Weston Super Mare

Welcome to the Elite Beauty Academy, my name is Wendy Jessop and I have provided training in Weston Super Mare since October 2007.  Students often tell me how they find it difficult to choose a training provider that will offer them the best options for their individual needs. Here at Elite, we pride ourselves on taking the time to prepare an individual programme ensuring students are on the correct course.  This will provide them with the maximum potential for achieving their goals. Along with a free initial consultation, we offer ongoing support, particularly after the course is finished to make sure students are confident to work with clients. Lots of people who would like to train often think they may be too old to start a new career - you are never too old is the answer! I have trained both male and female clients ranging from 14 - 83, one lady in particular began her training in her mid 60's and she still has a regular bank of clients, this was over 10 years ago. The tutors here are not only therapists who show you how to give a treatment, we have years of experience within the Industry. Our courses follow the National Occupational Standards (NOS), giving the student the most relevant professional training.  We are all PGCE qualified, experienced assessors, verifiers and examiners and have spent many years teaching in Further Education. We are very proud to have provided training to owners and their staff of many salons as well as college lecturers wishing to add to their skills. Elite Beauty Academy is situated at The Courtyard, Towerhead House, Towerhead, Banwell, BS 29 6PQ.  Accredited Training can take place in Salons and Spas for convenience. We also provide training such as Hopi Ear Candles, advanced waxing etc to students in Colleges. Please contact the number below to arrange. Fireball Beach Volleyball was founded by me, Sam Dunbavin, in late 2019. Here’s a little bit about us, and how Fireball was created. In autumn 2019, I’d just spent my first summer competing and training full time, and I’d decided that I wanted to try to forge a path for myself to make a career and a living from coaching the sport I loved: beach volleyball. So that’s what I did: I set up Fireball Beach Volleyball, took over the lease of Fireball Beach, in London, and started creating a series of beach volleyball events that would happen over the course of 2020 at our venue in London. Then the pandemic hit, and rather than living in London with no income, I moved back home to Devon, and started figuring out how that would affect Fireball. I realised that, in order to really spread the sport, staying put in one venue wouldn’t do. I wanted to spread my love for beach volleyball to as many places in the UK as possible; I wanted to help grow the game, and bring the game to pockets of the country that often don’t see it. So that’s what we’re about now. In 2022, after two years of massive growth, learning, feedback, more learning, listening and asking questions, we are still following that goal. We are aiming to take our Southwest Series, our flagship tournament series in the Southwest and Wales, to eight different beaches this year. We will be running a beach volleyball camp in every single school holiday, to make sure that all those juniors who love to learn from us can do that. We will be expanding the junior sessions we are running in London, after the incredible demand last year, and adding some regular adult training sessions and leagues, too. We’ll be running an elite series for the country’s top players, including our Barry Island Grand Slam. And we will keep taking our beach volleyball camps across the country, spreading the beach volleyball love and knowledge. Of course, I wouldn’t be able to do that without an incredible team, whom I’m proud to have invested lots of time and energy into. I’m firmly of the opinion that, in order to grow beach volleyball properly, we need to invest in people. Coaches, referees, organisers and parents are the lifeblood of the sport in our country, and we are proud to be supporting them-in 2022, we will be issuing bursaries to put five of our coaches through courses. We are also launching our bursary programme for kids, where they can apply to come to our events for free if money is a barrier to them attending. Just some of the small ways I’m proud to be giving back to the sport we all love.

Services for schools The Government’s expectation is that schools and colleges will work towards the Gatsby benchmarks. There are 8 benchmarks which constitute ‘good practice’ in career guidance for schools and colleges, they are: A stable careers programme Learning from career and labour market information Addressing the needs of each student Linking curriculum learning to careers Encounters with employers and employees Experiences of workplaces Encounters with further and higher education Personal guidance. Harrow College is now offering a range of new services to local schools for students in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13. The College offer can be linked to the Gatsby Benchmarks as well as support the school to meet their commitment to the Technical and Further Education Bill's amendment passed in the House of Lords in February 2017 by Lord Baker. We provide support to learners to progress from schools onto further education and apprenticeships. We encourage awareness of the many career opportunities available to young people and the vocational or academic qualification route they may need to take to succeed in their chosen career. College staff can assist and work with schools to: • Provide vocational advice and guidance • Collaborate during Careers Events and Parents’ Evenings • Arrange visits to college for individual learners and/or groups • Organise workshops at the College or in your school for specific subject areas allowing students to get ‘hands on’ experience. Parents Evening and Careers fair - Our staff can attend Parents Evenings, Careers Fairs and Year 11 options evenings in your school, to offer advice and guidance to learners, their parents and guardians. Tour for learners and teachers - Our staff are on hand to offer bespoke tours of the College to your staff, learners and their parents. This often helps learners to get a feel for how studying in a college might be like and we will help you advise your learners appropriately. Taster days - We hold taster days throughout the year to engage learners. Taster days can be a half or full day depending on your school timetable and requirements, and most subject areas are available. Presentation and talks – Our industry experienced staff can come into your school and deliver informative presentations to teachers, learners and their parents/ guardians. We understand time can be an issue so we can also deliver presentations at a time and place that suits you. CPD for teachers - Throughout the year our staff host a range of events for teachers and careers advisers. These events are a great opportunity to visit the College, view facilities and hear from vocational teaching teams on the options available to young people. Our Senior Leadership Team is also available to deliver sessions on new policy developments in education, such as T Levels, Institute of Technology, SEND etc. If you would like further information on how Harrow College can work with your school, please contact Lee Janaway via email on ljanaway@hcuc.harrow.ac.uk

Central Scotland Ballet School began life as a branch of the prestigious ‘Scottish Academy of Dance’. From humble beginnings with only 20 pupils, CSBS Principal Mrs Jacqueline Clark established 4 large branches with a roll of over 1000 pupils. Her daughters, Amanda and Samantha, have become associate directors and teachers in the school, ensuring her high standards are maintained and keeping it a family business. The School quickly established a fine reputation as one of Scotland’s leading part-time ballet schools. Students of all ages and abilities are trained to the highest levels in Classical Ballet, studying the Royal Academy of Dance ballet syllabus in a fun and friendly environment. They complement their ballet lessons with our professional tuition in commercial dance styles including Jazz, Acrobatics, Cheerleading, Tap, Commercial, Lyrical, Musical Theatre and competitive dance, as well as workshops with guest professional dance tutors. Many students enhance their training by successfully auditioning for professional Associate schemes as well as attending holiday courses at dance colleges across the UK. Annually we have students gain places at top full-time ballet schools and dance colleges across the UK. During the pandemic we ran a successful online programme with over 2500 online lessons and events… But it’s been a delight to welcome dancers back into the Studios! Whether our students are hoping to follow a career in dance or just dance for fun and fitness as a hobby, we hope to provide them with skills they can use in all aspects of their lives. “I never grow tired of watching the children grow and develop into confident and happy young dancers. It is a constant joy and privilege to watch them perform and I take huge pride in all their achievements. I hope that my school can continue to give young dancers a sense of confidence, enjoyment and success...” Jacqueline Clark RAD RTS , Director/Principal CSBS
