2024 WORKSHOP PROGRAMME UPCOMING WORKSHOPS & ACTIVITIES Each year we run a series of workshops that are open to members of the group. Most of these require booking in advance and have extra costs associated to cover things such as tutors and materials. Participation in workshops is optional. If you’re interested in taking part in any of these please speak to Jenny R at the next meeting. (Non members can book places through Facebook/Eventbrite. Workshops are added to Facebook/Eventbrite during the year as details and publicity are confirmed) JANUARY 2024 – OPEN DAY Demonstrations of weaving and spinning, giant knitting needles, items for sale and tea and cake.  Open to all. FEBRUARY 2024 – AGM No booking required. Usual AGM things – review of group finances, voting in officers, etc. Also, of course, crafting and nattering!  MARCH 2024 – CROCHET HEXAGON CARDIGAN We will be learning how to make a Hexagon cardigan in crochet.   Booking required. Non Member cost £15 APRIL 2024 – STEEKING WITH FIONA MORRIS  We will be learning how to “steek”.  We will make a “mug hug” which is knitted in the round and then cut (“steeked”) to make a space for the handle Booking required.  Non Member cost £30 MAY 2024 – BEADING ON CANVAS WITH ELIZA MCCELLAND We will make a sampler of different beading techniques  Booking required. Non member cost £30, plus materials kit £5 if required JUNE 2024 – SHOBORI DYEING WITH JENNIFER HUGHES This workshop includes a silk scarf, a silk hanky and 2 cotton squares to dye Booking required. Non member cost £35 JULY 2024 – FLAX PROCESSING WITH BRIGITTE KALTENBACHER Booking required.  Non Member cost £40 AUGUST 2024 – A VISIT TO THE ALPACA FARM No booking required to visit the farm SEPTEMBER 2024 – FINDON SHEEP FAIR No booking required. No additional cost. Findon sheep fair is the same week as our September meeting, so we’ll be heading there, rather than meeting in the hall  OCTOBER 2024 – TALKS ON ROMAN TEXTILES WEAVING AND THE HISTORY OF KNITTING WITH CAREY FEINER Booking Required. Stefano Manca is the Director of the Piano School Cambridge from September 2017, and a member of the Incorporated society of Musicians. He provides one to one private Piano Tuition & Music Theory to children and adults. Included preparation for Concerts, ABRSM & TRINITY Exams and Musical Competitions. SPECIALISED IN TEACHING CHILDREN  He has achieved the “Orff-Schulwerk” qualification in 2010 at Tor Vergata University in Rome. In recent years, this method has become very popular and relevant for helping children in the approach to music education by combining music, drama and speech into lessons that are similar to child's world of play. Thanks to this qualification, he has achieved an excellent capability in relating to children from both an emotional and musical point of view. This makes him an ideal music teacher able to make every child involved and passionate about music.   ARTISTIC CAREER    Born in Bari (Italy) in 1986; he has obtained his Bachelor of Music cum Laude in 2010 and Master of Music in Piano Solo cum Laude and Honourable Mention in 2013, both from the Conservatory of Bari (Italy). He has attended several specialization courses and master-classes in Italy, Austria and England with some of the best Italian and Foreign teachers (among them M. Somma, G. Sannicandro, E. Sarno, F. Altamura, D. Fung, E. Schumann, J. L. Wood, A. Delle Vigne) and he was always selected to perform in the final concerts. He has also attended a harpsichord master-class by M°M. Bisceglie. During the years at the Conservatory he has developed his own vast and technically complex musical repertory. Starting from "The Well-Tempered Clavier" by Bach up to Gershwin's Jazz; rising from the pillars which are Beethoven's music and Liszt music. This repertoire requires considerable technical skills and an extraordinary passion for music. He was invited to perform in piano and chamber music concerts, music lectures, music master-classes, music workshops in ITALY, UK, AUSTRIA, meeting great public acclaim. He regularly performs piano and chamber music recitals around Cambridge; most of them in colleges like Homerton, Trinity, Robinson, Clare, Girton, Newnhouse College. He regularly performs also at the Church of Our Lady and English Martyrs in solo and chamber music concerts. The piano course 2022/23 is both "online" and "in person"  * The students can play on a Roland FP-30 Digital Piano / an Hellas upright Piano / a Digital Grand Piano Yamaha CLP-765 * Parents will be informed about child's progress via email once a term  * During the year the School will organize “end of term concerts” (Christmas, Spring and Summer); students will have the opportunity to perform in front of parents and friends to show their achievements * Le Petit Concert:  It's a series of monthly concerts. No more than 6 students at the time. A perfect opportunity for students to perform in front of an audience. A good training in preparation of exams or music competition. And a good way for parents to check on their children's progress.

