Our company director has a background in psychology and has over 20-years’ experience in special educational needs. Along with supporting families and young children in various schools across the South East, she has first-hand experience living with her own SEN children, (now teenagers) that identify with ASD, ADHD, Depression, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Speech and language needs, Development delay and sensory difficulties. With many sleepiness nights and lots of failed school placements she made it her mission spending years studying and researching ways to understand the world 'as her children saw it' in order to best understand and help them. She now puts her knowledge to good use by supporting and training others. It is her aim to provide our young students with a better understanding of 'self' and boost self-awareness and self-esteem. She believes in children being able to express themselves freely, find their own identity and have the power to be autonomous. We incorporate a hands-on kinaesthetic learning to gain real-world and life skills - which builds confidence, that they will use daily for the rest of their lives. Our holistic approach promotes young minds, wellbeing and develops trusting rapports. Spectrum SEN has been formed to help and support young people and their families to achieve their goals. Our friendly and nurturing team work closely with parents, children, and local councils, ensuring the best possible support is provided. We believe in the personal approach and collaborate with a variety of professionals and therapists. All of our consultants are highly compassionate and experienced in supporting young people with SEN, fully DBS checked and safeguard trained. funding is generally granted by local councils through EHCPs or personal budgets, however, please do get in touch if you are in the process of applying for this, or you would like to use our services privately. Our Vision The vision of GLC is to make this successful teaching method available to as many students in Pitt County and the surrounding counties, as possible. GLC will continue to serve the needs of Pitt County students by working in partnership with Pitt County Public Schools and area private schools. It is also our goal to work with families and students in need of financial assistance by offering scholarships. In addition, GLC hopes to cooperate with ECU as a resource for future teachers and as an official internship site and volunteer service center. In the beginning, many thought it would be impossible to start such a project in eastern NC, but the determination of three mothers cannot be underestimated. The idea began to take root in 1997 after a visit to The Hill Center in Durham. It was determined by the three founding families at that time to make an investment and to begin to hire teachers to train in The Hill Center Methodology. Laura Bruce Hadley Nichols came on board and eventually became the school’s director. Dr. Michael Priddy who was a superintendent of Pitt County Public Schools at the time, made the trip to Durham with the founding mothers along with Mr. Larry Seigler (GLC board member), and Dr. Marilyn Sheer (previous Dean of ECU School of Education). We met with The Hill Center professionals and Dr. Priddy and decided that GLC would be a great partner with Pitt County Schools. The meeting was successful and afterwards Dr. Priddy granted transfer credit to GLC from Pitt County Schools. From this point on, GLC has been helping children throughout Pitt County meet their academic potential and feel good about who they are even though they learn differently.

Welcome fellow luminous beings, sisters, brothers, co-creators, and light-workers, I'm Nadia-Anne, but you can call me Nadia. I'm a Sound Visionary Artist, Healer and Coach. This means, I create and heal from sound then help facilitate space for others do the same through my immersive sound journey’s and coaching. Whilst I travelled the world as a professional dancer during my 20’s, I was lucky enough to absorb the variations of sounds, patterns, colours, textures, and cultures not only from local people, hill-tribes, remote craftsmen, Buddhist monks, and spiritual leaders, but also from the colourful souls I met along the way. I learnt that sound is the universal language, and that it is the thread that weaves humanity together. I have been deeply connected to music, sound and vision my entire life, which came to light, as a mature student at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design (CSM), London, which I started immediately after returning from living and performing in Ibiza (2006-07). During my studies, I accidentally invented BeatWoven; A transmission, weaving invisible geometric sonic soundscapes, into our artistic visual landscapes through coded woven threads and innovative technologies. The idea came to me as an epiphany on the dance-floor, at Space Ibiza in 2006. I was lost in the frequency of the music listening to the iconic DJ Carl Cox, immersed in lights and tuned-in to a moment of higher consciousness. Above our heads, I could see the laser beams weaving patterns in and out of each other in sync with the sounds, similar to threads weaving upon a loom. I instantly became excited