacher and workshop facilitator. Papu was brought up in an immigrant family in which western medicine was used alongside more traditional methods and natural treatments, and so whilst developing a career in teaching, she continued gaining knowledge and experience of Complementary Therapies and using them in her own life. Papu now lives in Harpenden with her husband & Springer spaniel and has been using complementary therapies with her family for many years. She chants every day, is studying the ancient language of Sanskrit and has attended the Teacher Training programme at Sanskrit@St James’, London, which is further informing her work with Mantra & Meditation. Papu Jordan Holistic Therapies for Women was established in 2006 with a view to helping and supporting busy women with the stresses of modern life through Complementary Therapies. Since then, the practice has grown with many clients coming for short term sessions to deal with acute issues or as a treat. Others require longer courses of treatments to help with more chronic conditions or as maintenance/preventative therapeutic sessions. Many have gone on to do Reiki training with Papu and become part of her local Reiki network of students and practitioners through Reiki shares, workshops and other events. Papu has experience treating all ages – from babies & children right through to the elderly; and in supporting people with a wide variety of conditions, including life limiting ones, both as a Grove House volunteer therapist and in private practice. She has undertaken Cancer Care courses at Mount Vernon Hospital and attended courses and workshops led by Estelle Edwards, William Lee Rand, Frank Arjava Petter, Pamela Miles, Kathleen Prasad, Phillip Permutt, Jo Rose, Laura Joy Mason, Gabriella Burnel (Gaiea Sanskrit), Sue Pready (College of Sound Healing) and Bodhi Aspirations, Sanskrit@St James’ amongst others, as well as running collaborative workshops with other local therapists and teachers. Landmarks Specialist College

landmarks specialist college

London

Landmarks started to offer day services and post-16 education in March 1995, where the curriculum was largely practical and land-based, working in farm buildings in Creswell, Derbyshire. Since that time Landmarks has grown and developed its educational offer so that by the time of writing this welcome, Landmarks supports over 150 post-16 and day service Learners, all of whom learn a variety of essential life skills from our five sites located across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. We have changed our curriculum from purely land and animal-based to include several vocational subjects such as; hospitality, catering, cookery, retail, administration and labouring. These additional subjects support our learners to make informed choices about the type of vocations they would like to follow. College life at Landmarks involves being taught in practical, real-life situations, whilst being supported by highly trained and experienced staff who are experts in working with learners with additional needs. It is important for me, as it is for my team, that whilst learners are with us, they focus on developing knowledge, skills and behaviour that makes a real difference to their lives. I hope from reading the case studies and outcomes featured within this website, you can see what difference that focus has made to our learners’ lives. I am extremely proud of all our learners’ achievements, either becoming more independent so that they can attend activities they enjoy or securing employment for the first time in their lives. Indeed, we are so keen to support our learners that when you leave Landmarks, should you need support to maintain employment or seek advice you can contact our dedicated ‘After College, Aftercare’ team. I do trust that you will enjoy exploring our website and getting to know us a little better. Of course, it is only by visiting Landmarks that you will truly get a feel for the place. Whilst we run regular open events, please feel free to contact our learner recruitment team, who can organise a visit just for you, so you get a perfect opportunity to ask all the questions you have about learning at Landmarks. Also, we are always keen to hear from like-minded colleagues from other institutions, or from those interested in working with us in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you wish to know more.

National Recreational Gymnastics

Horley

We are the experts in recreational gymnastics teaching and welcome any Club, School or individual to share in our learning resources and training programmes. NRG Training Courses and supporting resources have been developed to address the growing demand for coaching professionals in the sport. This demand is not for high performance coaching, but for a new style of coaching specifically aimed at meeting the needs of recreational gymnasts, which has been growing exponentially in recent years. The demand for gymnastics has increased in Britain by 42% since the 2012 Olympics. This is great news for the sport, but at the same time has highlighted a very real challenge, namely where and how to accommodate all these eager participants. Gymnastics Clubs are overflowing with huge waiting lists, and there are a finite number of purpose-built centres. The NRG Coaching programme has been carefully developed over a number of years to equip sports providers with the knowledge and tools to effectively coach and lead recreational, mixed ability, mixed age gymnastics classes in any number of environments, not just those specifically built for gymnastics. This pathway fully and safely explores the techniques and skills of gymnastics, still allowing able gymnasts to develop to their full potential, but approaches it from a recreational standpoint where fun, and personal challenge are the key objectives. There is no need for specific gymnastic apparatus, simply an open space, and some very basic, generic apparatus, found in most leisure facilities and educational centres. Our courses provide a professional pathway for individuals, and sports providers who are interested in training to deliver recreational gymnastics, and schools, wanting to enhance their delivery of gymnastics in PE. Our programme allows successful candidates to start delivering gymnastics independently on completing Award 1. Click on our Courses page for full details including cost and content. Our coaching awards are particularly suited to those: Working with mixed ability and mixed age groups. Working in non purpose-built environments where equipment is limited. Have an interest in the sport, but may not necessarily come from a gymnastics background. Where there is a desire to build a strong and lasting pool of recreational gymnasts. All NRG qualified professionals have the opportunity to join the NRG Community ®, as well as receiving the ‘NRG Centre of Excellence for Recreational Gymnastics’ with our accreditation programme, and the many benefits which this brings.

