Our team and history: A successful business, established in 1994 by Paul Meek a former Operations Director of an ambulance service. Throughout Paul's career, he was exposed daily to the consequences of poorly managed risks, and this is what spurred Paul to establish Solutions Training, he wanted to bridge the visible but avoidable gaps in risk management and in particular health & safety education and the development of the equipment used to aid safer transportation of people. Our team are all members of the “National Back Exchange” and have been contributors to various working groups on developing good practice since 1995, including research into “what constitutes effective moving and handling training” performed by the Ergonomics Department at Loughborough University and in partnership developed topic-related awards at Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4 which are on the regulated qualifications framework. My name is Jacek Robotka and I am an artist and blacksmith originally from Tarnobrzeg, Poland. I am proficient in many different aspects of manufacturing crafts, from metalworking through to saddlery and woodcarving to antler craft, a skill that is ever rarer in our present times. Before I moved to Great Britain, I received a comprehensive education: I first trained at a trade school as a locksmith-mechanic, then at an automotive technical college, before earning a degree in Archaeology at the University of Lodz. In trade school I attended blacksmithing lessons, where my lifelong passion for metal crafting was born. I am always deepening my knowledge by looking for more information about historical metallurgy, survival, hunting, martial arts, fencing weapons and firearms, and their tactical use. My first artistic creations were made in a simple garage workshop over a decade and a half ago. Since then, my experience has been steadily growing and I have created many items which brought joy to enthusiasts of unique hand crafting. Some of these, including a number of knives and leather goods, are for modern use, but I have also crafted an impressive number of items recreated from historical finds like swords, seaxes and jewellery. My wide range of abilities makes me a hugely valuable specialist in the area of crafting unique and high-quality items; I am experienced in blacksmithing, metallurgy, welding, leather-, wood-, antler- and bone crafting, and also possess knowledge of blacksmithing, locksmithing and casting techniques as well as medieval item crafting techniques.

Our goal at Edinburgh University Cricket Club is to promote a passion for the game within the university and the wider community. We are a large and inclusive club of seven teams (four men’s, two women’s and a social XI) and compete in both indoor and outdoor competitions. We offer a diverse winter and busy summer schedule to suit any level of ability or commitment. We train three times a week, with specialist coaching available from Joe Kinghorn-Gray, Craig Yelverton and Aashiq Rhode. Our elite indoor squads have extra sessions to maintain our prowess in National Finals. Our Semester One Varsity Day, with both men’s and women’s matches against St Andrews, is always a day to remember that everyone gets involved in. We have a vibrant social scene, with socials and events throughout the semester, giving squads the chance to mix and friendships to blossom. Our annual Casino Night and Ball are some of the biggest nights of the year, and are a chance to dress up in the name of charity. There is also the opportunity to participate in various intramural sports, such as football, netball and hockey, if one sport isn’t enough for you! Our men’s and women’s 1st XI squads play at the highest standard in the BUCS Northern Premier divisions, while the rest of our squads play throughout Scotland. 2022 saw the exciting addition of a women’s 2nd XI and a Social XI, making our club even bigger and better than ever! The Islamic Finance Council UK (UKIFC) is a specialist advisory and development body focused on promoting and enhancing the global Islamic and ethical finance industry. The organisation was launched in 2005 by a group of like-minded professionals who sought to make a contribution to the development of the new and exciting Islamic finance industry. The founding directors, comprising a banker, an accountant and a lawyer, recognised that it was not within the mandate of their current businesses to invest resources into growing this young and emerging sector. The idea was conceived to establish a not-for-profit organisation which could provide a formal platform for them and others to dedicate their time and expertise, on a pro bono basis, to drive the sector forward. The initial priority of the UKIFC was to support the expansion of the UK consumer retail market where the existing infrastructure was not considered adequate for the Muslim minority population. At the global level the organisation sought to contribute by developing pioneering capacity building programmes for Shariah scholars and encouraging improvements in regulatory policy.
