The National Energy Foundation

the national energy foundation

Milton Keynes,

The National Energy Foundation was established in 1988 by Milton Keynes Development Corporation to continue its work on energy efficient housing through its Energy World project. Energy World was a demonstration of 51 low-energy houses designed to be at least 30% more efficient than the Building Regulations then in force. The Foundation was set up to increase public awareness on the safe and efficient use of energy through demonstration and research. From 1993 to 2001 NEF worked closely with the Energy Saving Trust in setting up the UK’s network of Energy Efficiency Advice Centres (EEACs) and managed the network for the first five years. NEF went on to develop the National Home Energy Rating Scheme, which was run by a trading subsidiary (National Energy Services) from 1994 and in 1998 NEF established the Energy Efficiency Accreditation Scheme for businesses which was transferred to the Carbon Trust in 2005 and later became the Carbon Trust Standard which continues to run to this day. Renewable energy was relatively unknown at this time and NEF became a thought leader as awareness began to grow and was at the forefront of educating the public on the latest developments. Through outreach events and working with schools, the team was introducing local people to the benefit’s renewable energy. When USEA (United Sustainable Energy Agency) merged with NEF in 2013, NEF started doing a lot of work on advice on domestic energy efficiency and fuel poverty which grew into the projects still running today.

Christel House Europe

Please help us to break the cycle of poverty that entraps children and prevents them from becoming productive members of society. Children don’t choose to be born into poverty. Most grow up never realizing their human potential. Instead, they face physical and psychological trauma—hunger, malnutrition, disease, low self-esteem and lack of opportunity. Christel House is much more than a school. We give children a hand-up, not a handout, by providing a rigorous academic education supported by programmes to develop the whole child. We don’t just educate, or feed, or provide health care—we do all of these things from early childhood through early adulthood. And we continue to mentor our students for 5+ years after they graduate from Christel House. The results? Christel House works! Since 2001 in India and South Africa we have impacted the lives of over 2,300 children, their families and communities. In India, fewer than 10% of all children ever get to college. In South Africa, 52% of young people cannot find work. Approximately 86% of graduates from our schools in these countries are now working, in apprenticeships, or continuing their studies full or part-time at college or university. Their futures are secure, their ambitions realised. Laguna's Spitfire Legacy

Westbury-On-Severn

NEVER WAS SO MUCH 'STILL' OWED BY SO MANY, TO THE 'FORGOTTEN FEW' OF THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN. On June 4th 1940, following the evacuation of British and Allied forces from the beaches of Dunkirk and the decimation of the British Army, all that stood between German invasion of Britain was a 20 mile stretch of the English Channel and the pilots of the RAF’s Hurricane, Spitfire and bomber squadrons, later to be called ‘The Few’. And so began the Battle of Britain. Among the brave airmen who fought in the skies above Britain during the Battle and after, were a few Polish fighter pilots, volunteers, our first Allies who had been ordered to evacuate across German-occupied Europe to continue the fight for the defence of France and then Britain. Sadly at the end of the war they never formally received the recognition they, we feel deserved, and were not wholly allowed to participate in the VE Day celebrations. We call them ‘The Forgotten Few’ and want to change this to ensure there is a lasting remembrance, unity, legacy and education (RULE) for all generations. You can help us with this by simply sharing this website and telling your friends, family, teachers and frankly, anyone else. We are also developing education packs that we hope to supply to schools wishing to participate, ensuring children can continue to learn about the sacrifice made for their future. You could also help through volunteering, donating, or buying something from our store so we can continue to fund the project.

Alternative Curriculum Education

Peterborough

We currently work to support secondary schools, colleges, private care organisations and pupil referral units and offer both an academic and vocational programme of activities for young people not accessing mainstream education for whatever reason. We can offer students up to a three day programme or a combination of days (up to a maximum of 18 hours per week) to suit your requirements. We can also cater for small groups (4-6 students) and can offer a bespoke programme of activities on either a short term or long term basis. Students can be placed 'on and off' the programme as required and can start the programme as soon as we receive a completed referral and consent/medical form. We liaise closely with the referral agency and the parents/guardian regarding attendance, behaviour and achievement throughout the students placement at A.C.E. and provide daily attendance registers to each referral agency. Student trackers and reports are sent termly and are also available on request by other professionals involved with a young person placed with us. Alternative Curriculum Education was founded over 20 years ago in 2000 by the Directors Marie Carrick & Leslie Carrick. Since then they have built up a team of reputable Tutors and Support Workers and helped over 1000 students achieve the grades they require to secure places at college and thus advance their learning. The centre was awarded the Alternative Education Probation Certificate from Cambridgeshire County Council in January 2020 as well as various other awards over the years.
