After 34 years working as a graphic designer/illustrator and photographer, I made a career change in 2018 to concentrate on my love of art, crafts, making and printing. Natural forms/plants, landscapes and architecture are my favourite subjects to work with but nothing is out of the question if it inspires me. Gel plate monoprinting allows me to work with all of these in various combinations, printing onto gift tags, envelopes, glass, wood, fabric and large format paper. I also eco-print using leaves, flowers and natural plant/vegetable dyes, but am also a big fan of using commercial small batch dyes for quick results with fabrics. The ‘making’ aspect of my work allows me to produce small bespoke items. Brooches are a favourite, with each one being hand painted and therefore a one-off (even if the colour way is similar). My latest are formed from a birch plywood base, which I choose to source externally rather than make myself, and therefore help to support another business. I also enjoy teaching and really love seeing others learn something new and take home the items and skills they have acquired.....hopefully with the inspiration to do more! The photography side of my work still ticks over in the background with images and items that I sell on Redbubble. I have also remained a contributor to online photo libraries including Dreamstime and Adobe Stock. Commissioned work is something I take on now and again when time allows. NEVER WAS SO MUCH 'STILL' OWED BY SO MANY, TO THE 'FORGOTTEN FEW' OF THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN. On June 4th 1940, following the evacuation of British and Allied forces from the beaches of Dunkirk and the decimation of the British Army, all that stood between German invasion of Britain was a 20 mile stretch of the English Channel and the pilots of the RAF’s Hurricane, Spitfire and bomber squadrons, later to be called ‘The Few’. And so began the Battle of Britain. Among the brave airmen who fought in the skies above Britain during the Battle and after, were a few Polish fighter pilots, volunteers, our first Allies who had been ordered to evacuate across German-occupied Europe to continue the fight for the defence of France and then Britain. Sadly at the end of the war they never formally received the recognition they, we feel deserved, and were not wholly allowed to participate in the VE Day celebrations. We call them ‘The Forgotten Few’ and want to change this to ensure there is a lasting remembrance, unity, legacy and education (RULE) for all generations. You can help us with this by simply sharing this website and telling your friends, family, teachers and frankly, anyone else. We are also developing education packs that we hope to supply to schools wishing to participate, ensuring children can continue to learn about the sacrifice made for their future. You could also help through volunteering, donating, or buying something from our store so we can continue to fund the project.

About Sound Matters was founded in 2014, following a series of conversations between Mike Edwards (climate change and sustainability expert) and Harry Coade (music producer and soundscape recordist). These conversations, which took place in London pubs, cafes and galleries, were focused on how sound and listening could be used to create more sustainable and resilient futures. Mike and Harry discovered a unique and deep synergy between their disparate areas of expertise and began to further explore how they could apply this knowledge and insight. After delivering a series of lectures at leading universities in London, Mike and Harry began working on a number of global research initiatives, and academic courses, which were designed to discover more about how sound and listening could be used to understand the political, social, economic and environmental systems shaping the world. They also began working with a number of corporate clients who were looking for new ways of engaging their staff and stakeholders with the importance of creating business practices which were sustainable for both people and planet. From humble beginnings, Sound Matters has grown into an organisation which is widely acknowledged as a global leader in the use of sound and the art of listening to help individuals and organisations understand, and help solve, the most fundamental challenges facing the world. Hello! I am Samantha Dholakia, the founder of SPD Tuition and Coaching and creator of The Behaviour Balance System© (TBBS) and The Behaviour Bank© (TBB). I am an Executive Coach and mentor, Neurolinguistic Programmer and Consultant Trainer. With over 15 years experience in the education sector, I have worked in multiple managerial and leadership roles, including deputy head, RMT consultant trainer, educational consultant and accredited CPD creation for companies such as Twinkle and TTS.
