Our Development, Training and Support offer is designed to provide essential advice and guidance to enable your church school to flourish. This includes a range of briefings, network meetings and training courses, all of which are either free or offered at significant discount to schools who are signed up to our Service Level Agreement (S4S). In addition, schools who have signed up for Governance+ are able to access all our governor training for no additional charge. Living Your Vision This is the heart of our training and support offer covering the essentials needed to develop a flourishing church school. This work to support developing your school’s Christian vision and ethos includes training for SIAMS self-evaluation and other aspects of SIAMS readiness. It also covers a series of networks and training events to develop and enhance collective worship and spirituality (including Space Makers). HeadSpace This is where you will find our support and training offer for school leaders including our series of briefings (free to schools signed up to S4S) and conferences for our headteachers across the Diocese. Termly virtual briefing sessions will provide an opportunity to hear the latest news and information from the ODBE team including updates from the Church of England Education Office, up to date learning from ongoing SIAMS and Ofsted inspections and upcoming development opportunities. A virtual mini conference and an in-person summer conference provide additional opportunities for school leaders to consider specific aspects of church school leadership – our Autumn conference will look in depth at SIAMS and its impact on school improvement. RE Central Comprises all our development, training and support for the leadership and delivery of high quality RE in schools. This includes half termly networks for RE leaders (free to schools signed up to S4S), the Developmental Thinking conference and training for Early Career Teachers. Governance This is our governance training offer which covers the key aspects of effective governance including induction, SIAMS, RE and Collective Worship, effective monitoring and evaluation, appraisal, induction and academisation. Schools signed up to S4S, our service level agreement, are also able to buy Governance+ which enables all governors to attend our governor training at no additional cost. KIRAN (also known as KIRAN Cymru) is committed to improving mental wellbeing of Black Asian Ethnic Minority people living in Wales. We particularly focus on people over 50 and young people. However, all of our activities are ‘open to all’, and we welcome everyone to participate. We currently have several projects to promote mental wellbeing. Please see below to learn about the projects and visit their respective websites. KIRAN Legal - Free Legal Help This is a pilot project by KIRAN Cymru. We help financially disadvantaged BAME members in Wales by offering free legal support (Benefits, Housing and employment) and interpretation/translation services in Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Sylheti, Punjabi and Gujrati. Please visit, kiranlegal.co.uk for more information. Friends in Need - Befriending Service This is a pilot project by KIRAN Cymru. Since March 2020, we have been helping BAME people in Cardiff with their day-to-day needs, i.e., grocery shopping. We also ring elderly community members regularly to keep in touch and overcome loneliness through our befriending service. Our ‘Friends in Need’ service helps BAME people in Wales to connect with other people and fight social isolation. Our Communities Our Strength - Wellbeing for BAME People This is a project by KIRAN Cymru. This project started in March 2021. We aim to combat the adverse effects of COVID 19 pandemic by creating regular and structured opportunities for BAME community members to connect with each other through virtual meet-ups, games, and cultural activities. We offer various opportunities for all BAME people in Wales to connect with other people in virtual social meet-ups, e.g., book clubs, bridge clubs, learning musical instruments, e.g., Piano and Tabla. There is also a community musical group for you to join. As a part of this project, we have started an English Online Magazine called Story Cloud. All community members are encouraged to take part in creative writing. KIRAN Cymru offers free guidance and training on ‘Creative Writing’. It is a beautiful skill and can improve the confidence and self-esteem of the writer. Please get in touch with us if you want to take part in creative writing. Story Cloud will publish the selected short stories, poetry and feature written by community members. Apart from the above, we offer other befriending services for local communities. Unlimited customer support including access to all lone workers. We usually look at this in three phases: Pre Go Live / Implementation. What resources are needed, what are training and learning requirements and where are the gaps in your knowledge or lone worker policy and procedure. Go Live. Getting all lone workers, administrators and respondents trained as completely, promptly and efficiently as possible with a view to reducing lost time. Post Go Live. Continual monitoring of performance, usage and KPI’s, refresher training should these dip – for lone workers or managers, and picking up and training new starters who might not have benefitted from the initial go live.