Multi-award winning Pigfoot Theatre tell stories about the climate and ecological crisis, with the least carbon impact possible. An associate company of English Touring Theatre (ETT), our work ‘practises what it preaches’ (The Sunday Times on Pigfoot) and protests within an industry which, in London alone, has a carbon footprint of 50,000 tonnes a year. Our bike-powered family comedy ‘How To Save A Rock’ has toured with ETT to Northern Stage and Theatre By The Lake, with Battersea Arts Centre & Found in Music, and with support from Slung Low to the Albany, Camden People’s Theatre, Poplar Union, the Pound Arts Centre, and more. HOT IN HERE (an energy-generating dance party), co-produced by the Gate Theatre, commissioned and supported by Camden People's Theatre, toured across the UK in Autumn 2022 to venues including Theatre by the Lake, York Theatre Royal, MAST Southampton, the North Wall Arts Centre, the egg Bath, mac Birmingham, ARC Stockton Arts Centre, Nonsuch Studios, and Contact Manchester. Our new show, Hostile Environments, supported by Boundless Theatre’s Accelerator programme, will begin development in 2023. We have also run workshops, delivered sustainability consultancy, and run engagement programmes for organisations including the National Theatre, Southbank Centre, Rambert, HOME Manchester, and Guildhall School of Speech and Drama. Pigfoot began in Oxford, producing site-specific work by the River Thames and at the Oxford Playhouse. I don’t think people are aware that when they take a one-day workshop master class with those artists that travel around the world they are not hands-on at all, they don’t have live models for you, and you only get to watch a demonstration and work on practice pads… We are different and we really take pride in our hands on workshops and it truly takes a team of amazing trainers not just Erin. We have many locations and so it takes all of us… and our trainers are all amazing!

Social Enterprise of the Year 2022 (Social Enterprise Northern Ireland Awards 2022) Social Enterprise of the Year 2021 (Causeway Coast & Glens) The Designerie is a shop, creative hub, workshop and community destination, selling handmade products from Northern Ireland and Ireland. Founded by Enterprise Causeway in 2015, its core purpose is to grow the creative industry and promote creativity within the community, using it to build relationships and connect people.   The idea for The Designerie was born during Christmas 2014, when Enterprise Causeway teamed up with local artists and crafters to make Christmas Trees out of recycled pallets at our industrial estate. We set up a workshop in one of our units at Enterprise Causeway and opened a pop up shop in The Diamond Centre in Coleraine. Now a gorgeous destination in Bushmills - we supports over 80 creatives on the beautiful North Coast. The heart of The Designerie has always been to create a space where people from various social and cultural backgrounds, with different interests, and of all ages can come together to be creative, make new connections and feel inspired. We have delivered this under our support for business and support for community. We want everyone who visits to feel part of the experience, so you can always expect just that when you call in to see us. President: Bonnie McIver - Bonnie’s professional design career includes advertising and graphic design in the NY Metro area, and interior design in western Pennsylvania. She founded and operated an upscale interior design and home furnishings consignment store before retiring to NC. Vice-President: Nancy Miller - Nancy, a new resident of SC, recently retired from her professional fundraising career in Baltimore, MD. having worked for Easter Seals, The National Defense University Foundation, and most recently, the American Cancer Society. Treasurer: Janet Payeski - Janet is enjoying the vast opportunities the Grand Strand area offers artists. Formerly a part-time resident, she moved here full-time recently and hopes that her 30-year background in Finance, including Cash Management and Financial Analysis, brings helpful skills to the Treasurer position. Secretary: Lynn Buck - Lynn is a pastel artist and former resident of CT. She became interested in pastels 20 years ago and trained under a local artist. She works mostly in pastel, but also in watercolor and acrylics. She lives in Carolina Shores with her husband, dog and cat. Edinburgh School of Music is an independent music school based in Edinburgh city centre. We are a team of highly experienced, enthusiastic and professional teachers who provide music lessons in a wide range of instruments. Our goal at ESM is to bring the love of music into all our student's lives in a fun and enjoyable way as well as providing all the necessary skills to pass exams, perform with confidence and compose music and songs. We are very proud to maintain a 100% pass rate in all our student's instrumental and vocal music exams making us Edinburgh's favourite music school for private music lessons. One - to - one tuition Lessons are available for a range of instruments including voice, piano, guitar, violin, viola, cello, saxophone, clarinet, flute, recorder and drums. We offer one to one private lessons in our studio in Meadowbank or online lessons. Groups We offer a range of music group activities including our Baby music groups (for ages 0-5), youth singing groups, performance coaching workshops and summer school music groups. Please contact us to find out the groups that are currently available. Concerts At ESM we believe that learning to make incredible music is just not as rewarding if you don’t share it with others. We provide monthly showcases at Edinburgh's Jazz Bar in addition to end of term concerts. This gives our students plenty of opportunities to showcase their progress and develops our pupils into confident performers. Unfortunately, due to current restrictions surrounding concerts, we are unable to host any concerts at this time.

I am a self employed artist, tutor and workshop leader. My personal working practice is figurative, incorporating my own dance movement language and working from other models and figurative imagery in the out comes of drawing, mixed media, art works, painting and printmaking. I have recently began to explore sculptural mediums and working with clay and throwing on the wheel. I am particularly inspired by the visual narrative gained from documentary and fashion photography and use my own and sourced photography as a visual aid. I currently I am currently teach and facilitate a regular figure and life drawing class, which is of a good standard. I enjoy tutoring adults as well as joining in with drawing and allowing others valid input into the group. I also run family Saturday morning art workshops at ocean studios which have included experimental painting and fun painting and drawing games, narrative book making, clay tiles, printing, marbling, badge making etc I also own my own portable printing press and can lead monotype, dry point etching and Collagraph print-making. I recently completed a year-long ‘defining practice’ course at the Newly School of Art and I endeavour to continue developing my own artists practice as well as working within the community in diverse ways, whilst drawing upon my wealth of experience. I am also keen to make drawn portraits of people at community street events. I continually visit and enjoy art exhibitions, live music, arts cinema, dance performance, theatre, comedy, street performance.
