Learning to Work is a not-for-profit organisation with charitable status; set up to facilitate links between education and the world of work. Business engagement is at the heart of everything we do and is what sets our activities apart when it comes to giving young people an insight into the world of work and what employers will expect of them when they enter the workplace. Our brilliant business volunteers bring all of our activities to life with their expertise and enthusiasm. We are extremely passionate about the work we do and the impact we have on the lives of young people. Learning to Work achieved matrix Standard accreditation in 2014 and 2017 recognises our information, advice and guidance services and accredits our capability to support our schools with their responsibility for careers education. Each year we work with over 18,000 young people on a variety of different activities including; Work Experience, Careers Guidance, Work Ready Activities, Business Insight Days, Careers & Apprenticeship Events, Enterprise Activities, Inter-school Competitions, STEAM as well as support for Specials Needs and students struggling with mainstream education. Several local Education Business Partnerships were formed in 1993 as part of the government initiative to improve employer engagement in local schools. In 2007 EBEBP (East Berkshire EBP) was formed as an amalgamation of three of these local organisations. Following several changes to government funding and the education landscape EBeBP become Learning to Work in 2012.

My name is Ibrahim, I have been a Personal Trainer for over 11 years and I’m the owner of Elite Transformation. My personal transformation started at 14. I was always very active as a child, going swimming with my dad and playing various different sports in school including Football, Rugby and Track and Field. I was introduced to the movie Kick boxer starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. I was in absolute awe of the way he looked and decided I wanted to have the same physique as him so I went to the library, got all the training book and started weight training with my dad’s unused Argos weights. My first step into the fitness indusrty was in 2007. I started working at “Fitness First” in Kilmarnock as a Gym Instructor which I was beyond excited about. I came down with a bump as the job I was hired to do was clean machines, do inductions and take classes. Ultimately, I wanted to help the gym members with their training and nutrition. 2 years later, in 2009 I decided to take the leap and put myself through my Personal Trainer course so I could do what I really wanted to do – transform people into an improved, stronger and fitter version of themselves. Over the years I have transformed individuals from all different walks of life, from first and second time Mums and Dads, other Personal Trainers and Bikini Competitors.

Alexandra was born in the USA and spent her formative years in London and Glasgow. Her musical abilities were recognised from a very young age and she began having regular piano and vocal lessons at the age of four. Alexandra had the honour of being the youngest singing student to be accepted at the prestigious Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. Whilst studying there, she benefited from singing lessons, vocal workshops and master-classes with both formidable voice teachers and visiting leading professionals. This early exposure to such a high standard of coaching was a great source of inspiration for an aspiring young soprano. Alexandra was invited to attend the Association Of Teachers Of Singing training course for four consecutive years, which provided her with a solid foundation for developing her own teaching technique which she loves to share in her own teaching lessons. Having always had a special love of Scotland, it seemed to be a natural progression for her to complete her studies at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow (now known as The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) where Alexandra was awarded her Bachelor of Music with Honours Degree. Now based in Central Scotland and accessible from Falkirk, Stirling, Glasgow amd Edinburgh, Alexandra enjoys working as a freelance singer (soprano) and singing teacher. She is currently delighted to be working with Music in Hospitals and Care (MiHC) with whom she has regular concert engagements and tours.

Inclusion Expert’s founder, Daniel Sobel, is an internationally respected leader in inclusive education and has advised the DfE, the EU and governments abroad. Daniel is a well-known speaker, writes regularly for publications including Headteacher Update and The Guardian, and is the author of several books including Narrowing the Attainment Gap. Daniel left school with no A Levels and read his first book aged 18. Gradually he fell in love with study and managed to secure a place on a Master’s course in Education Psychology. He went on to take four graduate courses in Psychology and Education, eventually running out of money in the middle of doctoral training. Daniel moved to full time teaching and quickly became a SENCO. Dismayed by how much of the job was pointless meetings and paperwork, he started designing tools to better support his students. During a stint as Assistant Head he continued to develop simple systems to help teachers manage information and maximise the impact of their interventions. Realising that many teachers were struggling with inclusion, that his ideas really worked, and that there was an opportunity to make a difference to children across the country, Daniel left teaching, somewhat hesitantly, to form Inclusion Expert. Over the last few years the company has grown rapidly to encompass a team of experienced practitioners who share Daniel’s vision that every child deserves the opportunity to achieve their potential, regardless of needs, background or ability.

I’m Sarah, founder and teacher at CRAFT. I opened CRAFT in February 2020, it’s been a dream for sometime to have a space to be able to teach a subject I love so much. I started sewing as a young girl, sewing together scraps of fabric from my mums fabric box, altering clothes and creating new ones. I’ve always been something I have always enjoyed. I graduated with a first class honours degree in Education in 2009. After graduating I took up a teaching post in a secondary school, specialising in textiles and food technology. After having my first child in 2012 I decided not to return to the classroom and started a business making and selling children’s wear from home. When my second daughter arrived in 2016 I decided to start teaching again. I taught in the workshop room at the back of Annie’s fabric shop most weekends. Workshops became popular and from that CRAFT was born. I wanted to create a space that could be used to teach sewing workshops but also could work with other creative areas. I hope that when people visit CRAFT they feel relaxed and enjoy spending time in the workshop space. I really love teaching here. I love sharing my knowledge, my top tips and my expertise. My aim is to give my students confidence and to share my love and passion of sewing. I want everyone to leave feeling excited to start their next sewing project .

Creative is an international development organization dedicated to supporting people around the world to realize the positive change they seek.PAKISTAN Reading Project Pakistan is one of the few countries where illiteracy rates are actually increasing. Government statistics show that primary school enrollment is only 66 percent, which means some 7.2 million children are not in classrooms. The Pakistan Reading Project is a national program aimed at improving the quality of reading education in more than 23,000 public schools. It is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development. Under the International Rescue Committee’s purview, along with 10 local and international partners, Creative is delivering high-quality pre-service teacher education, training and professional development with an explicit focus on teaching reading. It will improve management throughout the education system through policy support and enhanced information, planning and monitoring systems. Complementing education initiatives by the Pakistan government, USAID and other international partners, the Pakistan Reading Project will promote a culture of reading nationally by improving organizations’ abilities to promote educational research, advocacy and reform, as well as expanding the number of colleges and universities offering rigorous teacher training and specialized education degrees. The Pakistan Reading Project will advance and develop the reading instruction skills of 94,000 teachers over the next five years and is expected to reach 3.2 million boys and girls with improved reading programs. The program will specially target underserved rural communities where access to elementary education is limited.

READ MORE Entertainment & Leisure After years of working with the elderly, we have the necessary experience and are aware of their needs. CNG has decided to organise Lunch Club to entertain the elderly with traditional Iranian music and board games allowing them to interact with many others. We also supply them with Iranian cuisine. READ MORE Education For CNG the education of our youth and future generation is very important. CNG has a supplementary school where it focuses on teaching Farsi. The students are able to attend the extra-curriculum activities which take place after Farsi lesson. This includes Maths & English to enrich and support the students also Art, Crafts & Dance. READ MORE Support Due to covid-19 pandemic there has been a huge demand among the elderly, disabled and low-income clients for living essentials. CNG has been able to hand out food and supplies to many people. These people were not able to leave their homes for months due to the fright of COVID-19 and we believed it was our duty to help them.
