A Bespoke Course The course is exclusively aimed at learners with Education, Health and Care Plans. 1 Year Programme The programme will run for 15 hours a week over 3 days and transitions young people into further education or prepares them for the workplace. A Range of Modules The mandatory modules include progression routes which focus on preparing for further study or employment. There is an extensive range of optional modules should a person want to expand their knowledge in a specific area. Functional Skills We offer separate qualifications in both Maths and English ranging from Entry Level 1 up to Level 2. The qualification helps to prepare people for further learning or develop their knowledge and skills in a work-related subject. Functional Skills English and Maths qualifications included where needed, levels from Entry 1 to Level 2. Bespoke course delivered within a small group setting based on preparing to transition for the following academic year. Units can be studied at different levels to support spiky profiles, work-related units in Animal Care, Business and Administration, Catering, Charity and Voluntary sector, Cleaning, Construction, Creative Skills, Customer Service/Contact Centres, Hair and Beauty, IT, Motor Vehicle Maintenance, Retail, Sport and Leisure. Progress into further study at Entry 3 or Level 1 in the vocational subjects studied or into entry level employment in the vocational subjects studied. Therapy Services – Symbol has one of the largest teams of Speech and Language Therapists in the UK offering specialist assessment, intervention, training and consultancy for children and adults with special needs. In addition, Symbol also employs Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Behavioural Therapists and Nurses in its Family Assessment Services. Symbol is increasingly deploying expertise from these valuable in-house therapeutic resources across all its activities giving Symbol a unique offer to the people who use and buy its services. Family Assessment Centre & Community Support – Symbol operates up to 10 places for parents with learning disabilities undertaking a parenting assessment and intervention service (Commissioned by the Family Law Courts and Local Authority Children’s Services) and provides 9 families with longer-term specialist parenting support in the community post-assessment. Day Opportunities (The Hopyard Services) – Symbol supports 54 people with learning disabilities in a range of meaningful activities to promote skills in work, learning and leisure operating out of 2 separate sites in Kent. Supported Living – Symbol currently supports 50 people with learning disabilities living in 15 different ordinary houses where they live as tenants. This service is growing rapidly in response to local demand. Short Breaks/Respite Care – Symbol is working with 35 young people and adults providing regular short breaks. The demand for this service is also growing. We have the facility to support up to 13 people at any one time. Community Support – Symbol supports 8 people living in their own homes on a peripatetic basis.

The Venn HearmyVoice programme is a coaching and mentoring service designed to promote the development and empowerment of individuals and groups which will lead to big changes being made in the empowerment of primary school to university- level students. It will encourage participants to own their learning. It can also be tailored to suit people in the workplace, and help managers develop their leadership skills. The HearmyVoice student programme is aimed at students from 9 to 25 years old, and starts with a 32-question diagnostic survey, which is an online questionnaire, with eight possible categories, based around the outcomes. From here, the six-week intensive coaching begins, which is tailored around the results to the survey to suit the individual. Once a profile has been established, an adult coach will be assigned for the duration of the course. The HearmyVoice adult programme is designed with the adult in mind. It is aimed at workers with a view to empowerment and self-regulation in the workplace. HearmyVoice has been designed to improve individuals’ aspirations whilst also supporting self-regulation and empowerment in young people and adults. It is primarily aimed for use within the education sector, but can be tailored for use within the workplace. The programme supports organisations to improve performance processes, with the focus on finding solutions rather than reacting to problems. The six-week intensive training can be completed online or face-to-face and can be one-to-one or in larger groups or teams.
