I formed Keepabeat in 2007. My name is Sam Mackay and I’m a fully qualified Lifeguard and First Aid Trainer. I had a passion for teaching first aid and worked for several training companies on a freelance basis. I trained delegates from a wide range of backgrounds, including blue chip companies like House of Fraser, Sainsbury’s and Starbucks, but also local Childminders and Nannies. I developed as a trainer and realised that this was so much more than just a “job”. After having my daughter Ruby in 2012 my focus changed a little, however, it was very fortunate that I had learnt all those basic life saving skills, as Ruby certainly tested my knowledge! Realising that many Parents wouldn’t know what to do, or how to deal with a First Aid emergency, made me determined to pass on that knowledge. So, a new passion was born and teaching Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Babysitters, Childminders and Nannies basic first aid was my new mission. Working from a laptop in the front room and a car loaded with manikins, I worked hard to spread the KeepaBeat message, delivering Parent sessions and First Aid at work courses all over the UK. It soon became clear that I couldn’t do it alone! In 2016 KeepaBeat joined WOW World Group Ltd to develop KeepaBeat in to a Franchise opportunity so that we could deliver sessions and courses across the whole of the UK! Meadows is a romantic and feminine collection inspired by Victoriana, prairie-style, and folklore. Centred around dresses, the collection is inspired by various sources. The white cotton styles with a focus on embroidery and lace draw their inspiration largely from Victorian undergarments. Floral printed cotton which is inspired from the Victoriana revival of the 1970s. The collection also dips into a wide selection of historical inspiration from Tudor to The Renaissance, and fuses them with a modern sensibility. Meadows is designed in Hackney, East London, by Australian born, Central Saint Martins graduate, Louise Markey. Meadows is committed to make clothes which are made in a safe, ethical environment where working conditions are fair. We pride ourselves in sustainable practices and ethical manufacturing. We embody innovative cuts, bold colours and fine fabrics which are produced ethically and encourage slow, sustainable fashion. We have boutique-sized factories in China which are meticulously and consistently monitored by our supplier agents. Our factories have signed on to our internal ethical and safety compliance documents which we manage, inspect and enforce internally. We conduct frequent audits and have a supportive relationship with our manufacturers. These audits cover areas such as worker safety, gender equality and payment of a living wage. Meadows has made a long term aim to source more sustainable fabrics. We use industry standard textiles dyes which undergo rigorous testing before being used in the market and only Oeko-Tex certified printing inks. We are currently in the process of moving our products into Global Organic Textile Standard certified organic textiles and aim to source wool yarn exclusively from suppliers who adhere to the Responsible Wool Standard.

Manchester Environmental Education Network, or "MEEN" as it is more commonly known, is dedicated to supporting teachers, organisations and individuals working to promote environmental education and Education for Sustainability. To achieve this, we use a variety of methods: we run projects with schools, organise networking events, provide a termly newsletter and pool various free curriculum resources on this website. MEEN began life in 1994 as an informal organisation. It was run voluntarily by teachers who wanted to bring environmental issues into their teaching practice. Today, MEEN has become an independent charity. In January 2001 a coordinator was employed to support and build the network. Since then, MEEN has provided a range of CPD services, training sessions and networking events, conferences and numerous projects around sustainability with schools and educational providers. MEEN is now over 20 years old and still upholds its core values: it was set up to support its members and to promote the sustainability agenda within schools and to agencies working with schools. The first edition of Beehive, the MEEN newsletter, was produced in 1994, and despite a few changes in its format, continues to be produced today. MEEN has undergone two significant changes due to the impacts of austerity. Firstly, our remit changed from serving the city of Manchester to cover Greater Manchester. MEEN has always had members from schools in other parts of Greater Manchester so it seemed appropriate, especially as services in the other nine Council areas were being reduced, to widen our remit. Secondly, we now focus increasingly on projects working directly with schools either through the curriculum or working with young people in their Eco Committees.

The council's 53 members meet together as full Council to set the policy framework, agree the budget and spending plans, set the Council Tax, elect the leader of the council and make constitutional decisions. Each cabinet member has a specific area of responsibility, called a portfolio. About Becki and where Waggy Races started… My name is Becki and I am an Animal Biology BSc Hons and Animal Care HNC graduate. I qualified through COAPE as an Animal Behaviour Practitioner Dip CABT in 2020. I have been working with animals since a young child but professionally started in 2013 when I embarked on my Animal Care HNC. I was employed in a dog daycare whilst doing my degree, then moved on to working in a veterinary practice as a nurse. After a few years there I decided to make the move and become self employed as a dog walker and trainer. In 2019, a few months after completing my Animal Biology degree, where I wrote my dissertation on Flamingos (!!), I enrolled for my Animal Behaviour diploma with COAPE International. This consisted on 50+ hours in a training school, 50+ in a rescue/shelter environment, 100+ hours of lectures and of assessment writing. Additionally, I am qualified in animal nutrition, canine first aid and body language. I am also a Scentwork UK instructor. My main focus has always been on large breeds and reactive dogs, having experienced many and having lived with my own! We recently lost Enzo, our 2 year old Dobermann pictured, shortly after qualifying for Crufts, to an aggressive form of cancer so I currently share my home with my partner Stewart and my 6 year old cat Casper. My training specialities are advanced obedience, dog reactivity and separation anxiety. My aim is to help owners understand their dog and how to pave a better future for them. I do not judge and will always give the best advice and help I can.

University Alliance established the centrally coordinated DTA initiative to develop the next generation of independent, highly-employable researchers with expertise and skills in strategically-important areas.
