DATE: 13th February TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Central Film School are delighted to welcome students from Point Blank Music School to come and take part in a Mixer Event in Studio A on the evening of 13th February. This is an exciting opportunity for you to get to meet and network with other creative students and potential future collaborators. Whether you're looking for a composer for your latest film, or looking for someone to help shoot a music video, this is a great chance to get to know more students around London. DATE: Monday 15th July TIME: 12:30pm LOCATION: Studio A We will be hosting a meeting to see how many students would be interested in a potential school trip to the Berlin International Film (Berlinale) festival next year, in Spring 2025. Organised by Mark de Valk and Conrad Pollock, this trip will offer you the chance to get to the heart of both the European Film Industry and one of the world's coolest, most vibrant cities. The Berlinale is one of the most prestigious film festivals active today, and you'll be exposed to new releases from around the world, make international connections and get to explore a European capital that's rich in history and culture. Currently we are looking at 5 days and 4 nights overall, with group travel and accommodation together. If you are interested, please join us for this meeting. This trip is open to all CFS students on all courses, and booking will likely take place in Autumn term. Please note, the trip's viability is subject to a minimum number of sign-ups (amount tbc).

Date: Thursday 15th June Time: 4pm Location: Studio A - Landor Road Event Details: Tim Haines is a television producer and director, having worked on several highly-respected documentary and drama productions over a storied career. Tim will speak about the following topics as well as others at the event: Approaches to Documentary How a Documentary Gets Made The Purpose of a Documentary Modern Combinations of CGI & Live Action Throughout students will have the chance to ask questions about the topics being discussed, before wrapping up with a wider Q+A session at the end. A multiple Emmy and BAFTA winner, Tim has worked on many well known series, including: - Walking with Dinosaurs - Director & Producer - Primeval - Producer - The Loch - Producer - Surviving Earth (currently in production) - Producer This is a free event that all students are welcome to attend. 1-2-1 music lessons for most instruments out of well equipped centres in North Wales

Date: Wednesday 1st November Time: 3pm Location: Classroom 2 We are pleased to invite The Mandy Network to come and speak to all of our students about the services they provide, and how their website can help with casting and networking for your films. Offering a safe, professional manner for creative individuals to connect with one another, this is an essential event for any actors, filmmakers and future creatives to attend and learn from.

Time: 4pm Date: Friday 8th December Location: Studio A Come and celebrate the work of your fellow CFS students and staff, as we showcase short films that have been made within our academic community! Featuring a wide variety of different visual stories, genres, themes and ideas, we are proud to be showcasing all these films in Studio A on the big screen! Be sure to book your ticket to come along to our school's own miniature film festival!

DATE: Thursday 11th July TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Chris Jones is one of the lead organisers of the London Screenwriting Festival, and also recently served as Splinter Unit Director of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One. He will be discussing both how students can navigate film festivals and make their work stand out, and also his experiences working in a position of creative control on a large-scale blockbuster film. Be sure to book your tickets in advance for this event.

Date: 24th October 2023 Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Sorcha Kurien-Walsh, a former pupil at Central Film School, has kindly agreed to join us to discuss her career as a TV screenwriter and her work on the upcoming comedy series Rivals, set to star David Tennant and Danny Dyer and release on Disney+ next year. Additionally, she will speak about her BBC Studios short film 'The Pink Pill', and answer any questions students may have about working as a screenwriter in the TV industry. Make sure to come along and bring questions to ask her!

Date: 12th March 2024 Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Acclaimed actress Ruth Negga will be joining us in a Professional Perspectives session next month, discussing her career, experiences working with many famous directors (Neil Jordan, Jeff Nichols, James Gray & Duncan Jones amongst others) as well as on TV shows such as Preacher, Misfits and Agents of SHIELD. There will also be a Q+A session towards the end where students can ask her questions directly. Be sure to book tickets in advance so that you can secure your place for this exciting event!

DATE: 15th February TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Classroom 2 St John Ambulance have kindly agreed to provide a First Aid Safety Information workshop to any interested Central Film School students. Areas of focus will include how to be safe on a night out, and also how to handle injuries specific to film sets (burns, electrocution, etc.) This is fantastic information to have both for your professional development and personal life. You never know when you may one day need to call upon what you've learnt. Be sure to book in advance and email academics@centralfilmschool.com if there are any issues or questions.
