She is the director of Carmel Bones Education and works closely with Osiris as a team leader and trainer for the (OTI) Osiris Teaching intervention, working with primary, secondary and post 16 teachers. Carmel is an A-level and GCSE examiner. Teachers are talented, busy people with the job of making a vital positive difference to young people’s lives. South East Wales Biodiversity Records Centre (SEWBReC) is the Local Environmental Records Centre for the collation, management and dissemination of biodiversity data for Gwent and Glamorgan. Our aim is to make appropriate local biodiversity information available to all those who need it, to help ensure that decisions which affect local biodiversity are made using the best available data. We achieve this aim by: Supporting the local biological recording community and helping them to manage and mobilise the wealth of information they gather; Working with a wide range of organisations to collate and computerise the data they hold; Collating and managing these diverse data sets in a central location; and Delivering a range of innovative and tailored biodiversity information products and services to meet the needs of our users. SEWBReC covers the vice-counties of Gwent (VC35, aka Monmouthshire) and Glamorgan (VC41). Our Unitary Authorities are: Blaenau-Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Swansea, Torfaen and Vale of Glamorgan*. *We follow the border of the Brecon Beacons National Park, so some of these areas are cropped; please use the Find a LERC tool if you are unsure whether you / your project falls within the SEWBReC area.

Chitepani is a subsistence farming village, situated 3200ft above sea level and approximately 9.3miles from Pokhara, Nepal’s second city. Although the Chitepani Trust was registered as a Charity in the UK in 2006, it had been functioning as a project since 2000 when Tika Ram Sapkota (a mountain guide at that time) and I, trekked to Annapurna Base Camp to celebrate the millennium. Tika told me about his home village Chitepani and of the need for some kind of small health centre. There was no medical provision in the village and it was necessary to walk a long way down a difficult mountain path and alongside the river before catching a bus to Pokhara and to the nearest doctor. A plan had been discussed but promised funding did not materialise. I decided to become involved at this stage. It took several years of fundraising in the UK before the health centre became well established with a full time health worker and regular health camps attended by a doctor. Health camps over the years have concentrated on issues such as eye problems, women’s health including smear testing, thyroid testing as well as general health and dental hygiene. Recently we have concentrated on providing information about Covid 19

Do you need some support with a particular project? Have you got staff that need some coaching or mentoring? Does your pastoral team need support / guidance? Leadership in schools is tricky and sometimes you just need some regular “head space” (trust me I know) – you know you need to do many many things but just need some time to process it (and talk it over) and then focus on it (or delegate it once you have your thoughts sorted!) Do you worry about safeguarding? Many schools have MANY people coming in to tell them what they need to improve but never offer any support in actually improving it. This is where I come in – I want to help you achieve it all – by supporting, offering advice, being actually there to lead it.
