Who works at The Bonny Academy? At the moment, the only person working here is the founder, Lee-Ann Bonny. Lee-Ann is an experienced & fully qualified teacher. Look on the bio page for more info. The Bonny Academy offers courses based around vocal coaching, performance & music theory and is aiming towards a future of training for roles in the events industry. There are vocal coaching subscriptions available, as well as online vocal courses. Vocal coaching & music tutoring is available via video call & face to face. The Bonny Academy has recently become a registered centre with awarding body Qualsafe. You can now access a wider range of courses including: Health & Safety at Work, Risk Assessments, Safeguarding, Fire Safety, Education & Training Level 3 and much more. Some of these courses have e-learning available in the shop on this website and, in the training section, you’ll find a full list of courses I currently offer. You’ll also find links to sign up to courses that I’ll be holding. All Qualsafe courses are certified qualifications & are regulated by Ofqual. Any Qualsafe qualfication that you do with me can be added to your digital learning record. Your learning record holds all of your qualifications from 2012 and can be accessed by educational institutions and employers, so you can make sure your credentials are proven. I am working hard on offering live/online workshops linked with live events services: volunteering, awareness of vulnerable groups, disability recognition, ALN/SEND & much more! The Bonny Academy courses & workshops will be accredited so you can add the hours to your Continued Professional Development files. The quarterly online vocal workshop already has accreditation & is worth 2 CPD hours, so make sure you sign up with your email to find out dates for those! This name originated from sitting in biology, daydreaming about anything other than biology, as the information went straight over my head. At school I thought I was below par, not smart, not capable. Which was a shame. I wasn’t interested in most of the subjects, and thus I didn’t do well and my expectations for my life lowered. Fast forward to my first job, a role in Marketing. It required me to work quietly on my own, building websites, brochures, flyers etc. I wasn’t very good at it. I realised that talking to other people, working in teams, with a unified goal in mind, motivated me.10 years in Recruitment has seen far more success than anything I’ve done previously. Why? Once it became apparent the complex restoration of Pioneer was possible, the decision was made to set up Pioneer Sailing Trust in 1999. The trust, whose founder trustees were Mary Falk, Charles Harker and Rupert Marks, is a registered charity. From day one practical help and funding has arrived in generous measure from many individuals, organisations and local businesses. Pioneer’s new purpose is to offer young people the challenge of sailing, which often proves to be a life changing experience. Pioneer has accommodation for three qualified crew and twelve trainees. As a powerful and strong sea going vessel, she is ideally suited for day sailing or passage work in the Thames estuary, across the North Sea or the English Channel. Being a crew member highlights and emphasises many vital qualities essential in life and the trust believes these practical and new experiences helps develop young people. The trust also opened Harker’s Yard in 2009 to further its work with training and education in the marine industry and provided opportunities for work experience and apprenticeships in marine engineering and boat building and repair. Pioneer Sailing Trust works closely with life development trusts, training agencies, councils, social services and other organisations devoted to improving the life prospects of young people, many of whom deal with difficult circumstances. Young people often find time at the trust opens new windows of opportunity.

Highlanes Gallery

Highlanes Municipal Art Gallery opened its doors on October 4, 2006 and was the culmination of many years planning to deliver a dedicated visual art space for the Irish north east region, of an international standard in terms of design, management, environmental control and security. The gallery is sited in the former Drogheda Franciscan Church and part of the Friary; known locally as the ‘High Lane Church’. The Franciscans gifted the property to the people of Drogheda when they ended their 760 year association with the town in 2000. The buildings date from the early 19th century, though elements date back to earlier times and include the former Franciscan burial crypts. The main exhibition spaces are open plan and include the old Church level and a new floor at the height of the old balcony and as such, the character of the building is not lost. The Board of management raised over €4 million from international and local funding and donations. This was a major achievement for the town. As part of the development of the gallery the Board made a strategic decision to purchase much of the adjoining property a number of years ago, to enable it to plan for Highlanes Munipal Art Gallery’s long-term development. Much of this property has been incorporated in the development.
