Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School was founded in 1701 in accordance with the last will and testament of Sir Joseph Williamson, who bequeathed five thousand pounds “towards the building and carrying on and perpetual maintaining of a free school at Rochester for the instructing and educating of such youth there who were or should be the sons of freemen these towards the Mathematics and all other things which fit and encourage them for the sea service and arts and callings leading and relating thereto”. Sir Joseph Williamson served as a leading politician and diplomat during the reign of King Charles II. He was first elected as MP for Rochester in 1690 and held various offices (including Secretary of State aged 41) until his retirement in 1699 when he settled to live at Cobham Hall. At one time he was President of the Royal Society, Keeper of the King’s Library at Whitehall and Editor of the Oxford Gazette. He receives mention in the diaries of Samuel Pepys. Williamson’s life and work is not without controversy. He was an investor and administrator in the Royal African Company, a trading company set up in 1660 and led by the Duke of York (future King James II). This company held the monopoly of the English slave trade from Africa to the West Indies. Professor William Pettigrew from Lancaster University, in his book ‘Freedom’s Debt: The Royal African Company and the Politics of the Atlantic Slave Trade, 1672-1752’ (2016) writes that the Company ‘shipped more enslaved African women, men and children to the Americas than any other single institution during the entire period of the transatlantic slave trade’.

Dance Equation provide high quality, inclusive dance sessions for schools and nurseries in the UK. Our dance leaders are highly experienced, love working with children and are experts at engaging all ages and ability. Services for primary schools include dance delivery as part of the PE curriculum, PPA cover, dance clubs and cross-curricular learning. For nurseries we offer regular creative movement sessions that are aligned with the Early Learning Goals.

Welcome to our school Frobel Independent School is a new independent day school situated in the Borough of Barking and Dagenham. We can proudly state that we are the first non-faith independent school in Barking. We are a secondary school educating years 7 through to 11. Teaching4you is a tuition company that works to encourage and build confidence in students nationwide. We understand the impact Covid-19 has had on everyone, especially pupils in schools, so we aim to support them on topics they struggled to learn from their previous years and then work on the topics from their current year.

Technology Triumphs is a distance learning based service and exam centre, headed by qualified DT teacher and home educating mum, Pip Rothwell. In 2018, whilst tutoring a small number of home educating learners, Pip realised that there was a distinct lack of opportunities to achieve formal qualifications in practical and creative subjects outside of a school or college setting Technology Triumphs provides Ofqual-approved Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications to learners who might not otherwise be able to access these through more conventional education channels. TT offers online courses that have been independently approved under the awarding body NCFE and allows learners to learn at home without feeling pressurised and at their own pace.
