The meaning of the name IVOLO is International Voluntary Organisation for Learning Opportunities which is reflected in our activities and beliefs. As a non profit organisation we ensure exceptional value for money to young people many of whom are from a disadvantaged background who participate and lead our activities and for grant funders ensuring the grant is spent on quality activities. Our projects are open to all learners with our selection process fair and transparent with an emphasis on selecting those who have not had the opportunity to travel abroad before, from low-income households and will benefit the most from all stages of the project. The operation of our projects is based upon three main principles:IVOLO strives to ensure all of our activities reach the highest standards and we are a beacon of good practice. Our policies include: Child Protection, Safeguarding, volunteer, complaints policy, confidentiality and data protection, conflict of interest, incident prevention and reporting policy, lone working and personal security, purchasing and procurement policy and an environmental statement.

Since 2017, SF Innovations has worked to promote technologies and products which protect the environment and build resilience to climate change. These range from the use of Haybox Thermal Cookers to reduce the use of fossil fuels during cooking to harnessing Solar Power. PROJECTS In 2018 we launched a project with the EMACE Foundation of Sri Lanka to manufacture and supply 50 each of Solar and Haybox Cookers to low income families. SF provided all the funding while EMACE organised the manufacture of the cookers locally, identified suitable recipients and provided training and literature. In 2019 we went out to work with local charities. Over the last 5 years we have used talks and workshops to promote various energy saving technologies. Some of these have been in association with the Environment Centre at St. Nicks, York and others at various festivals - Green Gathering, Radical Bakers and Festival of Thrift to name a few. Over lockdown, we have used Zoom workshops to reach hundreds of attendees around the UK as well as worldwide.

This innovative industry specific trade school serving grades 9-12 is a project of Aspire Carolinas Foundation Inc. This school is the only charter model of its kind in North Carolina featuring “hands-on” labs. At this rigorous academic school students will have the ability to earn a diploma AND a trade certificate during their four years. Students will begin trade instruction in their freshman year and will be able to enter an apprenticeship with a local company during their senior year to gain additional experience. Students will have opportunities to explore career options in industry-specific trades like HVAC, plumbing, data science, carpentry, culinary, masonry/ceramic tile, welding/fabrication, medical assistant, and medical coding. We are currently exploring additional career fields, such as, CNC machining, robotics, 3D printing, automotive, and horticulture (commercial greenhouse)/ business hydroponics. Students will have trade instructors that are experts in their industry and will use curriculum that would lead students towards NC trade certification or licensure if that is available in their chosen field.

Our Mission Helping older people to eat well, age well and live well independently at home for as long as they wish. Who We Are Meal Makers is a subsidiary of the award winning Scottish Charity Food Train. Food Train is an innovative volunteer-led grocery shopping delivery service which brings vital fresh food to vulnerable older people in need. Since launching in 1995, Food Train has gone from strength to strength over the years and has expanded into 9 regions in Scotland and now supports over 1,600 older people with the tremendous help of over 600 volunteers. What We Do Meal Makers is a local neighbourhood food-sharing project that connects people who love cooking, and who are happy to share an extra portion of home cooked food, with an older neighbour who would really appreciate a freshly prepared meal and a friendly chat. By turning an everyday activity into a volunteering opportunity, Meal Makers strengthens connections within communities and provides a flexible way for people to volunteer their time and skills locally in a way which suits them.

Having carried out a OND/HND in building studies in Ipswich in 1995, James returned to part time studies in 2005 and achieved a first-class honours degree in Architectural Technology from Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford. James started up ACADDS (East Anglia) Ltd in 2012 after going through redundancy. He used his experience gained during his career, along with his list of contacts to build a close and professional relationship with various other Architectural Practices, Consultants and developers across East Anglia allowing for repeat business whilst still maintaining a close connection with his domestic clients
