As a traditional goldsmith with over 20 years of experience, Jasmin’s passion for jewellery design never faded. In Jasmin´s words: As a child I always wanted to become a true renaissance man or, in my case, woman. I dreamed of being a painter, sculptor and innovator living a life solving the mysteries of the world like Leonardo da Vinci or Michelangelo. So I became a goldsmith, learning the ancient art of working with precious metals and intriguing gemstones. During my years in the jewellery business I had the wonderful opportunity to work with renowned jewellery artists, like Wendy Ramshaw, Jacqueline Mina and others to design high-end collections and to make jewellery in every metal I could possibly lay my hands on (palladium and niobium are still amongst my favourites). Ultimately, I discovered my passion for teaching. Through my association with one of the most prestigious jewellery schools in the world (GIA) I have inspired hundreds of students in such far-flung locations as Thailand, Italy and California. With my many classes, I have combined the intricacies of jewellery design with the elements of technology, using the latest CAD/CAM developments, whilst sharing both my joy and undiminished affection for an industry that I have been involved with for all my working life. Today, I still do what I love. I run my own jewellery business, Jaqc Jewellery and Jaqc Jewellery Academy, offer design consultancy, and illustrate jewellery for a variety of companies. ProTemporis is an outsourcing and consultancy service to provide schools with specialist support for their timetable provision. Having worked at management level for almost 20 years in independent schools, and having been responsible for timetabling in various roles throughout that time, it has often occurred to me that it was a pity that more schools were not able to benefit from real expertise in this area. The timetable is such an important part of the effective functioning of a school, and yet time and time again I have been aware of schools which have struggled in some way with this aspect of their management. After 10 years as Deputy Head at my last school, I saw an opportunity to go and do something different and to set about establishing a service to schools that would fill a gap in the support that has been available to them in the past. Gill, Peter & Naomi The Hands Family The Hands Family & Hotels – How it All Began! Peter and Gill Hands started their business “Tauber Hands Ltd”, shortly after getting married in February 1986. Their first business, The Hyperion House hotel was a small 18 bedroom 2 star hotel in Fairford, Gloucestershire, which they purchased and quickly developed into a very successful 3 star 26 bedroom hotel with a popular restaurant. Naomi, currently Operations Director at the Speech House was born in 1988 in Fairford, and lived there with Peter’s daughter, Amanda. Shortly after having sold the Hyperion House the family moved back to Hereford. Having made this decision to opt for an “easier” way of life they invested the proceeds from the sale of the Hyperion into Breinton Court, a self-catering leisure complex on the banks of the River Wye, just outside Hereford . Katy, their second daughter soon appeared, and Breinton Court also became the family home for the next 31 years. Whilst at Breinton Court, Peter and Gill went on to purchase “The Bell Hotel “opposite Tewkesbury Abbey in 1992 and having sold it in 1995 took a short break until 1997 when they purchased the Heritage Park Hotel in the Rhondda Valley a 44 bedroomed hotel with a health spa and large conference and banqueting facility for 250 guests. They sold the Heritage Park Hotel in 2005, thinking they would take a break for a while but after 5 years of Peter taking over as Chairman of “Visit Hereford” for three and a half years and Gill doing some consultancy work, they couldn’t get rid of the “Hospitality Itch”. In 2010, they decided to have one last hurrah and invested in the wonderful historic Speech House. Ten years later, in 2020, their daughter Naomi, joined the family business. Having grown up in hotels, and then working in London for the past 10 years in marketing, she decided it was time for Mum & Dad to start considering the idea of retirement. Naomi, who has a keen interest in mountain biking and the outdoors was appointed “Operations Director”, and is bringing new ideas to The Speech House. She has a broad knowledge of the industry, and looking to bring new thoughts and ideas in to keep the Speech House as the premier hotel in the heart of The Royal Forest of Dean. The Speech House Hotel truly is a Hands family business, with Katy’s art and paintings all around the building, and Amanda holding her weddding at the hotel in 2021! The other new addition to the Management Team is Luca, Peter and Gill’s adopted Lucas Terrier who can often be seen around the hotel. Luca was made “Director of Dog Friendly Visits” He has been given his own Instagram page and become quite a favourite with the guests, both two and four legged.

I am passionate about delivering useful, relevant legal training for busy practitioners to support them in developing legally literate good practice in adult social care. I am trusted and valued by a lengthy list of local authorities to provide high quality, excellent value bespoke training to their staff which engages and empowers them as practitioners. A subject expert with specialisms in adult social care and health law and in autism, my genuine commitment and enthusiasm for improving legal literacy and best practice in adult social care is evident to those attending my training. I am able to create a supportive learning atmosphere in which practitioners with a range of levels of experience feel confident to express themselves and have the space to develop their skills and reflect on their practice. My training is very popular with staff because of the relevant content and support they receive in applying the law to practice. I am readily able to answer questions at all levels and give realistic examples to support participants in applying the law to the realities of practice. In addition to my extensive experience in developing and delivering training for the public sector, I have a particular skill at explaining complex legal topics in an accessible and engaging way. I create and deliver training on all aspects of the Care Act; Adult Safeguarding law and practice from Safeguarding Enquiries to advanced legal options for complex case work; Mental Capacity law including CoP and BIA Refresher; DOLS and LPS; aspects of Mental Health Law including s.117 and nearest relative; Transitions; Human Rights and broad Legal Literacy training for Adult Social Care. I specialise in advanced autism knowledge specifically for public sector professionals: social care staff, teachers, health staff at all levels. I bring together my extensive knowledge of autism and my familiarity with the social care, health and education sectors to support practitioners with practical knowledge such as: practical communication with autistic people across the spectrum; supporting autistic people to cope with change. Many of these courses are now delivered on my behalf by a small group of autistic trainers. I also offer specialist autism training specifically for social work (including Care Act and capacity assessment of autistic people & safeguarding autistic people.) I am also able to provide specialist courses in autism for educational settings. I offer a consultancy service in both of my fields of expertise providing tailored support, research and specialist knowledge for a range of purposes. This includes change management consultancy within the public sector aimed at service improvement: around autism and/or improved compliance with legal frameworks. In the autism field, this included a successful and extensive change management project supporting an autism special school to become a Centre of Excellence, consultancy work and outreach with a range of mainstream schools across the area, local authority and health staff and a series of videos on practical autism topics for the Scottish Government. Recent work on the legal framework of social care has involved training for a variety of local authorities, including bespoke courses and advanced training on Safeguarding, the Care Act and in the area of Mental Capacity Law/DOLS/LPS. I am currently project managing a substantial project on Inclusive Governance on behalf of the National Autistic Taskforce (working in partnership with ARGH and AMASE) for Scottish Autism.
