The London Suzuki Group ( LSG ) was founded in 1972 and was the first group in the United Kingdom to teach music by the Suzuki Method. With 60 qualified teachers and over 600 children currently receiving tuition, the LSG runs individual and group classes, orchestral and chamber music courses, workshops and an annual residential summer course at Bryanston School in Dorset. The group offers instruction in violin, viola, cello, piano, flute, recorder and voice. Public and private concerts are regularly organised at venues throughout London and elsewhere, providing much more than the opportunity to learn an instrument. Children and parents form lasting friendships. Parents and teachers are able to share experience and ideas. Music, and the love of music, becomes a natural part of the life of the whole family. Talent is not a prerequisite The Suzuki approach stimulates and develops musical abilities inherent in all children. Our Christian faith underpins all other aspects of our work and encourages us to work inclusively, with care and love and with particular focus on vulnerable groups, including young people. Youth Development – providing training, information and support to young people. Annually, our youth team engage with around 900 young people across a suite of projects. We deliver schools-based Good Relations training, an internet safety project, sixth form enrichment training, and shared education. Our centre based projects include the Duke of Edinburgh Award/Gaisce – The President's Award, volunteer training, the NI National Citizen Service project and Youth in Government. Family Support – providing childcare, after school programmes and holiday clubs. Health & Fitness – providing facilities for sport and fitness for a healthy lifestyle. Community Engagement – promoting reconciliation through responding to the hurts and issues facing people in a divided community which is emerging from conflict. I was first introduced to dowsing while completing my Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship at GEC Machines in Rugby, Warwickshire. One of the placements was within the Electrical Maintenance Department where my supervisor was kind enough to spend some time showing me how to rod dowse. He gave me a set he had made himself. Very soon after this my sister taught me how to dowse with a pendulum and work with food supplements and the Schuessler Tissue Salts. She also helped me to improve my diet and cookery skills. We both used cheerful glass beads and brightly colored yarn for our pendulums. Soon after my first child was born I realized that he was following a similar pattern of health to me and within a few months I was given the contact telephone number for Mrs H. Lucie Bidie by a good friend David Kerruish who still has a Wholefood Shop in Rugby. Lucie Bidie put me in touch with one of her students from her who treated our little family. I was quickly asking for more information and wanted to extend my dowsing skills beyond working with the vitamin and mineral supplements. I began training with Lucie Bidie in 1987 and continued to work with her until shortly before her death in 2002. Lucie and her husband Stewart were both instrumental in the founding of the Radionic Association, both financially and on committee. They were trained by the De La Warrs and had Radionic analysis and treatment instruments made by the De La Warr Laboratories. Lucie taught students via the School of Radionics but as her findings and techniques changed from the school's protocols this became more and more tricky. Around 2000 I was blessed with meeting 2 people who stretched my concepts of the analysis and treatment of clients. I realized I had become quite rigid in my thinking. They were Barbara Garratt and Chris Bacon. Conversations are divergent and energizing. I have been distance healing for over 25 years which is very rewarding. I also get so much satisfaction from guiding people to be dowsing at their highest level, while achieving confidence in their accuracy and results.

Corporate Skills Training and Coaching Neeta coaches lawyers and business professionals to communicate with other people in a confident, concise and clear style. Neeta has worked with all levels of staff from junior support to senior management teams. She has the ability to identify effective training solutions and present them confidently to key stakeholder partners. Her training and coaching experience covers both the private and public sectors, including international law firms and businesses. Neeta coaches’ partners and lawyers on their partnership journey. In addition to her postgraduate studies, Neeta is a practitioner of Neuro Linguistics Programming (NLP), a practitioner and assessor of SEI Emotional Intelligence and holds a Certificate in Teaching English to Adults (CELTA). Legal Training and Coaching Neeta works with hundreds of international lawyers worldwide, from six of the seven continents, preparing them to qualify as a solicitor of England and Wales, through the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE). She trained BPP Law School examiners for the QLTT later called the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (QLTS) which is what the new SQE is based on. She created a bespoke judging criteria to ensure consistency, when assessing candidates in the English language for the verbal reasoning assessment (Principles of Common Law). Based on her expertise and experience, she wrote the first SQE book called ‘Skilfully Passing the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE)’ published by Bloomsbury Professional. It has had great reviews from legal journals, educational institutions, universities, law firms and individuals.

