The Royal Pinner School Foundation

the royal pinner school foundation

Helping the children of travelling salespeopleI feel that it is a great honour to have been elected Chairman of our Foundation, and I trust that we shall continue to be effective in providing educational support for children of travelling sales people during times of adversity. Many years ago, when I was experiencing a tricky time with my career, I was fortunate to receive a series of grants primarily to assist my youngest daughter, Claire, with her education and specialist swimming training. Royal Pinner’s assistance, at a crucial stage of Claire’s education, was invaluable. Claire went on to graduate from Leeds University as well as to participate in the Paralympic Games held in Athens, Beijing, London and Rio – where she won a Gold Medal. Obviously, our Royal Pinner grants were withdrawn when Lottery funding became available, but we shall be forever grateful for the support we received at a critical stage of Claire’s development. Being in receipt of support is one side of the Trust and, since becoming a Trustee several years ago, I have also seen the other side – helping to alleviate the hardships encountered by our beneficiaries and new applicants – and I have felt very humbled. Most of our families face and endure far more difficult circumstances than I did, but, on the other hand, I have also seen how effective our grants and pastoral support can be. Our focus remains on the sons and daughters of commercial travellers where there is also a specific need or hardship, and we aim to continue to provide effective educational support during the years to come.

Liverpool Personal Trainer

liverpool personal trainer

The program was put together by myself, Paul Coshott – Liverpool Personal Trainer, as I felt the classes needed a structure, similar to my Kids Martial Arts classes, and it gave the students something to work towards, as they are graded every 3 – 4 months, and are presented with certificates and trophies, on completion of exam I hear a lot in the media about failing schools and children failing at school. Our aim at the studio, is to give children and their schools in Liverpool, a helping hand to get back on track. The Boxing fundamentals program works hand in hand with a child’s schoolwork, providing improved self discipline, self confidence, concentration, mental alertness, co operation, goal setting advice and anti bully skills All young students in my children’s programs are required to take a specially designed form to their teachers at school once a month. This has to be signed off by the teacher before the student can be considered to be put forward for their next exam or martial arts grade. The form also needs to be signed by parents to show that they are being well behaved and are showing respect at home To secure a Free week trial of the program/ classes, please click on the link below, or alternatively, send me a text message and I’ll get in touch We hold sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5 to 6 pm, and Saturday mornings from 9 until 10 am. All sessions are held at my ‘Strictly Boxing Fitness studio’, Mercer Street, Garston L19 2NR. Bring your kids along to join in with the fun.

Cornish Pottery Holidays

"Cornish Pottery Holidays on the Penwith peninsula in Cornwall should get you throwing with confidence. The course runs for five full days so there’s enough time to work at your own pace with plenty of input from the tutor, ceramic artist Caroline Winn. As the studio is available around the clock, you’d have time to practice and experiment. Expect a house-party atmosphere, comfortable rooms and good food." / From The Times, 28th November 2015 Highly recommended. Am a relative beginner but I got to use and experiment with all types of clay such as porcelain, paper porcelain etc which you don't normally get access to on other pottery courses. Caroline is incredibly encouraging and an excellent teacher. It was a perfect week for me because as well as it being a fantastic course, it was set against a backdrop of beautiful Cornwall with access to fabulous walks and there was the added bonus of staying in a beautiful house where you really couldn't have felt more welcome. The meals were delicious too! Hoping to return. / Lindsey Bowen, June 2018 A fantastic place and space. Caroline is wonderfully enthusiastic and gently draws out your creative side, even if you didn't think you had one! Beautiful surroundings, a warm comfortable home with fabulous food and excellent company. A fabulous experience. / Clunis O'Halloran, Dec 2019 Just returned from a fabulous pottery holiday. Beautiful location. Caroline and Martin welcome you into their lovely home and garden. Caroline is a great teacher and full of enthusiasm and ideas. And Martin's food is excellent. It's been a week of education (on many subjects over dinner!), a lot of laughter with new friends, camaraderie and creativity. Thoroughly recommended!! / Christine Howard, Nov 2019

