uk education union ltd.
The NEU was formed in 2017 following the amalgamation of the National Union of
Teachers (NUT) and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL). As the
largest education union, we have a powerful voice and have been effective in
winning improvements to our members’ working conditions and shaping an education
system that works for all. What we do Represent you in the workplace One of the
main roles of a trade union is collective bargaining. That means the union
negotiates with employers on behalf of members on issues like health and safety,
pay and working arrangements, and redundancies. To enter into collective
bargaining, a union has to be recognised by an employer. The NEU is recognised
in most schools and colleges where our members work. If there is an NEU rep in
your school, they will be able to represent you if you are facing any form of
disciplinary action or if you have a grievance against your employer. Represent
you to Government and policy makers As the largest education union in the UK,
the NEU has a powerful voice when speaking to Government and policy makers. As a
member of the NEU, you will have the opportunity to shape education policy and
make your voice heard by responding to surveys, attending meetings and
conferences, and sharing your views and experiences with the union.