South Nottinghamshire Academy

Nottingham

Welcome to South Nottinghamshire Academy – a vibrant and thriving school at the heart of the communities of Radcliffe on Trent, Cotgrave and Shelford. Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make on their behalf. We believe that all students have a right to attend a school that is ambitious for them and will strive to ensure they achieve the very best that they can. Our ethos is built around ‘Pushing our boundaries to achieve more’ which is underpinned with the highest expectations of what each student is capable of achieving. In 2022, SNA students once again secured some spectacular outcomes. Once again, our Progress 8 score was securely positive which means that every student achieved strong outcomes. At A Level, our results were equally impressive with students gaining their preferred choices in education, employment or training – including those who secured places at either the University of Cambridge or Oxford. We passionately believe that in order for students to reach their academic potential, they must experience the highest levels of individual care, guidance and support. Within a welcoming and supportive environment, we provide a stimulating and engaging education where all students can flourish and succeed. In September 2016, we moved into our brand-new school building and at the same time, we joined Redhill Academy Trust. In partnership, we have a passion to continually support and drive school improvement. In January 2023, to ensure we can continue to accommodate the increasing need for school places in our catchment, our new £2.65 million extension will be complete. Alongside other facility developments including a new 3G floodlit pitch which will be ready for September 2022, our school community has long lasting, modern day facilities that enhance students’ educational experience. And in February 2022, Ofsted Inspectors visited us and confirmed that the school remains at least 'Good' in all areas of inspection - and we have improved significantly since this point. We pride ourselves on our knowledge of every single student and ensuring that students are challenged in their learning but enjoy and feel safe as part of our school community. To see for yourself what the Academy can offer your child, please come to one of our Open Days or make an appointment to visit us at a convenient time. We have a school to be proud of and, for everyone involved with South Nottinghamshire Academy, a very exciting future lies ahead.

Home Cook School

Kirkoswald

I’m a foodie through and through! I like to eat! I like to cook! Variety is the spice of life, and we shouldn’t get stuck in a rut when we cook. Cooking is a creative process and should be one of life’s great pleasures. I am a big fan of the local Ayrshire seasonal produce, and recently demonstrated dishes at the Ballantrae Festival of Food and Drink 2020 and Newmilns Food Festival, 2017. I am lucky to live in a beautiful part of the world. Maybole is sandwiched between Culzean Castle and Country Park and Alloway where Robert Burns was born. The area is steeped in history and an abundance of local artisan produce. Farm shops sell Ayrshire meat, cheese, vegetables and all manner of other products. Of course, the coast is close by too with a fantastic array of seafood. With all of this on my doorstep, its not hard to be inspired. I believe it is important that we can all cook at least a few great dishes from scratch. Unfortunately, so many people don’t have the skills or confidence in the kitchen. Many people are short of time, and for some, cooking skills simply haven’t been passed down to them. There is an increasing awareness of the health benefits of eating nutritious home cooked meals. Furthermore, I think its very important that people eat together, in order to socialise and share time. BACKGROUND Prior to Home Cook School, I worked as a Lecturer within the Creative Industries Department at a local Further Education College. My role involved working with various student groups – both advanced and non-advanced, community groups and school classes. I love teaching people and seeing them develop knowledge, skills and confidence! Since I was very young, I have been a keen cook. I have travelled extensively, and learned from many different international cuisine styles. My husband and I love to eat out and plan our holidays around breakfast, lunch and dinner! I have attended many cook school classes including Tuscan and Croatian styles. Lindsay demonstrating at Ballantrae Festival of Food and Drink Lindsay Demonstrating at Ballantrae Festival of Food and Drink I love cooking lavish dinner parties, but more recently, my focus has been on cooking nutritious, economic, family meals. I am a strong advocate of reducing food waste by shopping thriftily, planning and using leftovers and often integrate these principles into my lessons. For years, many friends and family would ask me to share my recipes and cooking tips – this combined with my years of teaching experience, consequently gave me the idea to launch Home Cook School. For a long time, I was keen to become self-employed however, due to work and family commitments, I was never able to fully devote myself to the concept. In 2014 I gave up my Lecturing job (after 12 years) to focus on bringing up my young family. The following year I moved to Maybole, South Ayrshire and finally had a kitchen big enough to run classes from! In 2016, I decided to launch Home Cook School. I feel passionate about sharing my love and knowledge of home cooking with anyone who is keen to realise their ambition to become a better home cook! A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH TO COOKING LOCAL PRODUCE As an active member of the Ayrshire Food Network, we pride ourselves in using locally sourced, fresh produce. Not only that – we run cooking courses promoting both Scottish and Ayrshire produce, connecting our clients with local suppliers, supporting the local economy and teaching our clients where they can buy local! Click here to link with some of our suppliers. LOOKING AFTER OUR ENVIRONMENT In our lessons we promote ways to avoid wasting food. We are certified to deliver Zero Waste Scotland Love Food Hate Waste Cascade Training. We recycle our waste and when clients require disposable plates and cutlery for buffets, we use biodegradable products. We also car share where possible! GROW YOUR OWN We encourage our clients to try growing their own fruit, vegetables and herbs in our classes. We use home grown produce in many of our classes and catering. BIOSPHERE CERTIFICATION MARK We proud to hold the business Certification Mark for the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere, which is the stunning area of natural beauty that Home Cook School is situated within. Cooking tutor, and business owner Lindsay Guidi is also a Board Member of the Biosphere. South West Scotland is a place of abundant good quality food, drink and crafts which reflect the diversity and unique character of the countryside and region. One of the best-known crops in the Biosphere is Ayrshire ‘tatties’, known for their earthy, sweet flavour. With a reputation for producing high quality beef cattle, lamb and delicious dairy produce and of course some of the best seafood, the Biosphere offers a special, authentic food and drink experience.