Swanage

“I’ve always held the belief that we are all creative beings, and that given the right conditions, everyone is able to explore their strengths and reach their full potential.” Inspired at a young age to pursue creative disciplines, Tina began her career as a design and fine arts teacher and tutor. Working in further education colleges in impoverished and crime-riddled neighborhoods in the UK, she quickly encountered the challenges inherent in supporting students that had complex needs. These were young people struggling with violence and trauma, drug and alcohol addiction, low self-esteem and, in some cases, undiagnosed neurodiversity. They struggled to learn in the same way as other students did and were often marginalized by an academic system that measures success solely through targets and standardized tests. Tina quickly realized that no matter the resources or skills of staff available, when individuals are not emotionally and psychologically stable, they simply cannot excel. Driven by a deep compassion and a struggle she could understand, having grown up with violence and unrecognized neurodiversity in her own family, Tina sought ways to create an environment where young people could thrive and flourish, access their strengths and develop confidence. “I’ve always believed that every individual has their own unique strengths and in the right environment every person can get to know what those strengths are.” Training in counselling for drug addiction and Neuro-Linguistic Programming provided a foundation for a more holistic approach. She saw the success that her students experienced when they felt supported in a safe haven; a stress-free space of true presence and non-judgment where they could explore themselves freely through their creative process and develop confidence.

Rebecca Spittles Coaching

It was a question I asked myself a hundred times a day once I had made the decision to leave my marriage. Many things flashed before my mind - child, money, work, ME. I had great family and some good friends but I was still very lost and emotional, yet in possibly one of the worst times of my life I needed to make life-changing decisions about my future. It wasn’t easy. In fact at times it was almost unbearable, Police were involved, solicitors, mediators, the works. It was heart breaking, and complicated and I felt like I was poking around in the dark a lot of the time, but I came out the other side still in one piece, feeling positive and strenghthened by what I had been through with the help of a coach. It wasn't just during the divorce that I needed a coach...I mean what did the life of a single lady look like? I had a toddler, a house, and a business and again I was lost, whilst stronger and more resilient than ever before I wanted a new chapter to start, and working with my Coach my life changed. I am an NLP practitioner, Reiki Master and have a diploma in counselling. From 2006 I grew a coaching and healing business based in Bristol and then decided to niche into Divorce Coaching as there wasn’t anything like that available in my area. And here I am. I offer 1:1 coaching sessions and workshops, and for clients who want it I provide a service that runs alongside with their solicitor so that they are focussed and ready when they arrive and can make clear and well informed decisions.

Phantom's Legacy

phantom's legacy

London

He was an amazing horse who was a complete gentleman with a wicked sense of humour. He was extremely intelligent and very good at reading emotions and feelings; he was gentle and understanding however if you didn’t have a clue, he was capable of giving you a run for your money. He taught us the need for patience and that things in life cannot always be rushed. Over the years, through watching family and friends engaging with him we noticed how his behaviour changed to suit the approaches of the different people he came in contact with. If you were nervous then he was calm, if you were sad he could make you smile. However if you thought you knew more than you actually did, then he wasn’t long in letting you know how wrong you were. His loving and loyal nature made everyone feel at ease and showed us all the benefits of being around horses. Sadly, at the age of 28, after 24 years being part of Wilma’s family and Janis’s friend, he passed over the rainbow bridge. Phantom Our inspiration for Phantom's Legacy We had discussed for many years the possibility of opening a centre to provide therapy and education using horses. From our experience of being around Phantom and his best buddy Basil, we felt this could be possible. We talked a lot about it but never took it any further as we always found some reason not to. Phantom’s passing gave us the kick that we needed as we suddenly realised life is too short not to take the opportunity to help others experience what we learned from Phantom. In attempting to find a fitting memorial we decided that it was time to follow our dreams and keep his memory alive, Phantom’s Legacy was born.