about the concept of expanding our universal language into our decorative visual reality, through the medium of patterned fabric, bringing deeper and more meaningful connections to the world in which we live in. I learnt during my research that I had a form of syntheses, a sensory response I had shut down form a young age, where I can sense colour and pattern through sound. Working as a professional performer eventually led me to burn out in 2013. Throughout my life, I had unfortunately been exposed to external trauma’s and was diagnosed with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD). I found myself immersed in the epicentre of psychotherapy’s and holistic remedies desperate to heal myself so I could full-fill my commitment to BeatWoven. My turning point came when I took a break, and escaped to one of my favourite Island’s called Koh Phangan, Thailand for an Intensive 200 RYT Yoga Teaching Training Course. We meditated everyday at 6.30am in the middle of a jungle with buddhist monk teachers, ate an Ayurvedic diet, participated in 4 hours of yoga a day, and studied the philosophy of yoga. It was upon my return in 2019, I began training with the lineage of Don Conreaux gong masters. As a certified sound healer, yoga & meditation instructor (RYT), I am passionate about helping other people manifest their ideas into reality, using the ancient technology of ‘Frequency Medicine’ to cleanse our emotional and physical bodies so we can live a life of being in high-frequency. The rise of the new tech age in this ever-changing world increases our need to be anchored in our human ‘truth’. Tuning - In to ignite positive vibrations, will help us navigate through, and dissolve any seeds to illnesses such as mental health, depression, anxiety, stress and trauma, as well as help us authentically co-create an incredible world for humanity.

Meet Amanda Flewitt, Owner & Trainer: As my 45th birthday is coming up, it got me thinking about how lucky I am to be doing a job I love. I have come a long way, literally, as I was born in New Zealand and moved to the Wirral when I was 2 years old! I’ve always been creative. I gained my Graphic Design degree from Newcastle University, then I worked in the advertising and design industry up and down the country, in Liverpool, Edinburgh, London, and Manchester. But, as it often does in life, fate intervened. I was made redundant 3 times before I was 3- years old and I decided to retrain while looking for another job. I learned how to do nails, and I carried on doing them part-time when I got a job as an Art Director in Manchester. Once I had completed my nail qualifications, I built up a client base in my spare time, carrying out treatments after work and evenings, and eventually renting a small room in a hairdresser’s. My small business grew and I decided to take the plunge to rent a larger premises and even employ staff. On the day I picked up the salon shop sign I got made redundant from the Manchester job! Wow that was not what I was expecting. But forced me to focus on making the most of it and I have never looked back. After owning a few salons in the area I an now based in the a gorgeous room in the very professional Stanlaw Abbey Business Centre, where I offer Private small group and one to one accredited training and even manage to find time to pamper my lovely loyal clients that have followed me over the last 13 years. And I love it! l have also taught beauty and nails, multi media design and even retail at West Cheshire college for 10 years, and community leisure courses in basic skincare and makeup. I love teaching, and I get such a buzz from helping someone to learn a new skill. But even better, is the feeling I get when I know that I have helped them to pursue a completely new career, or to start their own business. I personally teach all my courses, either in small groups or one to one. I love passing on hints, tips, and professional techniques to my students. I always offer them support after the course, and I invite them back to resit it if they feel like they need to. They also get access to a private Facebook group, where they can get support, access videos, and much more. My aim is to have every student leave my courses with not only a sense of achievement, but the confidence and ability to be a fantastic therapist. My work makes me feel proud, and so does juggling my career with being a mother to my wonderful, and cheeky 6-year-old son. He is my motivation, my inspiration, and my constant reminder of why I do what I do every single day. Transfer from primary school to secondary school is a time when students often feel both a sense of excitement and of apprehension. Students look forward to a new environment and the challenge of different subjects. They generally approach the secondary school with a determination to work hard and be successful. Early in the school year, the Head of Year 7 contacts every primary school in order to get to know every student and to see the children at work. Thirsk School & Sixth Form College works hard to ensure that early in their final year at primary school, any anxieties or fears are quickly removed so that students feel secure and confident about their transfer to the secondary school. We also offer Enrichment