It is my pleasure to be the Headteacher at Chelmer Valley High School. I am passionate about education and have been since joining the profession 30 years ago. Children deserve the very best education we can offer and ‘to be the very best’, is the underlying theme in all we aspire to do. I have worked in a number of schools as a senior leader and my previous post was also that of Headteacher. I have been fortunate through my career to work in a variety of settings from Inner City to a range of overseas posts in which I had the absolute privilege of being part of setting up a brand new British based school. I am very proud that visitors regularly comment on our ethos, the conduct and very positive attitude to learning of the students. The staff are superb and completely committed to supporting all the students in both their academic and social development. I have had the pleasure of working closely with our Primary partner schools enabling students to make the transition to Chelmer in a seamless manner. We are rich in a research culture and the effective sharing of good practice both within the school and across other schools. The underlying ethos of the school is enable all young people to access an education that is appropriate, inspiring, challenging and broad.

Anne started academic life as a zoologist, having been ‘good at sciences’ at school. She moved into the world of accountancy for much of her career and is now a potter. Working with ceramics is a wonderful blend of science and art. There are many points in the process at which a pot can go wrong- cracking during drying, exploding during firing, the glaze not fitting; the list is almost endless. Those are mostly solvable through the application of science. A pot can also go ‘wrong’ because it simply doesn’t please the eye- the shape can be top heavy, a handle can be beautiful but wrong for the pot. Again, the list could be endless. However, the joy in a pot that works aesthetically and that has survived the brutal ceramic processes is a deep pleasure that makes the pursuit of ceramics such a pleasurable chase. Feeling, like many potters, that there is a life time of experimentation ahead of her, Anne particularly enjoys the experimental intrigue of clay. In recent years she has been exploring porcelain slip casting in natural forms, such as avocado skins, and the effects of rain on glazed, but as yet unfired pots. The scientist is never far below the surface. Anne works in her garden studio in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

We are affiliated to the IDTA which demonstrates our staff all have the relevant qualifications and allow our pupils to take exams if they wish. Over the years several of our dancers have achieved numerous dance qualifications, attended some of the top performing arts schools in London, and a few have now returned having achieved their teaching qualifications to pass on their passion and love of dance to the next generation. We pride ourselves on being a dance school for all abilities and treat each dancer as an individual so we can cater for each individual’s needs. The school went from strength to strength which enabled us in 2012 to move to Tamworth and have our own premises. Over the course of an eighteen-year career in the English Language teaching world, I have developed a style and understanding which allows me to engage learners of all levels, styles and needs and across all age ranges. Working in both multilingual and monolingual environments in a number of countries has given me a broad spectrum of experience to draw upon when trying to understand the requirements of a learner and also the difficulties they experience during their English Language journey. More recently, I have worked in product design, development and delivery. Starting from the ground level of conception based on the needs of a specific course or group allows you to see how content must fit both the learners involved and the end result required. It has also given me the unique opportunity to deliver the course and continue to make adjustments to provide the students with the best possible experience and outcome. A number of these products also have London as a focal point. This has meant integrating the city into the language learning. Mitch has personally worked with thousands of athletes throughout his career. His clients not only have won world series rings, played in the NFL and MLS, and competed in the Olympics, but they have achieved great personal success in local competitive events and leagues. His clientele has ranged from 6 to 54 years old. In addition to being the founder and President of MTS, Mitch serves as the Prevention, Rehab, and Physical Performance Coordinator for 17 sports, as well as the strength and conditioning coach for Women’s basketball and Volleyball at Missouri State University. At MSU, he utilizes his knowledge of performance enhancement and sports medicine to coordinate the rehab and injury prevention programs for all varsity sports while simultaneously improving the athletic performance for the Lady Bear teams. His areas of interest included functional movement and biomechanics, high speed treadmill training, and metabolics. He believes that sports are not only a great outlet for people of all ages and levels to get exercise, express themselves and relieve stress, but it teaches us all a great deal about ourselves and others.
