ABOUT WAVERLEY EQUESTRIAN TRAINING CENTRE Originally founded in the grounds of Stoneleigh Abbey WEC moved firstly to Cubbington, near Leamington Spa, and is now based at The 3B's (Bubbenhall Bridge Barn).   We are very proud of the large selection of stunning horses who form part of The 3Bs family.   They are trained in a variety of equestrian disciplines including Cross-country jumping, Cavalry Drills, Eventing Clinics, Team Chases, Hunter Trials, Trekking and Riding to Hounds.  Polo lessons, chukkas and tournaments are available at the nearby Offchurch Bury Polo club and also we can organise outings to Knights of Middle England for instruction in riding Side-saddle, jousting, horse archery and trick riding.   We can tailor our events to suit the needs of our clients, however our horses are not suitable for beginner riders or children under 12. The 3Bs is approximately two hours from Gatwick Airport, one hour and 20 minutes from Heathrow and only half an hour from Birmingham International Airport.  Trains  from London Euston to Coventry, or from Marylebone to Leamington Spa, take just over an hour.   We are happy to meet our guests from either station and from Birmingham Airport. Our Accommodation is all en-suite with family-style dining and a congenial atmosphere with just a hint of magic! For the non-riders, or non-riding hours, we are a short distance from Stratford-upon-Avon, the castles of Warwick and Kenilworth, and there are no less than 5 excellent golf-courses within 10 minutes from the barn. Michael and Diana Jack, Waverley's proprietors, have a tennis court, swimming pool and croquet lawn at their nearby home in the grounds of Stoneleigh Abbey and often invite their guests to join them for an afternoon or evening of activities in their lovely garden. Waverley has its own breeding programme and regularly has young foals and young horses needing attention.

The original Oxford Wine Company was founded in 1840 and traded from 125 High Street, Oxford until 1914. The name was revived in the early 1990s by Ted Sandbach, metamorphosing from ‘The Oxford Hamper Company through ‘The Oxford Wine and Hamper Company’ and finally becoming ‘The Oxford Wine Company’ in the Spring of 1992. Since then expansion has been rapid and the company now bears very little resemblance to its relatively humble origins in Ted’s garage! These days, The Oxford Wine Company is a multi-award winning local independent wine merchant with a national profile. The company has achieved a Top 10 spot in Harpers Wine & Spirit 50 Best Indies every year, and has won multiple prestigious awards such as ‘Small Chain of the Year’ in the Drinks Retailing Awards and ‘Regional Merchant of the Year’ in the International Wine Challenge. The Oxford Wine Company has three shops in Oxford: on the Botley Road, Turl Street (just around the corner from the original Oxford Wine Company site) and since 2020 on Little Clarendon Street. There is also a shop at the company’s headquarters in Standlake (just outside Witney). In addition to the retail shops we have a thriving wholesale arm, supplying a large range of restaurants, bars and other businesses throughout the South of England, and even have a sales arm in Wales. Our team are passionate about wine and have the qualifications to prove it. Seven of the company’s staff hold the Wine and Spirit Education Trust Diploma, and a further four are studying towards this industry benchmark qualification. One member of our staff is even working towards the Master of Wine, known as one of the world’s most difficult exams. We love to share our knowledge, and also run The Oxford Wine School, which is an accredited programme provide for the WSET, offering beginner to advanced level courses. These structured courses are complemented by our busy events calendar, comprising informal tastings, winemaker-led masterclasses as well as annual fairs and dinners. Most events take place in The Jericho Wine Rooms, a purpose-built tasting room above our Little Clarendon Street shop. Smaller, more intimate tastings take place in the historic and atmospheric cellar beneath our Turl Street Shop. The Oxford Wine Company stocks a range of over two thousand products, ranging from well-known classics to esoteric curiosities across wines, spirits and beers. Our team taste and travel extensively to make sure that each and every bottle on our shelves offers the best quality. We work hard to source wines that suit every palate and pocket. Combine this with the great service from each and every member of our team, and we think we’re onto a winning formula!

When World War Two broke out the firm moved into the production of aircraft wings and it was to be peacetime before it turned its attention to plumbing, manufacturing copper cylinders and complete plumbing systems, mostly for Australia and the Middle East. As the markets for complete systems decreased McDonald Water Storage found itself expanding within the copper cylinder market. McDonald Water Storage is proud of its independent status – it is one of only a very few British independent manufacturers remaining in the plumbing and heating industry. The 1930’s saw the original company formed as McDonald Engineers by the McDonald brothers, motor and general engineers. WWII had McDonald Engineers rapidly expanding to three factories manufacturing various items for the war effort but mainly aircraft wings for Hudson Bombers and other aircraft. The end of the war saw them to move into new products such as pre-fabricated plumbing, sheet metalwork and vented copper cylinders. Financial instability in the 1960’s saw the company bought over by the Inglefield Group who employed James R Stewart (late Father of Bill, Jamie and Grandfather of David and Rachael) as managing director in 1960. JR Stewart performed a management buyout in 1973. At this time the main activities were prefabricated plumbing, vented copper cylinders (solar cylinders from 1968, foam lagging from 1971, coils from 1975), truck bodies and waste disposal skips. Due to declining markets and a recession, the decision was taken to close the steel fabricating factory in Kirkcaldy and rationalise the entire operation into the Loughborough Road, Kirkcaldy factory – concentrating wholly on copper cylinders and soon after, acquiring the BSI Kitemark. The company bought its first computer in 1986. 1990’s Huge changes! The company moved premises to Glenrothes in 1992. The POWERflow unvented system was launched the same year, soon followed by the THERMflow mains pressure thermal storage system. Jamie Stewart took over as Sales Director to support Bill Stewart as Managing Director and James Stewart became chairman. James sadly passed away and Bill also took on the role of Chairman. During the 1990’s, it was decided to pursue product specification by appointing two technical sales managers. The company website and emails were setup in 1996 one of the first in their industry to do so. In 2004 The Company bought the Amada CNC Punch Machine, our biggest capital Investment at that time. In 2006 the company self funded and built a 10,000sq.ft. factory extension to accommodate increased sales. More recently in 2018 Jamie Stewart became MD and David Stewart son of Bill, became Sales Director. The company took on a Divisional Director for England and to make it clearer to potential new customers what we do, changed our name to McDonald Water Storage and took on a full time marketing manager to spread the word! In 2020 amid the Covid strife, we celebrated our 75 year anniversary. A year of challenging trading and working conditions with the worldwide pandemic. Despite that we saw the Company all pull together to ensure not only survival, but indeed many improvements, growth and investment and several product launches with the introduction of MULTIflow, ELSOflow, WHEELIflow and COPPERtouch. A redesign and relaunch of our website was undertaken, with improved customer usability and a dedicated spares and online cylinder section.
