 Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu (jiujitsu) currently has in excess of 2,000 students, both Infants (4 – 7 years) Juniors (8 – 12 years) Teenagers (13 – 15 years) and Adults (16 – 80 years) training regularly in separate classes throughout its clubs in England. Kevin is also an established author and was invited to write two books, now in several languages, on the subject of Ju Jitsu (jiujitsu) by the publishing giants, Barnes & Nobel, Alan Clark Books, Connections and Edison Sadd, along with a 32 page section for the internationally-acclaimed “The Ultimate Book of Martial Arts”, which has gone on to being one of the best-selling martial books of all time, and printed in several languages. Since the early 90’s, Kevin has received invitations to teach his no-nonsense style of Jiu Jitsu from around the globe, attracting international attention from many of the world’s leading close protection agencies and military Special Forces. Kevin has served with the Royal Marine Reserve (City of London), the Royal Military Police (253 Pro Coy) and as a dog handler in The Parks Police completing his service at the rank of Sergeant. Kevin also worked for six years as a professional close protection officer, having been personally invited to join an elite team drawn from Britain’s Special Forces, being primarily responsible for the personal security of the Dubai Royal family. In November 1997, Kevin moved to Norfolk and established the Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu (jiujitsu) headquarters in the picturesque village of Caston, where he personally teaches twice a week in the evening aside of his professional duties as the founder and chief instructor. In 2001 Kevin was inducted in to Combat Magazine’s Black Belt Hall of Fame held at the Aston Villa Conference Centre in Birmingham , and in 2003 was invited back to receive a “Guardian of the Martial Arts” award. In 2011 Kevin was once again invited back to the Combat Hall of Fame awards held at the Aston Villa Conference Centre in Birmingham where he was officially honoured and recognised for his service to the world of Martial Arts with a “Lifetime Achievement Award”… In November 2013 Kevin was invited to the “Martial Arts Illustrated” Hall of Fame awards where he was presented with a “Lifetime Achievement Award”…

WCCM in the UK is a national community of the World Community for Christian Meditation, a global spiritual community united in the practice of meditation in the Christian tradition. It shares the fruits of this practice widely and inclusively, serving the unity of all and building understanding between faiths and cultures. Community members of WCCM worldwide are those who follow the WCCM Mission Statement: To communicate and nurture meditation as passed on through the teaching of John Main in the Christian tradition in the spirit of serving the unity of all. In practical terms this means that the community offers opportunities for people to learn about meditation, helps them to deepen their practice over the years and encourages them to provide opportunities for others to do the same – not only though local group meetings but also through sharing meditation more widely in such spheres as prisons, schools and the marginalised in our society, as a few examples. At a local level, the UK community is widespread and many followers meet on a regular, mostly weekly, basis to meditate together in churches, halls and homes. These groups help to nurture and support a growing practice of meditation. Structurally, groups are ordered into regions to facilitate communication, local contact and the organisation of regional activities such as quiet days and retreats. You can find your local group and region here. As well as meeting in physical groups, the community facilitates on-line meditation and providing the opportunity to meditate with others at most times of the day and night across the globe. You can search for online groups here. At a national level there are essential teaching weekends and silent retreats as well as an annual conference for sharing and deepening the practice. The UK charity is run almost exclusively by volunteers. The organisation of WCCM in the UK is through a registered charity with a Board of Trustees and a National Council comprising principally the Regional and Special Interest Coordinators and guided by a National Coordinator. The day-to-day facilitation of the community is managed through a body called the Action Group, chaired by the National Coordinator, along with a very small office team. Our school supports students in developing creative confidence and finding courage through a range of icon painting courses and workshops open to students at all levels. Edinburgh School of Icon Painting was founded in September 2013. It is a small school based in the artist hub St. Margaret's House. The school mission is to teach icon painting (writing) to people of all different backgrounds but at the same time maintaining the ethos and essence of it's spirituality. Introducing this unique form of art to students of the school I introduce a way of practising art which is different the other forms of art and it is said to be more then just art. Students learn egg tempera technique which has been used in art for centuries and it is one of the most lasting painting techniques. There are still reasonably well preserved icons from VI Century. Egg tempera involves preparing own paints using egg yolk and dry pigments. Through the whole process of work we try to limit synthetic materials. Using organic materials helps to develop a connection with nature and in consequence with the Divine. Basia Mindewicz - founder and teacher. Born in 1978. My presentations were entitled 'Implementing a small steps programme for working with children with selective mutism' and 'An overview of interventions for children with selective mutism'. In 2019, I co-delivered a workshop in Melbourne Australia, aimed at parents of children with Selective Mutism and school staff. I have also been a speaker at the SM Help Summit as well as the Early Year's summit. Other work In 2016, I worked on the Brave Buddies programme (an intensive therapeutic programme for children with selective mutism) delivered by the Child Mind Institute in New York City, USA. In 2017, I worked on the WeSpeak programme at Kurtz Psychology in New York, an intensive therapeutic programme for children aged 11-14 with selective mutism. International work I offer Online Sessions, having supported parents of children with selective mutism from the UK, USA, South Africa, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates and more. I have also delivered direct intensive therapy to children internationally, including in the UK, Bulgaria and in Thailand. In 2019, I co-founded and delivered the Selective Mutism Group Programme (SMGP) in London, UK and in 2020 I co-delivered the SMGP in Australia. In order to reach even more children and families, we now have a team of Confident Children practitioners who are passionate and experienced in Selective Mutism. In 2022, Confident Children was asked to become a SMIRA associate (an associate of the UK SM association). At Confident Children, our passion and goal is to help as many children with Selective Mutism as possible to find their voice.

Our committee (pictured right) organises London-based face-to-face events to encourage close and sustainable networking between people: “The January Event” (usually the 2nd/3rd Saturday), “The June Event” (usually the 2nd Saturday) and “The TiLT Conference” (Technology in Language Teaching – usually the 3rd Saturday in April). In October we hold a Student Teacher Reception and a ‘Show and Tell’ at the Language Show Live followed by a social.