Jyoti Pilates

I don’t come from a dance or sports background, and originally trained as a textile designer. I still design, so now combine my love of printed pattern, with my fascination with people’s movement patterns. So I’m no stranger to what sitting at a desk staring at a computer screen does to your body. And how I long to stretch and move after a day of that. I first came across Pilates about 16 years ago in my late 20’s, when I felt it was about time I started exercise of some sort, never having been ‘sporty’ or a fan of the gym. I wasn’t sure what to expect from my first class, but I did like the sound of improved muscle tone and length. I soon discovered there was a whole lot more to it than that. Although there are many physical benefits, the reason I returned after that first class, and keep returning to my mat after all these years is simply how great it makes me feel. Energised and relaxed at the same time, and definitely walking taller (a bonus when you are only 5’ 4”!) I’m certain that doing Pilates has kept the niggling aches and pains of age at bay; has allowed me to do all the other things I love with ease and grace, and has left me feeling stronger and healthier now than I did when I first started. I completed my teacher training with Body Control Pilates in 2008, and since then have loved watching the changes in my client’s bodies and their enthusiasm as they learn, and I have also learnt so much from them in return. I am a supervising teacher for BCPA in Edinburgh, helping to train new teachers, so there may be a student teacher and an extra pair of eyes to assist you in your class!

Nurturing Minds Mindfulness

nurturing minds mindfulness

London

About Annalise Jones, Founder of Nurturing Minds I created Nurturing Minds from a passionate belief that all children should be provided with the tools to look after their own Mental Health in a positive and healthy way from as young as possible. I believe that this is the key to preventing the World's Mental Health crisis from becoming anymore severe. The harsh reality of today's society shows that 1 in 6 children and young people aged between 5-16 have a diagnosable Mental Health problem, whilst 70% of these children and young people are not getting the appropriate interventions that they need at an early age (ONS, 2020). The truth is that there isn't enough services to teach our children what they need to know about their Minds and how to look after them. So I made it my mission to do just that! Nurturing Minds uses Creative Mindfulness techniques to teach children, and their parents, about their emotions, feelings and behaviours and how these all link together to form our mind. The aim of this is to create a toolbox of resources that children and parents can access at any time in their lives. These experiences of Mindfulness will help support healthy brain development and will give children and their parents a chance to actively support their emotional regulation, which will in turn, promote positive Mental Health and Well-being. Using my knowledge of child development from my degree in Early Childhood Studies, as well as my experience working with children and families of all ages, I have developed an inclusive and welcoming environment for people to learn about their minds and to help them feel the benefits of Mindfulness on their own lives, just like I have felt it on mine.

Theatre Skills Academy

Orpington

"When I was 13 I relocated from Leeds to London to take up a full time scholarship place at the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School, I received some of the best training and opportunities a young girl could wish for. After finishing school I was fortunate enough to be chosen for another full time scholarship place at Millennium Dance 2000 College for 3 years performing arts training. Even with all this incredible training I still look back fondly at the small performing arts school I attended one night a week in Leeds : Scala Kids. I owe a lot of my skills to the training I received there and would look forward to going to my classes every week without the pressure of taking exams or doing competitions. I was made to feel like part of the "Scala" family and felt free to be creative and express my talents. This is how I want the Theatre Skills Academy to be- a place where kids can come to be creative, build confidence, feel equal, learn new skills, improve their talents, and have FUN. I look forward to welcoming you all into the TSA family." Sheney Delaney. All the teachers at TSA have vast experience as both a professional performer and teacher and have a lot of knowledge to offer the children. Every lesson will work on different theatrical skills, whether it be building confidence, improving co-ordination, developing facial expressions, or performance technique. The classes run during term times, with holiday courses on offer in all the main school breaks. Each term will finish with a presentation for family and friends to come and see how their budding little performers have developed. Members also have the option to join TSA Children's Agency with the opportunity to attend professional castings for shows, film, TV and radio.
