Est. 1968About In 1968, Terry Farrington had a decision to make. As a flight attendant for Delta Airlines, she was told she was going to have to relocate away from Birmingham. Donna Jones was active in her daughter Paula’s dance studio and good friends with its owner. Terry’s mother convinced the girls into opening a studio and they chose the then eight year old city of Hueytown for the location. Terry had a strong background in dance and theater, while Donna had a strong background in music and voice. With the help of the Baumann family, they opened TeriDona School of Dance in a small building by Baumann Coatings. It soon moved to a location in Caffey Junction then to its current location in Hueytown, Alabama, which was purchased from the Vernon family. For over 50 years, thousands of students have walked through the studio doors. Many went on to use the training they got from TeriDona in performance-related fields, while others simply reminisce on the skills that would help them throughout their lives. One of the original TeriDona dance moms was none other than Jane Roton, whose daughters Paige and Peyton were among the first students. In 1971, Renee Lamar walked through those doors for the first time. Her mom had taken her to another studio for her first year of dance, but she attended a TeriDona Recital and made the decision to move her to that studio. Donna was Renee’s teacher and she immediately was drawn to her. Renee worked as hard as she could for Donna. Renee eventually worked her way into the more advanced classes taught by Terry and solos taught by Paula. The focus was always on the performance and knowing your audience. Being classy and entertaining. Working hard and having fun while doing it. Heather Goolsby showed up in 1997. A transfer from another studio, she was a handful. But she was spunky and funny and actually had talent. She worked her way up from a student teacher to an assistant and then a teacher. Renee and Heather knew they had some large shoes to fill when they took over in 2013. Living up to such a huge legacy has been challenging but one they never lost sight of. Every decision they make takes into consideration what Mrs. Terry and Mrs. Donna would think about it. Today, TeriDona School of Dance rehearses in Hueytown, AL and travels the world to perform in competitions, parades, and performances to showcase the talent of every dancer that steps into the studio.

As a former primary Head Teacher of three substantive posts and one interim headship, I now enjoy my role in providing independent consultancy support and challenge to leaders at all levels in a wide range of context. I am former School Improvement Partner (SIP) across four Local Authority areas, Ofsted and Diocesan Inspector. I am an accedited and experienced leadership coach and employ a coaching approach to much of my work with the school leaders. I have trained many leaders to become effective coaches and facilitated the implementation of a coaching culture in a number of schools. I continue to facilitate and lead the review of Head Teachers’ performance since its introduction in 2001, across many part of the country. I am tuned into the needs of governors with regard to this and offer training to governors who are new to the process. I have assisted the development of governing bodies in many areas of governance. NICKI BELL Former Head Teacher I first became a Head Teacher in January 1995 and was substantive Head Teacher of three schools and an interim Head Teacher of a fourth. Between my last two headships I worked for four years for a national training company in Cambridge that was, at that time, an affiliated centre for the National College. I was responsible for rolling out a number of a national programmes in the East region, including Leading from the Middle. I retired from headship in 2016. My final school was a three-form entry Infant and Nursery School in Birmingham judged by Ofsted to be an outstanding school. We were federated to our adjoining Junior school which was the lead school in a Teaching School Alliance, (TSA) and I was heavily involved in the CPD element of this. My career has offered lots of opportunities to do exciting things. I was a seconded National College Associate for four years supporting school leadership in the West Midlands. I have been lucky enough to write and deliver leadership training in many different places, the two most distant being in the Middle East and China. I now have two roles. I am Director of Primary Education for a Trust for 40% of my time and the rest of my working life is freelance, frequently working with Alistair. We write and deliver training for leaders, at all levels, in primary schools and develop resources to support head teachers with many of the bureaucratic tasks of headship. Alongside this I do a lot of 1-1 support of schools, acting as an Improvement Partner, supporting HT performance management and providing CPD.

Lilley Lovett Theatre Group is a place for children to have fun, develop their performance skills and nurture a life-long love of musical theatre.  We see their confidence grow with every passing week - it's a joy to witness!  Our sessions are aimed at children and young people aged 4 - 18 years.  We meet every week during term time at the Laughton Parish Hall.   * Monday 3.15pm – 4.15pm ‘Little Lilley Lovetts’ for children in reception and year 1 * Monday 4.30pm – 6.30pm for school years 3 to 6 * Tuesday 3.15pm – 4.45pm for school year 2 * Saturday 10.00am – 1.00pm for school years 7+ Each year, we stage a full production for children in year 3 and above, including sets, costumes and lighting, which is open to the public. During the run up to the shows, we’ll get the children thinking about all of the aspects of putting on a production – from direction to costumes.  We also organise optional trips to see professional shows outside of the sessions so the children can really appreciate the collaborative nature of putting on a show. We offer two trial sessions for children so they have time to settle into the sessions and decide whether they would like to become a full member of Lilley Lovett Theatre Group.  Membership fees are charged termly at a rate of £8 per hour.  Discounts are available for siblings and we have a limited number of scholarship places available.

he Premises Music Education Programme is a registered charity based at the UK’s most popular music studio complex The Premises. Established in 1996, the organisation provides a range of training courses and workshops, giving musicians of all ages, abilities and budgets the opportunity to work and train in studios frequented by the likes of Laura Marling, Michael Kiwanuka, FKA Twigs, Emeli Sande, James Bay, Roots Manuva, Sam Smith, Stormzy and Paloma Faith to name just a few. The organisation started out running the most successful New Deal For Musicians scheme in the country, giving a head start to many upcoming artists. From there the Education Programme developed a series of regular workshops including a Jazz Vocal and Recording Workshop, a Songwriting and Recording Course with A-list master-class tutors and an annual Jazz Piano Summerschool. The Charity works closely with Hackney Music Service Network and local schools including Mossbourne Academy, Stoke Newington School, Petchey Academy, Morpeth School, Bridge Academy, Cardinal Pole School and Haggerston School. One popular activity is the Saturday Voice Jam, a unique opportunity for young people to come to the studios, form vocal groups, improve their singing skills, make recordings and put on roof-raising performances. What is a Multi Academy Trust (MAT)? An academy is a school which funded by central government but run independently from the local authority. An academy doesn’t have to follow the national curriculum or keep to usual school holidays. A multi academy trust is a group of academies working in partnership as part of a single organisation called the trust Crompton House Multi Academy Trust was established to improve and maintain high educational standards across a number of member schools. Through collaboration and partnership, the member schools are able to share expertise and resources. The trust has responsibility for the overall governance, finance and performance of the member schools. Approximately a third of publicly funded schools in England are now academies (22 per cent of primary and 70 per cent of secondary schools), rather than maintained by local authorities. The idea of schools sharing provision and learning directly from each other is a powerful one and something which has been an ambition of government for at least the last 20 years.
