Uncover Liverpool is your complete ‘what’s on’ guide to arts and culture in the Liverpool city region, where you can find out what’s coming up from the latest exhibitions, gigs and theatre to workshops, family days out and festivals as well as arts jobs and artist opportunities. Uncover Liverpool is a project by Open Culture, an independent social enterprise. We want to encourage engagement with the arts by providing a comprehensive guide to the Liverpool city region’s cultural scene where everyone can find and share events, news and opportunities; mostly because getting involved with arts and culture has been proven to make people happier.

Diamond Dance was established by Sian Pargetor in 2010 and started with a few basic lessons on a Saturday, to include a baby class, Tap, Ballet and Modern examination work. It wasn’t long before the timetable grew and additional classes were added. It began with the addition of an Acrobatics class, quickly followed by Street dance, private lessons and Festival class and in more recent years the addition of Contemporary and Musical Theatre. The first ever Diamond Dance show was held at the Community Centre back in 2011 with a small showcase. In 2013 Dance Infinity was established and is now a bi-annual show put on by all the pupils at the school. With the schools growth in 2013 and 2015 the shows were performed at Blue Coat Theatre and new from 2017 Dance Infinity moved to the Albany Theatre. Diamond Dance is involved in many Community events and has been seen at the Coventry Blaze Ice Hockey, Godiva Festival, local fetes, Supermarket events, and Chaplin’s Princess Ball to name a few. Sian is keen to take part in these events as it gives the pupils extra performance opportunities. Please get in touch if you would like us to perform at your event. Pupils can expect to be given incredible workshop opportunities whilst attending Diamond Dance both at the Studios and outside events. A favourite is the bi-annual trip to Butlin’s Skegness where Diamond Dance take part in the British Theatre Dance Association Gala weekend. However, it’s not all about the dancing. Sian made friends for life when she was a dancer at the Sylvia Bird Dance School and hopes that the pupils of Diamond Dance will make these same lifelong friendships. Therefore, you will often see us on trips to the theatre or the parents on a night out. It all adds to the friendly atmosphere that is part of the school. For many years the school was based at its local Community Centre and hired the space per session. However, in August 2017 Diamond Dance moved to its new premises and their own Dance Studios. Diamond Studios consists of three studio spaces, a parents waiting area and even hosts a “chill out room” for its pupils. The space is available to hire and you should contact the studios if you are interested in this.

We offer professional training in all aspects of Drama, Musical Theatre, Dance and Music Production for all ages, from three years old through to adults. Classes are designed to cater for the individual needs of our students, encouraging confidence-building and developing skills and technique within a safe and friendly environment. Our experienced tutors are committed to giving each student a combination of expert training and an enjoyable experience. It is important to note that at ReAct Academy we believe it is vital for each student to receive individual attention. This ensures they benefit from the best experience possible whilst training with us. For this reason we have a maximum intake for our weekly classes. ReAct Academy also offer occasional workshops and masterclasses led by industry professionals. Our students regularly work towards in-house and public performances and full-scale musical productions and plays, to ensure that they experience all aspects of theatre. This also allows our students to gain a strong sense of achievement for their continued hard work and efforts.

I have danced since the age of 4 years old and I trained at the Centre Performing Arts College for 3 years gaining an ISTD Qualification in Dance. ISTD Dance Acting LAMDA Full DBS Fully Insured First Aider I have Performed in Theatres and in the West End, London Palladium in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat and acted in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie in the Strand Theatre starring Patricia Hodge. I have performed overseas including most of Europe in a cabaret dance Act. I have also promoted adverts on television and through a modelling agency hosted promotional events through Models Inc. In my teaching experience I have taught drama, ballet, jazz, gymnastics and musical theatre dance in primary and secondary schools. I also taught drama and dance for Maelisa Mcguinness Theatre School for 5 years in Sevenoaks Kent. My Dream was to set up a Performing Arts Dance School and to teach dance to children and it came true in 2015. Charlies Centre Stage is for children ages from 2 years to 18 years and also we offer adult classes.

Marie Gratton (Beazley) AISTD/ DDI/DDE is the founder and principal of Dance Sensation School of Performing Arts. Founded in 2005, the school has rapidly grown with over 200 students currently attending. Specialising in ISTD Ballet, Modern, Tap, Jazz and Musical Theatre taught by an ISTD qualified teacher. Marie trained at Redroofs Theatre School in Maidenhead and then went on to further her training at Doreen Bird College in London. Marie worked in many professional shows including Grease, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Piazza dancer at Alton Towers and danced in the show Spirit of the Dance where she toured Far East Asia and Europe. She then worked for 3 years on cruise ships with Thomson, P&O and Festival cruises. Marie has taught for many years at private schools and for other principals and in 2005, she decided to fulfil her dream and start her own dance school. Dance Sensation started with 5 children and now we have over 200 students whom attend Dance Sensation. Marie absolutely loves her job and is incredibly passionate about what she teaches. It’s also very important that dancing is taught by a fully qualified dance teacher who understands the body and teaches dance in a safe environment. Marie is a fully qualified Imperial Ballet, ISTD Modern and Tap teacher and is very proud of her qualifications. We are an exam based school where the children get to take exams in all 3 genres and we also perform yearly shows shannon allen dance teacher Shannon Allen Contemporary and ISTD Teacher Shannon Allen Shannon started dancing at the age of 8 at Dance Sensation and was trained by Miss Marie, focusing primarily on ISTD dance examinations and performing in multiple musical and dance shows throughout the years. She then went on to train professionally at London Studio Centre for their Theatre Dance degree course in which she graduated in 2018 with a focus in musical theatre. During her degree course, Shannon performed as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Martha in Spring Awakening and ensemble/dance roles in The Witches of Eastwick, Little Shop of Horrors and Cabaret. Since graduating, she performed at various venues within London as a dancer, and modelled for numerous styled shoots before pursuing a career in teaching. Alongside teaching dance and musical theatre, Shannon works in a Primary School during the week and is currently in the process of completing her ISTD DDE Modern Teaching exams. Shannon is super excited to be joining the Dance Sensation team and we are so glad to have her back.