In October 2013 the CReSTeD Council revised their criteria for inclusion of schools and teaching centres within the Register. In many respects the changes may seem cosmetic, a case of re-organisation to place similar criteria together. However, on closer inspection you will find a major difference. In the past we have referred to dyslexia as the focus of our assessment within schools, we updated this a few years ago to read ‘dyslexia(SpLD)’. Our criteria now reads simply ‘SpLD’, the support for children with dyslexia works within a wider frameset that should include all learning difficulties. We have not forgotten our roots, we are still a dyslexia charity, we are simply taking into account the wider picture. Accrediting Schools and Teaching Centres for their Learning Support Provision. We maintain a register of schools and teaching centres which meet our criteria for the teaching of pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties. All schools and centres included in the Register are visited regularly to ensure they continue to meet the criteria set by CReSTeD. We act as a source of names for educational establishments which parents can use as their first step towards making a placement decision which will be critical to their child’s educational future. The majority of schools on the register are mainstream schools that are also able to give excellent help to pupils with SpLD: dyslexia and also – when combined with dyslexia – dyscalculia, dyspraxia, ADD, and pragmatic and semantic language difficulties. In addition we include teaching centres where children can find additional support outside of and /or in addition to their day to day schooling. The register provides guidance for parents who are looking for a school or teaching centre for their child with SpLD and has become established as a first source of such guidance. For example: Parents who contact the British Dyslexia Association, Dyslexia Action or the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity to enquire about schools will be referred to CReSTeD. Many local authorities rely on the CReSTeD register – which is published annually – to inform their financial decisions about funding a placement for dyslexia. Retune was founded by Tom Ryder. Tom is a musician and journalist, and has a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. He was hospitalised for poor mental health multiple times during his late teens and early twenties, which eventually forced him to withdraw from university and begin again from scratch. While in hospital, Tom noticed that patients were finding creative outlets to cope with their predicament. These outlets included drawing, painting, writing poetry, dancing, singing and cooking. Tom wrote songs and, despite those dark times, he realised creativity’s tremendous potential to improve mental health; it is crucial to have an outlet for feelings and emotions. A few years later, Tom started hosting live gigs. He also ran workshops in schools, connecting with young people who were experiencing mental struggles. In 2018, Retune started to take shape: in addition to live shows and schools, Tom now visited prisons and hospitals, and produced online content. Tom’s cousin Kathryn Bailey – a photographer, videographer and all-round creative – joined the project in 2019. As well as sharing Tom’s view that creative outlets are powerful tools for mental wellbeing, Kathryn had a personal attachment to Retune's mission... When Tom was first admitted to hospital, 11-year-old Kathryn was shielded from the truth, as she was considered ‘too young’ to know what was going on. Being involved with Retune allows her to be part of a cause that is close to her heart, especially as Retune’s workshops discuss mental wellbeing with all ages, from primary school pupils to adults. Open conversations around wellbeing are more commonplace nowadays, but there is still a long road ahead. Through its workshops and live shows, Retune is creating a community based around mental wellbeing, underpinned by creativity. When we retune something, such as a musical instrument or a radio, we make small adjustments in order to achieve harmony, clarity and balance. Retune believes that the same theory can be applied to mental health. Harnessing creative outlets that engage the imagination, and following the principles of the SCALES model, can help all of us to make small adjustments. As a result, our mental wellbeing will be more in tune.

Our Adult Education-Night Classes programme was first launched in 1999. Since then, the number of participants enrolled in our night classes has grown dramatically, as has the number of courses on offer. The Director of Adult Education is Conor Barry. There are two terms each academic year. The Autumn Term generally commences towards the end of September, with the Spring Term getting under way towards the end of January. An extremely comprehensive and diverse range of classes are available, with over 100 exciting courses on offer each term! Courses vary from Yoga and Pilates, right through to classes on Genealogy, Cooking, Painting, Mindfulness & Meditation, Spanish, French, Italian, Calligraphy, Guitar, Gardening, First Aid, Felt making, Tai Chi, Zumba and Ballroom Dancing, to name but a few! St Leonards Studio CIC is a collective of teachers of Yoga, Pilates, Qigong, Meditation, Shiatsu and other such practices for holistic health and wellbeing. We are a not for profit, Community Interest Company whose aim is to provide affordable space for local teachers who form a collective of practitioners providing classes, workshops and courses for all. The studio was founded and is run by two local teachers Annie Cryar and Zowie Martin with an intention to create a suitable and affordable space for a community of teachers with a shared ethos of safety, inclusiveness and community support. All teachers joining the studio are fully qualified and insured and encouraged to be part of a governing body to ensure a standard of professionalism students can trust. In-house trainings are available for both existing teachers to continue professional development and new teachers and practitioners to train through the Shiatsu College Hastings and Meridian Yoga Teacher Training, a British Wheel of Yoga approved school. Members of the studio are independent sole traders and remain fully autonomous in the running of their classes but are encouraged to think of themselves as being part of a whole that runs for the good of all. Teachers are encouraged to connect socially with one another, to experience one another teachings and to participate in raising social awareness through collaborative free community events such as Mental Health Awareness Week, World Meditation Day and charity events. Over the last 5 years the studio has had to move venues 3 times and teachers come and go but the heart and vision of St Leonards studio remains the same. St Leonards Studio CIC supports the Sarah Lee Trust, a local charity providing free complimentary therapy for those with terminal illness and their families.
