We also ring elderly community members regularly to keep in touch and overcome loneliness through our befriending service. Our ‘Friends in Need’ service helps BAME people in Wales to connect with other people and fight social isolation. Our Communities Our Strength - Wellbeing for BAME People This is a project by KIRAN Cymru. This project started in March 2021. We aim to combat the adverse effects of COVID 19 pandemic by creating regular and structured opportunities for BAME community members to connect with each other through virtual meet-ups, games, and cultural activities. We offer various opportunities for all BAME people in Wales to connect with other people in virtual social meet-ups, e.g., book clubs, bridge clubs, learning musical instruments, e.g., Piano and Tabla. There is also a community musical group for you to join. As a part of this project, we have started an English Online Magazine called Story Cloud. All community members are encouraged to take part in creative writing. KIRAN Cymru offers free guidance and training on ‘Creative Writing’. It is a beautiful skill and can improve the confidence and self-esteem of the writer. Please get in touch with us if you want to take part in creative writing. Story Cloud will publish the selected short stories, poetry and feature written by community members. Apart from the above, we offer other befriending services for local communities. Word Fountain Christian Ministries (WFCM) is led by God through Pastor (Mrs) Dupe Adefala and a team of Christians as part of the universal Church. WFCM seeks to be an ark of safety for everyone and an oasis of love where men, women, youths and children are Redeemed Refreshed, Revived and Equipped to give God pleasure, build bridges in relationships and develop in the plan and purposes of God. We pay attention to the flock and commend everyone to God and the word of His grace that is able to build us up and give us an inheritance among all that are sanctified – Acts 20:28 and 32. We bring to focus the manifold inheritance (all things that pertain to life and godliness) that God has packaged for all before even the first man or woman was created! Our main thrust is as follow: Reverential worship of the living God through prayer, sound teaching of biblical principles and its application. Promoting and celebrating the richness of human diversity. Reaching out to the community with the word of faith. Fostering an environment for development of leaders and every member in the knowledge of God. We thank God Almighty for the privilege to serve Him in His glorious vineyard. SERVING THE COMMUNITY We work towards facilitating social inclusion and integration of the diverse community in Oxford. Word Fountain is a registered member of National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), Oxfordshire Council for Voluntary Organisations (OCVA) and Oxfordshire Community Champions. In addition to the spiritual input of the five-fold ministry, the need to develop and deploy internal competencies fit for successful living in the world is critical to our mission. We have organised and funded an Economic Empowerment Day with input from various organisations, Parenting Club was co-funded by the Oxfordshire County Council, Play Day 2009 funded by Oxford Play Association, Women and Sexual Health Seminar, Managing Money God’s Way with Stewardship, etc. In addition our Annual Youths/Children Day as well as Praise Night events have been vehicles for reaching and serving the wider community. We are currently working with the Horspath Residents’ Association to develop a Youth mentoring and engagement scheme for the community. We thank God Almighty for the privilege to serve Him in His glorious vineyard.

The Beacon School

Surrey,

I am delighted to welcome you to The Beacon School. Every child has the right to an exceptional education. I consider it a privilege to work alongside the staff at The Beacon School, each of whom share this view. We are a school that is proud to sit at the heart of the community of Banstead, and our aim is to serve that community through the provision of an exceptional education alongside a wide breadth of enriching experiences. We are an inclusive community - staff at The Beacon School are committed to ensuring that all students are supported to excel academically. However, our community strives for more than that. It is essential that each of our students recognise that academic success, whilst important in securing opportunities for the future, will not be enough to truly thrive. It is just as important that our students recognise and embrace the values that our school community hold to be important. For these values are what will ultimately define our students in the future. By becoming values driven individuals, our students will be best equipped to shape for the better the communities that they will build for themselves. Academic excellence underpinned by strong values will allow each student to fulfil their true potential. We trust that the ambitions that we hold for our students are shared by all within our community. I and my colleagues at The Beacon School will maintain the highest expectations of all our students in every respect. This is especially true when it comes to our values. We are fortunate to draw upon the support of our Multi Academy Trust, GLF Schools, whose own core values of Respect, Inclusivity, Integrity and Kindness align with our own philosophy. Our most important partners however are our parents and carers. We are determined to work in genuine partnership with families to ensure the success of all our students. I recognise that few decisions are more important than where to apply for the next step in your child’s education. For those families that place their trust in us, each colleague at The Beacon School will work relentlessly to honour the faith that you put in us. I am confident that by the time your child moves on to the next step in their educational journey, you will reflect that this choice was undoubtedly the right decision for your child.