Clan Macpherson Museum

The Clan Macpherson Museum first opened its doors in 1952 to house treasures already in the hands of individuals. Over the years it has grown considerably in both size and stature and now boasts a large collection of artefacts and other objects of historical importance. The collections are significant to the Highlands of Scotland and to members of the Macpherson Clan in particular. To the Museum's acclaim it has achieved accreditation with the Museum Galleries Scotland and the Arts Council England. It has also been awarded 4-Star Museum status with Visit Scotland (Scottish Tourist Board). The layout of items in the Museum is organised in chronological order enabling a story to be told through objects, documents and text as you make your way round. There is an audio-visual presentation provided at the start of the Museum's circuit and this gives visitors insight into the clan system and the Macpherson Clan. You can take a video tour of the Museum as it was revised in 2020 by going here. The Chief of the Clan Macpherson is James B Macpherson of Cluny, the Clan's 28th Chief. Members of the clan are fortunate to have their Chief living in Scotland; Cluny, as he is referred to, takes an active part in Clan activities and he has a strong presence in the Museum itself. The Clan Macpherson Museum Trust, which is a charitable trust, runs the Museum, and the Museum Advisory Committee manages it. Neither trustees nor managers receive remuneration for their work; they are all volunteers. There is no Government or Local Authority funding available to the Clan Macpherson Museum; it relies totally on donations from visitors and members of the Clan Macpherson Association for its existence and continual growth. Entry to the Clan Macpherson Museum is free, however, it costs about £3 per person to keep the Museum open, so a donation "in the box" would be appreciated for those who wish to make a contribution. All donations are much appreciated and go towards the upkeep of the Museum and of its unique collections. We are proud to be a Scottish Tourist Board Four Star Museum, have a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, be Assisted Wheelchair Access Registered and an Accredited Museum. We have been given the 'Good To Go, Scotland' award in recognition that we have followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, ensuring processes are in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social/physical distancing.

Working with children is both a privilege and a responsibility. We all want the young people in our care to engage with learning and thrive in our settings, but children often spend large parts of their school day learning indoors. They are also spending more of their free time in sedentary or technology-based activities. While there is nothing wrong with these activities in moderation, entire days and weeks spent away from natural environments is known to be detrimental. Children’s brains are hard-wired to connect with the natural world and unless they are exposed to such environments on a regular basis, they risk being denied essential opportunities for optimal neurological development. At Cambium Sustainable we are passionate about getting children and educators outdoors and engaging in high-quality programmes. We offer a wide range of accredited courses that will enable educators to take learning out of the classroom and into natural environments that have been shown to build children’s self-confidence, emotional literacy, social skills and self-esteem. Cambium Sustainable has been working in outdoor education training for over 20 years and we were one of the first Forest School training organisations established in the UK. Giulia Manzoni is a Master Mosaicist who designs and makes bespoke mosaics for residential, artistic and architectural commissions in her central London studio. Classically trained at the renowned Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli in Spilimbergo, Italy, Giulia has spent the last 10 years refining her craft working on projects between London and San Francisco. Using centuries-old techniques, Giulia’s work reflects the rich tradition of this ancient art form. Her studio practice spans a breadth of applications, from traditional mosaics for domestic and commercial settings to contemporary works of art for private commissions. Giulia specialises in recreating historically accurate mosaics for walls and flooring. Selecting the finest Italian marbles, her designs are sensitive to a building’s architectural heritage. Notable projects include Victorian marble flooring for a private Kensington townhouse, an entrance sign for Restaurant Vermuteria designed with a nod to the grand cafés of 18th century Europe, and a collaborative restoration project for the gallery floor of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Underpinned by the same rigorous training, Giulia takes a more free form approach for her art commissions. Applying the individual tesserae directly to a surface, she gradually builds texture and colour to create works of art with a three-dimensional quality, using a range of traditional materials and found objects. She has applied her artistic flair to a range of private commissions, from tables and picture screens to a large-scale abstract artwork based on the paintings of Sam Francis. Giulia established her eponymous mosaics studio at Cockpit Arts in Holborn. Where she offers her mosaic services and runs courses in mosaic techniques.