Days for year 5 students to give the children an earlier opportunity to spend time in the school. Liaison continues throughout the year and special attention is paid to the early identification of students with Special Educational Needs. In the summer term, students from primary schools spend a whole week at Thirsk School & Sixth Form College and a careful Induction Programme includes a tour of the school, meeting the form tutor and experiencing a wide range of lessons. Parents or Carers of primary school students are very welcome to visit the school at any convenient time. Formal tours of the school occur most weeks so that parents can see the school during a normal working day. Please contact the school if you would like to attend such a tour. During the Induction Week there is an Induction Evening for parents to ensure they are fully informed and fully prepared to support their child’s transfer into secondary school. Where parents wish students to be admitted other than for the beginning of Year Seven, they are asked to contact County Hall to arrange for an application form to be sent. Parents are asked to contact the appropriate Head of School/College who will then arrange to send them the necessary information and organise a meeting and tour around the school. Once a place has been allocated from County, and the necessary information from the child’s previous school has been obtained. If necessary, we will organise a planning meeting with the family to ensure children settle well.

The Institute of Acoustics is the UK's professional body for those working in acoustics, noise and vibration. It was formed in 1974 from the amalgamation of the Acoustics Group of the Institute of Physics and the British Acoustical Society (a daughter society of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers). The Institute of Acoustics is a nominated body of the Engineering Council, offering registration at Chartered and Incorporated Engineer levels. The Institute has some 3000 members from a rich diversity of backgrounds, with engineers, scientists, educators, lawyers, occupational hygienists, architects and environmental health officers among their number. This multidisciplinary culture provides a productive environment for cross-fertilisation of ideas and initiatives. There are three corporate grades of membership, namely Honorary Fellow, Fellow, and Member, and four non-corporate grades of Associate Member, Technician Member, Affiliate, and Student. The Institute is well supported by organisations which have become Sponsor Members and by its Key Sponsors. A recent employment survey shows that of our 3000 members, some 900 are employed in industry, commerce and consultancies, 400 in education and research, and nearly 500 in public authorities. Among the more specialist areas in which acousticians are employed are the audio and hi-fi industry, auditorium and concert hall design, broadcasting, telecommunications, quiet vehicle and product design, sonar system design, human-computer interaction, environmental noise control and health and safety management. The Institute works closely with other professional bodies in related fields, including CIEH, REHIS and IOSH and the Association of Noise Consultants. As one of the smaller professional institutions, the Institute of Acoustics has particular strengths in its learned society programmes and its cohesive role for the subject. There is a club atmosphere in its activities and it is possible for members to maintain personal contacts with colleagues engaged in other related areas of acoustics. There is a high participation rate by members in the conference, subject specialist meetings and regional branch activities of the Institute. The Institute offers members a Continuous Professional Development support scheme, a feature which is becoming increasingly recognised as an essential element in ensuring that professionals can keep up-to-date with rapidly changing technological and regulatory issues. Specialist interests are catered for through specialist groups, and regional activities are promoted by a number of regional branches. The work of the Institute relies heavily, of course, on the voluntary efforts of many members of Council, of its Standing Committees and of the Group and Branch Committees. The Institute publishes a bi-monthly Acoustics Bulletin, containing articles of professional, academic and technical interest and the Institute's Proceedings record the two hundred or more papers presented at our formal meetings each year. An education programme, comprising a Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control and several Certificate of Competence courses is offered at a number of Centres throughout the UK. The Diploma is also available by tutored distance learning. Through specialist Institute of Acoustics working groups, support is given to the development of legislation in these areas, and there is considerable activity by Institute members in UK, European and International Standards development. The Institute is a founding member of the European Acoustics Association (EAA), a member society of the International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-INCE) and a member of the International Commission for Acoustics (ICA)
