Cherished Blossoms, operated by Cynthia Jackson and a team of creative artists and teachers, is currently based in Kumasi, Ghana. A home educator of two active and creative souls who loves playing, drawing and having the opportunity to play computer games (what kid in our current times doesn't appreciate a bit of crazy Minecraft character creation). Our days involve studying and exploring (with the encouragement of self-directed play) and creating experiences, whether artistically or venturing out to exciting places. Sometimes, the word 'I'm bored' pops into the day, and no matter how many things you buy to appease them, it is never enough. Still, that time of 'boredom' is essential for a wind-down or an excellent opportunity to practice mindfulness and recharge and relax to stimulate the mind creatively. I understand much better now that they learn best through creative activities and imaginative play. As an entrepreneur, transformational business and life coach and writer, creating a space and environment for adding value through offering engaging, motivating and stimulating products and services that bridge the gap is a passion and dream. Cherished Blossoms aims to help instil, inspire, and allow children to learn in a fun, nurturing and engaging environment where they will be free and encouraged to think outside the box. Our dedicated team of artists and creatives are keen and willing to transfer their skills, knowledge, experience and love for what they offer their customers so that the kids can incorporate what they are learning from school into real-life experiences. The key to success in education and the workplace is to be surrounded by inspiring and competent people who can give you the tools you need to reach their level, as well as the resources to do so. Our aim is first of all to ensure that the children know and understand what they need from the curriculum to pass their SATS, GCSEs and A-levels in order to satisfy the requirements of the education system. Yet more importantly to we seek to braoden their minds – to get them to want to learn and love learning by putting them in an environment with highly educated, motivated and intelligent teachers who have been successful in education and the workplace. Teaching staff include a mixture of highly qualified teachers, graduate students and other professionals who are keen to encourage children from all, and especially disadvantaged, backgrounds in to their professions such as engineering, the sciences, law and writing. We take those who are not professional teachers intentionally because many children would not otherwise be exposed to such high level professionals in their day to day lives, and these motivated, successful people have a wealth of specialist knowledge not taught in schools. We hope the children will be inspired by these people. Examples of what we have done outside of the curriculum include training children for the Maths Challenge which can eventually lead on to the Maths Olympiad and introducing some very basic ideas from number theory. One of our teachers was a philosophy graduate and tried teaching basic propositional logic and reasoning skills. Just before the last term ended, we started a program of reading classic English literature in the oldest classes and initiated a debating club. We also have an ambitious program in development to organize work experience and internships at big city firms, engineering companies and civil service institutions to show children what they can achieve if they put their minds to it. Finally, we want members of the community involved. They might teach, or act as classroom assistants or offer work experience or supervise behaviour – anything that gets parents involved with their children's education.

We are a pioneering community-led learners' co-operative focused on improving the educational, physical and social well-being of children and families contextualised within family and community empowerment. We are commonly known as uLearn Naturally Learners' Co-operative. We are an umbrella organisation serving collectives with assistance in forming Abundance Centres Member Trusts. We also work to build various kinds of educational infrastructure to support our Member Trusts and the general public. These infrastructure works are mainly related to our Home-School-Knowledge Exchange project and our emerging uLearn Naturally Media Services. In general the objectives of the Trust are to carry out activities which benefit the communities of UK and members of the Trust in regard to community engagement, family directed learning and personal development in the realms of education, well-being and social networking. In particular, our mission is to establish and maintain centres of service with the principles and general intention of bringing about better community engagement, creativity, cross-curricular learning and/or unified ways of coming to know that which specifically enables and enriches the learning of the sciences and maths through the arts, intelligent play and the dissemination of wholistic (nature-centric) pedagogical (learning) practices. I have been a registered Driving Instructor since December 2006 and attained my ADI teaching badge in January 2007, awarded by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). I have over thirty years of driving experience passing my own driving test, aged 19, at the first attempt. I am very approachable and am assured by my past and present students that I put people at their ease. Testament to this is the fact that I managed to successfully teach my own two daughters with the minimum of friction! My original working background is in Quality Engineering, having served an apprenticeship and worked my way up through various disciplines demanded of the role. The soft skills I acquired as a quality engineer, i.e. attention to detail and methods of meticulous practise, are attributes I have applied to my teaching methods. I like to ensure my students learn the value of good practise and that they know how important it is to take responsibility when they enter any vehicle. My students take their tests at test centres in Worksop, Sheffield Handsworth and Rotherham and I therefore have extensive knowledge of many of the driving test routes. I am registered with the DVSA to help advance driving skills through the Pass Plus scheme which incorporates motorway driving. As this is one area not covered in the standard driving curriculum many students find motorway driving stressful once they find themselves alone in a car for the first time. The Pass Plus course gives them the opportunity to not only put their motorway theory into practise, but to experience what it is like to drive for long periods of time. My Pass Plus training usually involves a drive to the seaside inclusive of fish and chips! Some, though not all, insurance companies like drivers to have passed a Pass Plus course and this is reflected in their quotes. So what can you expect from me? I am DBS checked (i.e. approved to work with young and vulnerable people), and I carry comprehensive public liability insurance. Personally, my aim is to maintain standards by continuously improving my own performance and offer a friendly, individually tailored driving experience for my students.
